I'm so sad to see her go, she was the shining light within the Labour camp.

I to think his days are numbered, and I predict that Free Gear Kier will be stabbed in the back by Angela Rayner, it'll be Momentum who gives her the knife, she'll be caretaker PM for just as long as it takes Moment to get Corbyn installed as the new PM.

That's nonsense, Corbyn isn't a Labour MP for a start. I'm sorry to see Rosie leave Labour but I admire her principles.

Some info on Lord Alli

See yours and raise you one.

Rumour has it there maybe something big coming on Sunday and Free Gear Keir will be toast by Tuesday. 😱

I’ll be surprised if so

But Labour and cronies churned the media to get in so live by the sword and all that

ACatCalledPushka · 28/09/2024 20:51

A bit gutted to be honest as a Labour member in her constituency.

Anastomosisrex · 28/09/2024 20:57

What a letter, no punches pulled there. Starmer may end up being the next Liz Truss.

Bravo Rosie. Ovaries of steel, and actual principles in a time when there are precious few left in any party.

Fair play to you for being honest. And not giving it but but but the tories.

Helleofabore · 28/09/2024 21:03

Seeing Free Gear Kier reminds me we need more of this

Rosie being interviewed

Thanks @TheywontletmehavethenameIwant. Well worth listening to.

I wonder who the angry ‘household name’ MPs are?

I bought a lettuce today...I feel some googly eyes coming on! 👀 🤣

Also annoying that I donated to her election campaign as I thought she’d be a strong voice for women’s rights within the party.

Snowypeaks · 28/09/2024 21:27

She's as strong a voice for women's rights outside the party as she is in it, and LWD would probably say that they are the voice for women's rights within Labour.

musicalfrog · 28/09/2024 21:32

She's been ignored by the leader for years, how is that fair? Good on her for speaking out so honestly and eloquently, I wish her all the best.

Wouldn't it be amazing if enough MPs left so they didn't have such a huge majority after all...

Runor · 28/09/2024 21:33

I think she’ll be a stronger voice outside the party - she may well get more media attention.

V curious about ‘tomorrow’s revelations’ - aren’t the Sunday papers available in London now, or very soon, so if it was that big, surely it would be landing about now?!

GargoylesofBeelzebub · 28/09/2024 21:35

She really does have more principles and backbone than the rest of the Labour party put together doesn't she?

ACatCalledPushka · 28/09/2024 20:51

Me too. But hope she'll still be able to stand up for what's right as an independent as she always has done. Not sure she'll keep her seat next election though, think she was carried in by people voting for anyone but Tory this time. Fingers crossed though.

Grammarnut · 28/09/2024 21:58

InandOutlander · 28/09/2024 17:49

So she is sitting as an independent?

itwasntmetho · 28/09/2024 22:05

I love Rosie, she's so classy.

Not sure she’d win as an independent. Her constituency had been true blue until she won in 2017.

MrsRobinsonsHandprints · 28/09/2024 19:50

After all she has been through and she walks now.

It says so much

It's certainly worrying.

I think she will. People are so disappointed in just how bad Labour is, I think she will have a resounding victory,

She probably has a stronger voice out of it, starmer is very heavy handed and dictatorial.

I live in the constituency and sadly I don’t think that will happen..

IwantToRetire · 28/09/2024 22:35

I think her resigning is brilliant. And dont know at which point she decided to give up of the complete hyper inner circle management of Labour that has turning it into a valueless party.

I hope she knew she was going to when standing for Labour at the GE knowing that it would have more impact to resign after getting the seat than standing as an independent.

Revenge is a dish best eaten cold.

Well done Rosie.

Also this is a step towards what I hope will happen is that a few more Labour MPs with integrity resign and stay on as independents. There is already an informal grouping of ex Labour now independent MPs.

Should their numbers grow, they could have real on which votes Labour can win in the HoC.

And I hope all the toe-the-line Labour MPs who allowed the Labour Party to be taken over by such a sleazy amoral group of cronies start to feel ashamed.

Halo
BotterMon · 28/09/2024 22:38

Rosie's my hero. To have written a resignation with so much honesty rather than the usual political waffle is something to be admired.

KohlaParasaurus · 28/09/2024 22:41

Rosie Duffield has been very patient for a long time and I am intrigued as to why she's chosen this time to resign from the Labour party. I really hope there isn't some big scandal looming. I didn't vote Labour (I was happy to see the Conservative party ousted from power but wanted my local Conservative MP to go back to Westminster in opposition) but I dared to hope for a period of competent and sleaze-free government.

I like to think Ms Duffield will be more effective as an Independent MP than she was able to be inside the party.
