And the questions must be asked: Why did Labor keep Safe Schools and rename it Respectful Relationships? More paedophile apologists. This needs to extend to Labor too.

I just read this in an article about Morgan McSweeney.
" His formative experience was rebuilding Labour in Lambeth, south London, where a Trotsykist faction had become so dedicated to opposing Thatcher that it missed a historic child abuse scandal under its nose."
This is the problem once you've identified your villains you start believing you're fighting a grand heroic battle and can't see the wood for the trees.

So KJK turns up, introduces herself, says some short remarks, has a very short singalong, then gives the mic to other people for the rest of the event.

I don't know exactly what % of the time she spends speaking at the events that she personally organises, but I guess it's a good bit less than 26%.

Peers over spectacles

Helleofabore · 06/10/2024 19:37

Indeed Bez.

But remember. Because she did an interview with a person who she quite quickly stated that if he was indeed a nazi, she abhorred nazis and white supremists, she is to be forever tarnished with that act.

Fuck knows what would have happened if she was interviewed by a far left ANTIFA person, would that have been ok? Would she have been allowed to even then announce she didn't agree with them on politics if she found differences?

Apparently, this is where society is.

People cannot do interviews with anyone unless they have checked that they agree with that person 100% on all their political views. Else they will be always tarnished as being aligned with that person / group.

No one then looks at the transcript of the interview and says, actually, this person was there to discuss this one issue and they didn't make statements that are false, they may have been blunt but their statements are generally ones that are supported by the majority..... No. No one is allowed to interview anyone who they disagree with, no one is allowed to be interviewed by a person who has reach into an audience who is interested in your topic even if you and the group disagree on many other significant things. It is siloed thinking and it is tribal.

The tribalness of this thinking is remarkable. And yet, this is how this leadership team, and how others, have reacted.

But now apparently, no one will discuss any positive speakers at these rallies, it is all about the negative aspects. And people who are focusing on the negative aspects do all those amazing women and girls who have spoken a disservice.

There doesn’t seem to be any judgement applied to these deletions.

There were some fantastic speeches, not least the one from Moira Deeming herself.

I spelled it "Labor" that is the Australian Labor Party. More specifically I should have said the Victorian branch of the ALP. Who chose to keep the Safe Schools Guidance and renaming it Respectful Relationships while the other states binned it.

Let Only the Women Who Have Thought Really Hard About This preapproved list of important topics & Can Show Their Working (and credentials) Speak.

Let Only the Really Cool Women Speak none of the riff raff, please!

Honestly, the possibilities are endless. I'm quite excited to see what this will look like, once the proper feminists have worked out the selection criteria.

That’s going to be hard to fit on a t-shirt.

Those are two quite different initiatives. One is part of the curriculum while the other is not.

There is no need to reach, automatically, for bad people or right wingers who I might be 'aligned with'.....you need only to think back over the years (on this very board ) of us following the various court cases of those other people who have had to seek legal recourse when their employers, in a variety of institutions, have treated them appallingly, on account of thise institutions having been captured by post modernistic theories. Jo Phoenix, James Esses, Kathleen Stock, Alison Bailey.....

AlisonDonut · 07/10/2024 07:28

Woman in park: I'm just going to take a photo of that flower, it is beautiful

Random man: BEAUTIFUL? Did you say BEAUTIFUL? So you agree with JAMES BLUNT THEN? JAMES BLUNT rhymes with C*NT. NAZIS are
CUNTS. So you are a NAZI THEN?

Woman and everyone else in the park: Huh? WTF?

TheSandgroper · 07/10/2024 07:41

Ooh, a teeny, weeny win. The ABC acknowledges that the neo nazi's were gatecrashers at the LWS rally. KJK is still an anti trans rights person, though.

It was literally the example I initially gave to illustrate the "culture war" angle:

I do know plenty of people who think that worrying about "capture" of schools and a deep state infiltration of the civil service by transactivists (a la Liz Truss) is a culture war.

You then came to tell me "culture war is just a meme used to dismiss, without further thought, alternative perspectives and values."

So I was just clarifying you thought Liz Truss was right and I hadn't given her statement "further thought and alternative perspectives" before calling it a culture war.

It's nothing to do with me thinking you are "aligned" with anyone. It's to do with you referring to a specific point I made and saying I had used a thought terminating cliche, when from my perspective Liz Truss pretty clearly was using a culture war angle.

BezMills · 07/10/2024 08:51

information that was easily available contemporaneously is eventually and begrudgingly admitted as true facts 6 months later, by an actual NEWS organisation, which had uncritically reported absolute bullshit which was (could have been) easily fact-checked as such. (edit for clarity)

What part of "NEW"s do they not understand.

Talking of Liz Truss, conspiracy theories and agreement:

"We need to be prepared to defund state media," she said, which was followed by claps and cheers from the crowd.
"Now, I don’t know which is worse, the BBC or ABC but I’ve been on both of them and they’re both pretty bad.
"But we need to be prepared to do those bold, tough things that (are) going to make us unpopular with the elite."

The event was gatecrashed by neo-Nazis, some of whom performed the now-illegal Nazi salute.

I wonder how many people are thinking, for fuck's sake, what the fuck is all this about, given that everyone now knows these men gate crashed.

Well, no. What is your issue with Respectful Relationships, exactly?

FeralWoman · 07/10/2024 09:14

Why do news articles continually refer to Pesutto as the alternative Premier? They’re giving him more importance and authority than he has. Are they trying to associate the name Pesutto with Premier? Unless a state election has been called then he’s just the Opposition Leader.

I should check what relationships/sex education my DD is being exposed to at her school. Usually in my state they get the state family planning association to do presentations. No religion involved.

Goodness. Liz Truss clearly doesn't understand the purpose of the ABC in an enormous country. It exists in TV, radio, and digital forms over several channels and in regional areas. It isn't commercial in any way.

I would hate to think Family Planning would start giving out information inappropriate to age groups. Family Planning was a really important resource for me as a young adult.
