KJK going off on one again. Can you see it yet?

See what?

I can't stand Donald Trump and would never vote for him, but I find the policing of other people's opinions frustrating. Regardless of how abhorrent you may find Trump, he's a legitimate candidate in the American election, and people are entitled to support him if they choose.
KJK is not doing anything wrong by having different political opinions than you or me.

Toseland · 11/09/2024 16:54

Well Kamela and Biden hosted a bloke playing with his new fun boobs on the White House lawn - are you voting for that?!

Lovelyview · 11/09/2024 17:02

I'm on Twitter following mainly gender critical people (with some flower growers for light relief) I have been fascinated by the range of political views expressed. I would describe myself as centre left and really recognise how much you have to suppress certain views if you want to stay on everyone's good side on the left. Which is what has got us into trouble with trans activism trampling on women's rights. No-one has dared question it for so long. I would never support Donald Trump. He is everything I loathe about entitled men in positions of power and I genuinely believe he is a threat to democracy. However, I can see why if knocking trans activism on the head is the only thing you care about then Trump is your only option in America. The Biden administration and Kamala Harris have been woeful on this issue. The title IX debacle is something they didn't have to do but they did it anyway. I'm glad I'm in the UK.

Lovelyview · 11/09/2024 17:07

To add, I love that Martina Navratilova is posting pro Kamala stuff every day while Billboard Chris is the Trumpiest Trump supporter ever. The fact that neither the left nor the right own this fight gives me hope tbh.

Daleksatemyshed · 11/09/2024 17:19

Regardless of anything else I don't understand how anyone can vote for Trump. A man who tries to win a debate by saying immigrants eat people's pets and the Democrats will allow abortions up to 9 months, who incited revolution and rioting at the White House and yet still people want to vote for him , madness

Cheesecakecookie · 11/09/2024 17:21

I’m not sure what your point is.

I don’t like Trump. I’m not a fan of KJK either.

I do though agree with her on some points regarding women’s rights.

I don’t agree with her about Trump.

So what ?

Livinginaclock · 11/09/2024 17:27

She's allowed her opinion.
The only person I agree with on everything is me.
KJK gives ordinary women a voice, and I think she's great for it.
Would I vote for Trump? No.
Would I vote for Kamala? No.

Agree except I often don't agree with myself (the arguments we have!)

CorruptedCauldron · 11/09/2024 17:30

It’s almost as if people with gender-critical beliefs aren’t a hive mind, isn’t it?

Trump is absolutely awful, a disaster, and should really be in prison. I can’t believe he’s been allowed to run.

Kamala may have her heart in the right place, which makes her the better option, but she has been captured by BeKind. That is bad news for women’s sex-based rights, and bad news for vulnerable gender-questioning kids.

Ha, same, and that's before I bring in my cats' views!

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 11/09/2024 17:33

If I lived in the US, where politics really do seem to be binary (ironically), I'd have to vote for Kamala and hope against hope that somebody will somehow finally get through to her that there are many problems with gender ideology, especially the unevidenced and barbaric medical treatments and especially how it's affecting children. She appears to be an intelligent woman. I have to hope that she's never really sat down and looked at the evidence, or rather the lack of it. I couldn't vote for Trump, for all the obvious reasons. Life for women, children, anyone not white, and people with disabilities would become insupportable in the US if he got power again. It would be a disaster for Ukraine and a wonderful boost for Putin.

I held my nose and voted Labour at our General Election and so far I'm cautiously optimistic that that was the right thing to do.

SonjaBarkerFinch · 11/09/2024 17:33

She is just trying to protect women by ensuring they vote for a pussy grabbing man who thinks he can buy consent sent from women.

PollyDactyl · 11/09/2024 17:33

We used to say "interesting first post" but we don't do that any more so I'll ask can we see what, OP.

Grantanow · 11/09/2024 17:40

It's appalling that a nation of 350 million can only offer Trump and Harris as a potential President but Trump is by far the worst choice.

ReadWithScepticism · 11/09/2024 17:51

I only ever come across KJK via threads commenting on how awful she is.
She does indeed sound awful, but why does that matter? Why does she matter? In my mind I group her with social media influencers -- people who are big in some social media bubbles but essentially irrelevant, despite forays into the real world from time to time.

Generally I'd agree about people being entitled to voice political opinions I disagree with. But no, in this case he isn't a legitimate candidate and people are not entitled to support him.

He's a fascist who has already incited an insurrection to overthrow the democratic process when it didn't go his way, and has made no secret of his willingness to do so again.

You can argue about whatever you like within the scope of what a democratically elected government might do, with the standing proviso that if people don't like it they can vote them out. Argue about tax rates, immigration policy, abortion, whatever. Sure, make an argument that Trump is right about these things and if enough people agree, those of us who hate him will just have to suck it up.

But once you start denying the principles of democracy itself, and promoting someone to be leader who refuses to acknowledge them, who intends to impose pure authoritarianism instead, then you're having a different argument.

You can't have a legitimate candidate in a race who doesn't acknowledge the rules of the race.

Do you suggest that people should vote for the raging misogynist that is Donald Trump instead?

dropoutin · 11/09/2024 17:57

And did KJK actually say this? Christ, I had started to realise she was a few sandwiches short of a picnic but this is too much. What a complete idiot.

KJK has been important in running the Let Women speak events and I do think her support for Trump damages that 'brand'. Presumably a lot of the women who speak at her events aren't right wing and it would be sad if her views stopped women participating. Gender Critical views are the biggest tent I have ever come across in politics. I love that the UK Communist Party has come out in favour of sex based rights as have the anarchists. There are left wing gay people and right wing gay people both stating that gender Ideology is homophobic. Lots of leftie feminists like JK Rowling and Rosie Duffield. It's a really interesting development and one that the left dismiss at their peril.

Exactly. It's the choice between a shit sandwich and a shit sandwich without the bread.

Oh, I missed conservatives like Kemi Badenoch who was excellent on this issue in parliament just before the election.

Past 9 months - they wait for the babies to be born and then execute them, according to him last night!!!!! It is insanity.
