This is why so many women voted Trump

I’m not saying it’s right, I’m not saying it’s worth the horrors of the Trump administration (and what other women’s rights will be abolished). However, I can also empathise. Books like this are everywhere in baby sections of bookshops in USA. My american friend is naturally more conservative than myself although hated Trump and didn’t vote for him previously (she abstained and then she went Biden although she says she seriously regrets) and this time she voted Trump. She said this stuff is now everywhere and it’s constant. She also showed me a baby’s ABC book which included B for bisexual (and literally then described it as people who are sexually attracted to either gender). For babies.

"Anyone that says men can be women is automatically a liar"

What do you mean by this?

It means you aren't listening and it means no one trusts someone who says things that go against uncontroversial known truths which the majority understand.

Tandora · 10/11/2024 12:11

Circumferences · 10/11/2024 12:08

"semantics" 🙄

The TWAW and TMAM mantra is one of the core, fundamental beliefs of extreme gender ideology.

It's a lie. A harmful damaging lie. People aren't accepting it anymore. It's the number 1 myth of this ideology.

Anything else that is said by someone who believes this is going to inevitably raise suspicion.

"extreme gender ideology"?

You mean acceptance of trans people? Recognition that they exist, and that they deserve basic human dignity and respect?

Laughing at the idea I'm the one who's not listening.

No.

We mean Extremist Cricket Level Behaviour.

wincarwoo · 10/11/2024 12:11

@Tandora in what do you base your claim on"some children are trans?"

Are children trans if adults don't suggest or affirm?

RedToothBrush · 10/11/2024 12:12

And anyone who supports Cricket Lovers as being reasonable.

Circumferences · 10/11/2024 12:12

Tandora · 10/11/2024 12:07

Well it's ok because I never said "some children don't have a sex".

When you agreed with this

No but you said 'every word in the book' which is the subject of the book is factual.

The book says -

Some people are boys, some people are girls, some people are neither, some people are both.

So some people do not have a sex.

That's batshit. Everyone has a sex. Most people don't believe in gender.

Datun · 10/11/2024 12:14

Will you stop with this one? Or alternatively share the post where I said the words "some children don't have a sex".

I'm pointing out that we all make claims about who we are / our expertise at times. I make claims about my knowledge about education and safeguarding. Nobody knows whether this is true - I can only be judged on the basis of my posts. Eg, if I post inaccuracies about safeguarding legislation / policy then others will judge that my claimed expertise is lacking.

MNHQ quite rightly remind us about this. Retaining a scepticism about who may be behind what we're reading is a good thing.

Sure. So that is where we are.

I made a claim about who I am which is true. However, I can't prove it without outing myself.

You have no way of verifying if my statement is true and will therefore either believe it or disbelieve it as your inclinations tell you.

It was pointless for that user to ask me to share my experience and it was pointless for me to honestly respond.

Next?

I accept trans people.
I agree that everyone has the right to express themselves. (No including indecent exposure etc ofc) To dress how they want, love who they want.

I do not believe TWAW or TWAM. But I DO accept that TWATW and TMATM. These people deserve kindness, but not my total abandonment of reality.

Thankfully this thread is nearly full up. Hopefully it won't be carried onto a part 2.

No this does not follow. You do not understand the book.

Furthermore in one of my earliest posts, I clarified that I think that particular statement is an over simplification which endeavours to explain trans experience in a way that a small child might understand.

We know they exist.
We do not think they're being reasonable to ask for basic human dignity, when they want to remove that same dignity from women and girls, by invading their single-sex, safe spaces. Or by insisting that TW should be allowed to compete as actual women in competitive sport.

That is unreasonable, and we're not accepting it just because men tell us to.

So basically you accept trans people and recognise they deserve kindness, but you are going to get into a rage over a semantic argument about whether the acronym assigned to explain their experience should have 4 or 6 letters? And the fact that some people prefer 4 letters is justification to vote for Trump?

Of course I understand the book.

Don't be so patronising.

It's complete anti-science / post truth bullshit.

it should not be taught to any one, let alone impressionable children. That you think it is factual tells me exactly what I need to know about you and your opinions.

Anyway to the point of the thread. Commentators are saying that this is 3rd biggest reason that Trump gained the swing voters after trade and immigration.

The GOP saw it was a way to win votes and spent 21million dollars on an add campaign.

People are sick to the teeth of having a post truth ideology forced on us which is harming women & children.

Unfortunately for you Tandora you are increasingly speaking to a void. I just don't care about your opinions.

So you do understand the book @Tandora?

You know that there are only two sexes, male and female, and that human beings are one or the other. Yes?

So that sentence in the book is nonsense, isn't it.

You have successfully managed to contradict yourself and tie yourself in knots with your own comments numerous times on this thread.

It really does undermine your credibility.

There's a propaganda technique where you use your social status to inflate the value of the opinion you hold too, which you are doing here.

Ultimately the leveller on MN is you have to make an argument that stands on its own two feet. It has to have solid basis in reality AND acceptance by social. (The concept of sex over gender has both btw).

Saying that children don't have a sex and that sex isn't immutable and that you have a qualification that makes you super intelligent and more well versed and educated in this subject, doesn't help you.

You are Harris.

You are doing the whole "im educated and knows better than you, you should be listening to me and if you don't listen to me, I'll call you uneducated and bigotted" dance that Trump has ultimately cashed in on.

It's amazing to see such replication in real time for anyone still questioning quite what it is that helped Trump win.

"Some people are boys, some people are girls, some people are neither, some people are both.

That sentence is a simplified way to capture a range of trans experience in language simple enough for a small child to understand.

The first statement of the book about 'boy' and 'girl' being labels to describe someone who has a penis or a vagina, is accurate and helpful.

It's got nothing to do with acronyms and everything to do with biology.
Transwomen are just that.

If they were actually women, they wouldn't need the prefix.
