Its a bit early to start counting really but I got so fed up with all the talking heads this seemed a better option.

Just to look at now and again.

Although if the allocation of votes continues like this I am thinking of emigrating to another planet.

Or maybe I can dive down to Atlantis. I am sure they have a policy of accepting refugees from male madness, testosterone soap box politics, and quite likely some global meltdown.

Sorry late night doziness.

The numbers in bold are the Electoral College numbers, as is 270 total.

The other figures are the popular vote, which as we know from when Clinton didn't become president doesn't mean you will become president even if you have more individual (popular) votes.

Yes, that's what I was trying to find too - the stats and no opinions.

I know a lot of American states use voting machines, so I'm assuming that would make counting votes potentially quicker than using paper ballots...🤔

46.7% popular vote
29,262,953 popular votes

Especially if it's close, it will be a while before anything is confirmed - like, late in the week later, potentially.

I will be surprised if it's Harris though.

I voted for the first time. You get a ballot paper from the poll person, put it in a machine. Make your choices on the computer. Review them, then confirm and print the ballot. Take the ballot to another area and put it in a bin/another computer. Gosh I can’t remember.

This is Texas. I went with my neighbour first day of voting to make sure I got it done

Crikey.

This is bad.

Some people didn't vote for Harris because she's a woman. I heard them say so in vox pox interviews. Will America ever accept a female leader or is the psychological barrier too high? It's all quite bleak.

How is it bad? It's a fantastic result for the protection of women and girls from gender ideology.

NotTerfNorCis · 06/11/2024 06:44

Whatever Trump's own beliefs, he's leading an insular, paranoid, right wing movement that opposes abortion and elevates evangelical Christians and the far right. This is NOT good for women.

I'm also against genderism, but not at this cost.

Depends on the woman I think, for example Michelle Obama would likely win, Harris was vp and achieved very little and by the time she became candidate it was late , too late for her campaign to convince the public enough she was really not as crap as she seemed as vp. People who are voting for her, are voting against trump, rather than for her.

bit like here when folks voted reform, it was against the tories.

American however want more cash in their pockets due to th4 col crisis, and trump will give them that. We went the other way, we voted for less cash in our pockets.

Dinososaurus · 06/11/2024 06:52

Trump doesn't oppose abortion, he just created a situation whete the individual state can make it's own decision which is better.
Women who support abortion or feel they might want one can move to a state where abortion is legal.

You should watch Kellie-Jay's video from last night as she explains it really well.

100% agree

I think it's become clear that many Americans' voting attitude is "anyone but a woman". It's a sad world.

Backwoods57 · 06/11/2024 07:04

I didn't vote Harris primarily because I didn't believe her on gun control.

Sausagenbacon · 06/11/2024 07:14

Just because they find a few vox pops that say that doesn't make it true.
I'm not happy that Trump might win, in fact I find it astonishing that people would vote for him. But to reduce it to gender is ridiculous.
For a start, whether she is a woman or not, she was not a great candidate.

quixote9 · 06/11/2024 07:16

To the people here saying a plus point to Repubs is they're not in the tank for the whole trans crap:

No, they're in the tank for Stepford wives crap. That is NOT pro-woman. Or pro-man. Or pro-human.

Yes, Dems are hopeless on the issue.

But it looks like we're headed into an abyss because of a demented goon who can wait to ingratiate himself with Putin by handing him Ukraine. (And guess what Putin will be eyeing next?) Who can't wait to turn the whole world into a roaster to own the libs. Who gets his kicks rounding people up into camps.

If we're not saved at the 11th hour with a Harris Presidency and a Dem House, it's going to be grim.

Maaate · 06/11/2024 07:26

Trump is a terrible person but we had all this apocalyptic nonsense the last time he was elected.

NotBadConsidering · 06/11/2024 07:32

That is not entirely true. There will be a protection of women’s college sport with a removal of the Obama administration’s amendment on Title IX because Republicans believe men shouldn’t be in women’s sport, because they’re men. Not because of any Stepford wives crap.

They’ll help protect children from medical treatments that will leave them sterilised and sexually dysfunctional because they don’t believe children can be trans and can consent to treatments that will leave them medicalised for life. Not because of any Stepford wives crap.

Yes, conservatives believe in traditional gender roles, but they also know nonsense when they see it and are capable of doing things for the right reasons too.

Toseland · 06/11/2024 07:34

I'm pleased - Trump will stop gender ideology - no more men playing with their exposed boobs on the White House lawn and hopefully no more Admiral Levine.
I know Harris' party has made a good deal out of crying 'abortion rights' but unless 'women are women' then there are no women's rights.

Hoardasurass · 06/11/2024 07:35

@NotBadConsidering the thing is that for many people it's not about who will make things better but who will do the least damage and unfortunately it's true for most voters
