NHS Fife tries to silence nurse - Sandie Peggie vs NHS Fife Health Board and Dr Beth Upton - thread #5

1000 replies

nauticant · 06/02/2025 17:34

Sandie Peggie, a nurse at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy (VH), has brought claims in the employment tribunal against her employer; Fife Health Board (the Board) and another employee, Dr B Upton. Ms Peggie’s claims are of sexual harassment, harassment related to a protected belief, indirect discrimination and victimisation. Dr Upton claims to be a transwoman, that is observed as male at birth but asserting a female gender identity.

The Employment Tribunal hearing started on Monday 3 January 2025 and is expected to continue for 2 weeks. The hearing commenced with Sandie Peggie giving evidence. Dr Beth Upton started giving evidence on 6 February.

Access to view the hearing remotely can be obtained by sending an email request to [email protected] headed Public Access Request (Peggie v Fife Health Board) 4104864/2024 and requesting access.

The hearing is being live tweeted by https://x.com/tribunaltweets and there's additional information here: https://tribunaltweets.substack.com/p/peggie-vs-fife-health-board-and-dr. I sincerely hope that the TRAs do not attack the Rheumatology Society for accepting donations from, in their view, TERFS but I wouldn't be surprised if they do as it is par for the course with them.

A marvellous total and wonderful way of showing support for Sandie, well done vipers.

Babadookinthewardrobe · 07/02/2025 10:24

What can only true English people see? I dread to think! Phoenixes hopefully.

Any sign of Doc Uppity yet?

Covering the head and face is also the fashion amongst social justice activists. Using the same tactics that the anti - fascists and anarchists used to use. It aligns with the image of themsleves as being subversives and counter-establishment renegades and warriors. Note that Hamas all wear head and face coverngs too.

Unfortunately the Times has also started to use emotive tactics in order to draw attention to articles, and in that they are falling into the new compulsory framing device - of everything having to be Left Versus Right, Evil Tories Versus virtuous Labour, The good guys versus the fascists and so on....Trump and Musk are the new hate figures of choice - bound to generate reaction.

Edited

true - if trans woman in female changing room wasn't already enough click bait, they need to throw in the ace of Trump to bump traffic...

Apologies as I know this has been asked but I don't want to cause noise when watching. If you sign in as an observer you are automatically muted, is that right?

I bet he’s sooo overwhelmed and traumatised by yesterday that he’ll be a no-show. Really hope I’m wrong.

If he was overwhelmed by yesterday then god help him once he's in front of NC. 🤭

Oh come on peeps! Is this not just a sign that he wants to avoid his picture being on the internet forever and he is just aware that's what will happen. The internet is not kind and the consequences of having his name out there are pretty stark already. And anyway the sacrifices he has already made will potentially be a big step forward in resolving female only spaces - so whatever you think of his brow line, we may (all fingers crossed) come to thank him for his overly zealous note taking and trigger happy harrassment claim... it's almost a lose lose situation he finds himself in? Win the case and there will be animosity from 51% of the population regarding women's rights. Lose the case and on top of that animosity is the weight of disapproval and disappointment from "my people". Not a comfortable spot to be in

FAFO.

@JasmineAllen
Sorry to head about this.
Without meaning to derail this thread have you looked at BEAT website? Lots of useful info there.
Much of anorexia is around control and many young people, mostly girls, find it develops when they feel they have lost control- of life around them, their changing bodies or I would think a disease that has dominated their life for some time and which they know they can’t just get rid of. They can’t control that so they restrict and control eating and exercise instead. There’s often an element of self punishment too- my body WILL be made to behave and I will punish it if not.

If you started a new thread I’m sure many of us would happily post on it to support you (if you do please feel free to tag me so I don’t miss it).
Wishing you the best.

Well if they did do that it would show them to be completely lacking in basic human decency, humanity or any kindness or even the tiniest bit of respect or self-restraint or normal adult behaviour at all.

So operation let them speak.

Sadly no one has ever mentioned this phenomenon to me. I'm definitely going to look into it now though.
Camhs have been quite useless.

Oh dear, I'm sorry. Your child and your family need better than that. There may be parents of children with eating disorders threads on MN where someone could advise how to make sure you get the professional help you need. Might be worth going back to GP too

Yes, I also put my thumb over my camera and once in, shut camera off. Then remove thumb.

I think at this point we'd all be more shocked if they started on time.

I'm assuming someone has locked themselves in a toilet cubicle (in the women's loos) and is refusing to come out.

To be honest that's what I'd be doing if I was about to be questioned by NC even if she was on my side.

Hamas people have been assassinated on their own turf by Israelis. I'm not sure this has anything to do with Dr U's decision making - but just based on privacy and dignity I am OK with him wanting that. And it underlines the hypocrisy of him not respecting SP's desire for the same
