Trans woman murdered in Georgia, and an assault in England

https://www.msn.com/en-in/news/world/trans-model-killed-in-tbilisi-after-georgia-passes-law-imposing-lgbtq-restrictions/ar-AA1qTM6V

A trans woman was murdered in Georgia (the country), just after a "pro family" anti-LGBT bill was passed. The law bans same-sex marriage, gender-affirming treatments, pride books and events etc.

https://uk.news.yahoo.com/dangerous-far-teenagers-brutal-assault-171552704.html

In Swansea, England a trans girl was attacked in a park by a man "using marital art moves". It happened in May but has came to light now after his phone was searched by anti-terrorism officers. The attacker is far-right, glorifies acts of terrorism, is anti-immigration and yes homophobic and transphobic.

Any lessons to be learned from these 2 cases? Do anti-LGBT laws and over-indulgence to online far-right material result in violence and people being hurt or killed?

Given not only did you think that Swansea is England but when even the link you posted which goes to an article from WALES online (in large font)

My guess is that the explanation is that the poster is one of mumsnet’s North American visitors.

That’s what I’ve always assumed

SALaw · 20/09/2024 14:07

England?!

TWETMIRF · 20/09/2024 14:07

I think what we were supposed to say is that we are glad this happened and that all trans people should be killed. That is the picture they are so desperately trying to paint of everyone who is a gender critical feminist.

Back in the real world however, we are not the violent ones, it's men who get off on violence. Until men sort their shit out, things will not improve

Ereshkigalangcleg · 20/09/2024 14:08

Recently that transwoman who live streamed themself murdering and dissecting a cat, then murdered a woman- was jailed.

Just to clarify he murdered a man, Jorge Carreño.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 20/09/2024 14:09

However, here in the UK, I doubt this xenophobic, racist, homophobic and transphobic man got radicalised on Mumsnet.

Quite.

Anti trans ideology and facism are becoming one and the same.

Anti Trans ideology and fascism are becoming one and the same.

There, fixed it for you.

NewGreenDuck · 20/09/2024 14:15

The murder in Georgia seems to have been one where the parties were known to one another. So I wouldn't jump to conclusions about that.
As for the incident in Swansea, the young man probably would have assaulted anyone who was a bit different.
So, no, I'm not thinking either was specifically about trans legislation / issues etc.

WoopsLiza · 20/09/2024 14:19

It always irritates me when people decide whatever political position they are opposed to must be fascist.

Fascism is a worked-through political ideology that is coherent within itself and not just "extremely strong opposition to my views".

Indeed.

"You're literally Hitler!!"

🙄

Ereshkigalangcleg · 20/09/2024 14:21

But the fash, yah?

JeremiahBullfrog · 20/09/2024 14:27

There are about a million violent crimes every year in the UK. Just by pure random chance, we would see trans people assaulted on a regular basis.

None of this has much bearing on whether trans ideology is correct or should be given a special status in law. You wouldn't use a high rate of islamophobic assaults on Muslims as an argument that businesses and institutions should force people to accept Islam.

TheCultureHusks · 20/09/2024 14:29
  1. Males are violent, keep them out of women’s spaces
  2. Geography begins at home
yourhairiswinterfire · 20/09/2024 14:37

Aren't you currently on another thread saying that a card held up by a man in a public place about killing women by guillotene wasn't a problem and women have no right getting upitty about it or regarding him as a threat?

Aye.

TRAs threatening women with violence, encouraging others to commit violence against women, being prosecuted for threatening to murder women including a member of Parliament, beating up a pensioner woman etc is nothing, women are overreacting silly sausages for thinking these men might be a threat.

But women on Mumsnet expressing a need for female-only spaces, something our Equality Act acknowledges, is apparently a threat and the reason for male violence worldwide🤔.

Yirk · 20/09/2024 14:51

The model wasn't female!
Female spaces are for females.

Also far right? Someone please, please tell me what that means..

England is to the far right of Wales, at least.

That's funny, if you look at the map it is, but as a Welsh Women I'd have to say not far enough. 🤣

SuperGreens · 20/09/2024 15:20

Violence against men who identify as women by other men certainly seems to be an issue. However I'm not sure what its relevance is to the feminism chat? Especially since many women think men who identify as women have made women less safe on the whole, particularly vulnerable women such those incarcerated with these men.

Anti trans ideology and facism are becoming one and the same.

Hopefully you mean because the terms are so overused and the definition changed so much that they are both becoming meaningless.

Rightsraptor · 20/09/2024 15:38

MN HQ has deleted my post. Why? I was poking fun at OP, which was richly deserved.

Probably it was reported as a 'personal attack' which is against MN rules

I nearly thanked you for this post because I read it as:

SuperGreens

Violence against men who identify as women by other men certainly seems to be an issue.

Is it though, or is it the same as the 'suicide statistics' that were debunked?
We have the same thing with 'Trans women being attacked in male toilets'.
None of the those that post these things have the stats to back them up.
And yet are used to promote an ideology.

One rape per hour is reported in London. So I'm not sure these two sad cases, one in another country, are representative of anything other than more male violence.

Good god. One every HOUR??

Agree with others. It's just more male violence. I'm also getting a little bit sick of reading about bestility as that seems to be the latest fad by violent sadistic men.

trainedopossum · 20/09/2024 16:01

As sad as it is to read about violence and murder, I'm struggling to identify any link, however tangential, to this board.
I can think of ideologies that resemble death cults; feminism isn't one.

PrimalLass · 20/09/2024 16:01

Yes that was just in the news today.
