The only thing I can think of is posting on a UK sub about male violence. A man said that it’s not just men who have a problem with being violent because he’d been assaulted by a trans woman. I replied, “how did you know your assailant was trans?”.

They literally have subs for men to masturbate to videos of women who have a look of being “dead behind the eyes” they’ve been abused so much.

(It’s either that or somebody doesn’t like my crochet advice).

I’ll welcome you into the short club flirts - even if standing next to me you’d obviously be about a foot taller than I am, but I need someone to get things off high shelves for me so, you’re in.

FFS what is it with the -phobia!

JUST BECAUSE I HAVE THE TYPE OF BODY THAT CAN REACH HIGH SHELVES DOESN'T MEAN I'M NOT SHORT! SHORT IS NOT ABOUT HEIGHT, STOP REDUCING ME TO MY BODY!

I AM JUST AS VALID A SHORTARSE AS YOU ARE AND ASKING ME TO REACH HIGH SHELVES IS VERY HURTFUL!

I have missed a couple of pages. Did we get clarification about the evidence that is supposed to support the claim that the majority of lesbians accept male people as women and lesbians and that the majority of lesbians believe that male people can change sex and access female single sex spaces?

I don't believe the person who made this claim will clarify the data, as they have ignored requests to do so, but maybe someone else who agrees with that poster will be able to explain how the question about positive or negative feelings towards transgender people has been extrapolated to support the claim that it was said to.

Anyone?

Nope

Helleofabore · 03/01/2025 15:46

I think we have to remember that people who declare that they are experts and arbitrate who is transgender and who is not, while making statements about groups who declare they are transgender not being true transgender people (ie. ignores transgender voices), are probably very happy to then arbitrate on who is a lesbian and who is not, while ignoring the lesbian voices on the topic.

I mean if someone has appointed themselves on threads to be the voice for transgender people, while arbitrating who is and isn't trans while declaring so many others on the thread to be transphobic, then we can really only expect the same on a thread discussing lesbians.

And if the evidence they declare is fully supporting their claims, doesn't show what they claim at all, then why should that stop them making the claim anyway. I believe that they have decided that they are the experts on lesbians as well as transgender people.

This is the root of so much of the mischief, isn't it? If genderists hadn't taken the route of (naively or cynically) appropriating existing words still required for their original purposes, but had creatively addressed the need for a whole new vocabulary, a lot of the nonsense that has been in evidence on this thread, and elsewhere, could have been avoided.

Keep man, woman, gay, lesbian to their original meanings, already well understood by the man and woman in the street. Make new words for the new categories such as "people, regardless of body type, who feel feminine" (or masculine), and "people who feel feminine who are are attracted to people who feel feminine" (I like your "femmamory"). These are interesting new concepts that widen the understanding of human nature and should have their own terminology, instead of stealing old terminology from concepts that still exist.

Ah, but there's a reason they don't invent new words. There is method in their madness.

The reason why many transwomen who are attracted to women don't go after straight women is that straight women like men.

The reason lesbians are targeted is because lesbians only like women.

It's all in the validation.

Same reason many transwomen won't use gender neutral toilets. Because men can use those. It's not validating. India willoughby famously traipsed halfway across an airport to find a female only toilet. Gotta get that validation.

Homosexuality, and in particular lesbianism, is nothing more than a tool for men to use.

There was even a trans identified man writing about not really being satisfied with a woman who's bisexual. Just in case, when she's with him, she views him as male, not female, and he can't actually tell. Much better to go straight for the lesbian and remove all doubt.

Loud and clear @ellenback21 and @DowntonCrabbie you have decided that 10s of millions of lesbians in the world aren’t lesbians and you are more than happy to explain to those lesbians that they aren’t in fact lesbians. I hear you.

Edited

Lostcat, I wonder whether you think we should have any clearly defined words at all, or are all words fluid in meaning now?

If we should, which ones? Who decides? Can we still use a dictionary, or is that also transphobic?

You seem to believe that there should be no clearly defined groups for any purposes (because the labels we used to use for them have had their meaning changed). What has led you to this position? I wonder how the world is supposed to work in practice if we all adopted those views?

Is it ever ok to have universally agreed on definitions, which can be used to describe certain groups of people for legitimate purposes? If not, why not? How is this brave new world supposed to function?

If I'm a doctor and I'm prescribing medication / diagnosing a patient/ looking at normal ranges of observations or tests, I will need to know whether the patient is in the group (formerly known as) female, or in the group formerly known as male. Am I allowed to notice the differences between female and male patients?if so, what words do I use? If not, how do I avoid misdiagnosis or making prescribing errors?

You haven't responded to any of my previous direct questions about how this is all supposed to actually work either here or on other threads, but I really am interested and would love to hear your thoughts.

Yeah. It certainly doesn't fulfil a person's identity needs to have to use a term that ensures that they are never to be considered the very identity they demand to be viewed as.

But, hey... apparently there is no misogyny at all in the forced redefinition of the words needed for female people to describe their lives to include a group of male people. Nope..... no misogyny in that act at all.

Are you mocking trans people? Or lesbians and gay people who are attracted to trans people? Or both? I’ve lost track of who the targets are for your (collective ) contempt and ridicule?

You'd think it would get bloody old, wouldn't you. Having one's arguments exposed to this extent, over and over.

I don't think I ever got an answer to my 'let's play spot the sexism' on how a man lives as a woman, either.

There's a horrid fascination, watching someone doggedly cling to an argument so daft, but it does make you wonder what on earth is the point.

No one is mocking people.

They are mocking the absolutely ridiculous idea that you can change the definition of words, willy-nilly, depending on what day it is.

For example, needing the word lesbian to mean women who are attracted to women, so that men can target them, at which point it doesn't mean that at all.

ellenback21 · 03/01/2025 16:38

@Lostcat is not going to engage with any of the arguments. All @Lostcat has is the very dated #BeKind schtick, and appears to be using it with increasing desperation

So does that include lesbians who are attracted to trans women and say they are lesbians?
Does it include trans women who say they are women?

Are they the targets for your contempt and ridicule?

I really do wonder whether they believe the stuff they're coming out with. Or whether it's just a nice way to demonstrate their contempt for women.

Either way, it's bound to lead to clarity for a lot of lurkers - I know it did for me c.8 years ago. In so far as I'd given the topic any thought, I thought 'why not be kind? '. But then I read the arguments and thought 'hang on, this is leading to a really problematic clash of rights, and the other position seems to be just illogical nonsense'. I haven't read anything in 8 years that has made me think that pro gender identity people actually have any arguments. It all just seems to be about male validation.

If they really think they are lesbians while being heavily into cock, there's every reason to snigger. But I'd more feel pity.

As for transwoman who say they are women, it depends how they behave. If they're demanding entry to women's spaces and taking women's space, then contempt and ridicule is the.least of it.

People are what they are, not always what they say they are.

Lol. In your world, that could be two men.

In your world, two men fellating each other could be called lesbian sex.

Equally so could a man and a woman having sex to conceive a baby.

It's risible jibber jabber.

Indeed it could. But these inconsistencies are to be dismissed as transphobia and homophobia remember.

Again.... no misogyny here to see... none at all.

In the context of the discussion this sounded like mocking trans people, and gay people attracted to trans people.
