NHS Fife tries to silence nurse - Sandie Peggie vs NHS Fife Health Board and Dr Beth Upton - thread #5

Sandie Peggie, a nurse at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy (VH), has brought claims in the employment tribunal against her employer; Fife Health Board (the Board) and another employee, Dr B Upton. Ms Peggie’s claims are of sexual harassment, harassment related to a protected belief, indirect discrimination and victimisation. Dr Upton claims to be a transwoman, that is observed as male at birth but asserting a female gender identity.

The Employment Tribunal hearing started on Monday 3 January 2025 and is expected to continue for 2 weeks. The hearing commenced with Sandie Peggie giving evidence. Dr Beth Upton started giving evidence on 6 February.

I've fed, burped and toileted Sandie whilst waiting. She's now asleep down my top with just her head poking out.

Has anyone tried the voice conference route to joining? I can't get a signal for online connection so tried the conference number. I've hung up now but not sure if that's a viable option to just listen in.

I would have been more surprised if DU was actively being cross examined at 10am. I suspect today will be quite disrupted. It’s annoying but underlines DU is fragile (although well enough to attack those who cross him). What I hope the tribunal understands is that what has happened to SP (and women like her) is unacceptable and needs to be sanctioned. This situation is terrible for women and needs addressing. It is also not helpful to society to reward the weaponising of mental fragility.

Just laughed over this with DH & he says he used to use his desktop computer for work meetings instead of his laptop because the desktop didn't have a camera.

I've done that with other tribunals and it worked fine, allowing for the fact you miss the visuals of course.

They'll be attending to something necessary. These kinds of delays mess up the schedule of the whole case and they're always keen to avoid that.

I’m getting this message too. The options to join are as either a ‘host’ or ‘guest’ so obvs I’ve chosen ‘guest’. I then get asked to allow them to use my camera and microphone - whether I say yes or no, the same error message immediately lands telling me to ‘refer to your joining instructions for help’.
