nauticant · 06/02/2025 17:34

Sandie Peggie, a nurse at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy (VH), has brought claims in the employment tribunal against her employer; Fife Health Board (the Board) and another employee, Dr B Upton. Ms Peggie’s claims are of sexual harassment, harassment related to a protected belief, indirect discrimination and victimisation. Dr Upton claims to be a transwoman, that is observed as male at birth but asserting a female gender identity.

The Employment Tribunal hearing started on Monday 3 January 2025 and is expected to continue for 2 weeks. The hearing commenced with Sandie Peggie giving evidence. Dr Beth Upton started giving evidence on 6 February.

Access to view the hearing remotely can be obtained by sending an email request to [email protected] headed Public Access Request (Peggie v Fife Health Board) 4104864/2024 and requesting access.

On a none legal note i know for sure he will be fucked at his workplace, he has no witnesses from the floor so to speak just managers.

His colleagues will not be able to resist looking up the case and will by virtue of gossip be well aware of his note taking habits.

He has shat on his own doorstep.

those on his shifts are gonna give him a wide berth.

You reap what you sow.

I can't see how there aren't other issues for his employment too.

His sickness absence for a start, his Bradford Score will be triggering all sorts

He's been exposed as either having exaggerated and or misrepresented key elements of these interactions, either at the time of writing his witness statements or in the tribunal today

He's openly stated that he argued with a distressed woman who was asking for privacy (HOW HOW HOW is this not a fitness to practice issue?!)

BoiledBeetle, I have got something in my eye.

Thank you for the up to date fig.

I've had to stop reading the messages as I've run out of tissues. Terrible hayfever for the time of year.

Nope thats not allowed by the rules of this game. It seems Dr U will not permit any action which could be construed as “non acceptance” and will keep notes in order to evidence it later. It’s their way or the highway - by which I mean a claim of harassment and suspension from work for not being friendly enough

Manxexile · 06/02/2025 23:10

That ought to work. It's what I used, although I had to try twice

I'll just have to keep trying! Thank you.

Yes, I'd fail that by not even saying anything. According to my friends, I have both mobile eyebrows, and nostrils that seem to flare without me noticing I've done it. Of course sometimes it is deliberate...

I blame my mother, she's the same.

I was told that even when I managed to keep my mouth shut my face still ran subtitles 🤣🤣

Thanks for the new thread, just checking in. Today has been rage inducing and I suspect, like others, Dr U will be a no show tomorrow.

Yes, it will be interesting to see if he's robust enough to endure probing questions form a woman.

KnottyAuty · 06/02/2025 23:23

I missed the end today as I had to pop out. Had JR finished her questions? Who is up next?

I'm stealing that as it is so true!

And back on topic, Dr U gives subtitles we can all see.

Bannedontherun · 06/02/2025 23:27

@KnottyAuty tomorrow morning NC cross examines DU we can all barely wait for it and if he is a no show.

Try copying that as I've hopefully done it without it putting a hyperlink thingy whatnot on it

Good luck.

I have a right eyebrow that raises involuntarily whenever I'm around bullshit. I'd be screwed around Dr U.

Mollyollydolly · 06/02/2025 23:33

Sandie's mam seems to have joined twitter too. She's posted this. It seems genuine as her grand-daughter said 'love you gran' in the replies.

"As Sandie’s mum I would like to thank everyone for your generous contributions to Alex fundraiser. It’s been an exceptionally difficult time for our family but the compassion shown to Sandie is absolutely overwhelming"

murasaki · 06/02/2025 23:38

Well i hope that all three generations of women (and her husband) who had to stand up there take some comfort from it. The support is visible and real .

Bannedontherun · 06/02/2025 23:41

Fuck, sob….

LipbalmOrKnickers · 06/02/2025 23:42

It's properly heartwarming, well done vipers. 💜

Did I recall there was some mention of anaesthesia? Coming round after anaesthetic I have been known to be very vocal. I just compared the fatness of everyone in the room (luckily none of them were too fat) and was saying how lovely everyone looked. This is a common type of thing to happen after anaesthesia so Drs must be aware that patients say stuff that may be mildly offensive and have to deal with it. How would the Dr cope?

Mmmnotsure · 06/02/2025 23:47

Chrysanthemum5 · 06/02/2025 23:00

There is a trans woman on Twitter who talks about how his mum has dementia and every time he sees his mum he insists on explaining that he's a woman etc and won't let up until she accepts it.

That to me is classic male privilege

"That to me is classic male privilege"

That to me is classic abuse.

Dr Upton has AFAIK done nothing to reassign his gender. No surgery, no drugs.

Oh come on now, he's had his ears pieced. That's gender reassignment surgery right there.

His dangly earrings could be clip-ons. I do hope you haven't been subjecting him to auricular inspection.

I dread having anaesthesia ever again. When I had my knee replacement I distinctly remember coming round, struggling and shouting "Fuck of you c**ts". I couldn't look the consultant in the eye afterwards.

Dp tells a story about anaesthesia as a teenager, where on waking up he demanded a pie, tried to discharge himself to get a pie, almost hit people in his attempt to get a pie (there were no pies), and was eventually put back in bed. But then he is northern .

He is both ashamed of his behaviour but having seen clips 0n YouTube of people reacting badly to anaesthesia sort of justifies himself. I just laugh. Poor staff though, luckily he's not and never was a big man.
