Despite telling the TW it wasn’t his area of expertise and offering to refer him he’s deemed transphobic apparently.

FFS make this BS stop

FRANCE: Gynecologist Suspended From Practice After LGBT Organization Files "Transphobia" Complaint - Reduxx

A French gynecologist has been sanctioned by medical authorities after a trans activist group reported him to the Minister of Equality for comments which they deemed to be “transphobic.” Dr. Victor Acharian, who operates in the Pau region, has been pro...

Im not the remotest bit interested in reading more about it other than the op tbh. But my point stands,

a qualified doctor should treat patients. All doctors are trained in all areas they specialise later

Doctors are given very basic medical training in all areas, mostly in the realm of "stop patient from bleeding to death until the specialists turn up". Think M.A.S.H. "meatball surgery". They are well within their rights to refuse to treat a case outwith their specialisation. Would you want an oncologist attempting open heart surgery, or do you think that the oncologist should decline and refer to cardiology?

Jo Bartosch has written about this in Spiked

https://www.spiked-online.com/2025/02/05/men-do-not-have-a-right-to-see-a-gynaecologist/

The bit about gynaecological porn is just 🤢 but, sadly, unsurprising. I hope it doesn't play a part in encouraging men (of any gender) into medicine.

Men do not have a right to see a gynaecologist

Doctors in France are being forced to affirm the delusions of trans activists.

It's Spiked, but looks like a reasonable article:

Can't edit, but just realized it was posted already. Sorry.

Jo Bartosch writes very well imo. Worth posting twice 😃

I've lived and given birth in France.
Just to clarify, when booking an appointment on Doctolib, you can book directly with a gynae. The name and specialism of the Dr is very clearly marked, and you have to select the specialism you want, so it wouldn't be possible to mistakenly book an appointment with a gynaecologist instead of a GP. Plus the specialism is indicated on the sign at the door.

A GP appointment is MUCH quicker and easier to obtain, they can refer you on to the appropriate medical professional if necessary.

SeethingHarpie · 06/02/2025 03:06

Just realised that the Dr was a Gynaecologist and Obstetrician - so many women who are pregnant/giving birth would be impacted by the suspension…

I'm fluent in French and the tone of his message is extremely aggressive and doesn't just say that he is not qualified to treat the patient.

If a highly qualified medical specialist who has spent years learning his subject — sometimes struggling with the highly complex female reproductive system, sometimes having to break the news that a condition is terminal — gets irritated by a male fantasist wanting to waste his time, I’d cut the doctor all the slack he wants.

Hairyesterdaygonetoday · 03/09/2025 19:35

Wasting police time is a criminal offence. When I read stories like this, I think maybe wasting a doctor’s time should be too. Meanwhile a woman may have missed her chance of a life-saving diagnosis.

I also understand French and I'd say his message is blunt, but not aggressive.

JellySaurus · 03/09/2025 21:13

Unusual in this debate for a man to be told off for his tone. It's usually women who are told off for not expressing themselves sufficiently demurely.

I work with several French people. Their 'polite' is our 'blunt'. Their 'blunt' is our "You can't say that". My small experience of French people is that they say what they mean and mean what they say. Actually quite refreshing. It's a cultural difference.

If you spent time with Dutch people, you'd stop considering French people blunt. I agree with those who call his message 'direct'. Maybe, it's a better word than blunt.

Aren't most gynaecologists also obstetricians? In any case, pregnant women being impacted is no worse than other women being impacted.

I'd go with 'direct' too.
I do hope good sense prevails.

I'll see your Dutch and raise you Germans. (in a country with SelfID it is currently quite challenging for some of them, but they manage)

Sorry, but the Dutch are franker even than the Germans.

German are direct. The Dutch are regarded as rude in comparison.

I get on very well with Dutch people. They are straight forward. English politeness isn't necessarily a good thing.

moto748e · 04/09/2025 16:41

When is the world going to grow up and recognise that gynaecologists treat women, and not a cohort of entitled men (who surely don't require medical treatment, but are just stirring the shit?). And as many have said, it's his female patients that suffer.

RedToothBrush · 04/09/2025 17:24

LittleBitofBread · 04/09/2025 16:26

I see your German and Dutch and raise you Danish

Edited

My Dutch friend refers to the Danish as like the Dutch but just miserable grumpy fuckers. Apparently it's a stereotype that's widely used.

I couldnt tell you as to whether there is any accuracy to it.

GrinThe few Danish people I've met in more than passing, I'd say they are very undemonstrative and to the point. Wouldn't quite say miserable grumpy fuckers.

SirBasil · 05/09/2025 15:25

i must admit that i know a lot more Germans than Dutch. But the Dutch people i know are mostly about as direct and straightforward as the Germans.

Agree the Danes add a whole other layer!!
