I'm so sad to see her go, she was the shining light within the Labour camp.

Really sad to see her go, I’m not surprised though she’s put up with so much.

ArabellaScott · 28/09/2024 17:53

Rosie. Flowers

A woman of principles.

ReadWithScepticism · 28/09/2024 17:57

Very principled-sounding resignation letter. Is it clear whether she is resigning as an MP or simply resigning the Labour whip?
Wish she could stay as a independent. But perhaps she has got some other future role lined up in which she could campaign on the gender critical side in a context where she would actually receive some organisational support.

Catsanfan · 28/09/2024 17:58

I admire her for this

ATowerOfGiraffes · 28/09/2024 18:03

She is still remaining as Independent....
Full letter:

"I am confident that I can continue to do so as an independent MP"

She's going to be sitting as an independent according to the article in The Times, so she will remain in parliament.

Took the words out of my mouth! She knows she can look herself in the eye in the mirror. A big loss to Labour.

Glad she is remaining as an Independent.

PronounssheRa · 28/09/2024 18:05

I think she held on as long as she could. But I'm guessing it's becoming increasingly difficult to defend some of the decisions Labour are currently making.

StainlessSteelMouse · 28/09/2024 18:06

Resigned from the party, it looks like.

Villagetoraiseachild · 28/09/2024 18:08

Labour's loss. Who knows what she had to put up as well as the more recent nonsense.

An even bigger loss for women though. Who is going to speak up for us now?

Could she start a MumsNet party?

radishess · 28/09/2024 18:10

concerned that she knows summat is afoot. (they say one thing but they do something else)

kiterunning · 28/09/2024 18:12

Rosie! Hope you're ok.
You're so brave and have so many friends on here!

Outte · 28/09/2024 18:17

This is a shame, she was much more useful to women inside the Labour Party.

Circumferences · 28/09/2024 18:18

There's an increasing number of independent MPs joining forces so hopefully she'll join them

Floisme · 28/09/2024 18:19

Crikey, I hadn't seen that coming.

murasaki · 28/09/2024 18:19

She's had enough. And fairly so. She's a brave and principled woman.

LunaNorth · 28/09/2024 18:20

He really has fucked it up, hasn’t he?

Edited

She was, or would have been if Starmer would ever talk to her. Everyone has a line in the sand, and hers has been crossed or ignored too many times.

Lovelyview · 28/09/2024 18:21

I'm sorry she's left but she had to put up with so much from Labour. It was good to have her in the party but at least Labour Women's Declaration is stronger now.

PermanentTemporary · 28/09/2024 18:22

I hope she doesn't end up in Ref*rm. They will be schmoozing her.

Toseland · 28/09/2024 18:22

Oh dear. What does she know that we don't?

Extremely unlikely, vanishingly so, given what she's said.
