Trans activists monitoring mumsnet

A particularly diligent trans identified male transactivist says there is a network monitoring “far right” activity on here.

which might explain why some
posters get suspended for saying things that some people find challenging to hear.

I’d like to keep hearing from TinselAngel. How do we protect her freedom of speech, expression, and you could probably argue association, from being limited by people who are known to harass women IRL?

Doh meant to add photo

With baking like that, you'd be vv welcome in the Bluestocking, which has it's own thread.

As for dogs, one of mine only has to look at a nettle and she gets a hurty paw. Such a bloody drama queen....

I rarely post on here, but read regularly.

Hope it helps you all to know that the reason I came here originally was one of your monitors ranting that I'd seen on the internet that my brain just couldn't make sense of.

Google led me to Mumsnet. And you all. And I'm very grateful to said ranting monitor.

I will be one of many.

ArabellaScott · 08/09/2024 15:30

There's a reason monitors tend to post screenshots, and not links, Turnybus.

No I've not been banned. I was suspended for telling Fred to F off, and then I had to agree to adhere to talk guidelines to be let back in,

It's all a bit triggering as I've had my speech restricted on this issue before.

Triggered because you aren't allowed to freely tell people you dislike to F off?

I do think some rules are needed to maintain order, just look at what twitter has became with virtually no moderation- a cesspit of hate and abuse.

I don't want to be able to tell anyone to F off, just men with malevolent motives.

RufustheFactualReindeer · 08/09/2024 18:31

Iamiams

i dont know what to say that won’t get me deleted 😀

i will stick with thank you

Fred? Diligent? Grin

UtopiaPlanitia · 08/09/2024 20:04

@CautiousLurker https://ovarit.com might help for those times when you feel like saying something that might be considered as 'not in the spirit' here on MN. (Perhaps someone else here can explain how the registration system works there - I'm not entirely au fait).

And there's also the GC feminist community on https://spinster.xyz as an alternative to Twitter/X.

JanesLittleGirl · 08/09/2024 21:58

My small experience of avoiding a deletion is to use ODFOD.

Just a heads up -
Unfortunately I once had a post that simply replied "ODFOD" to someone deleted. Mumsnet told me they don't allow it and will delete the post if it's reported. 🙄

SinnerBoy · 09/09/2024 04:02

I'm glad to hear that you're only flouncing temporarily, Cautious.

The cookies look fab, by the way and I don't eat sweet stuff!

Glad to hear you’re back @TinselAngel

I do get that MN needs to play by ‘higher standards’ and that X formally Twitter has lost ad ££ because of allowing toxic content.

However, it’s also possible that mods have personal beliefs that may or may not align with the beliefs of posters. Also possible that certain demographics actively seek out moderation roles given that gate keepers are the most important people…which may or may not lead to some mods being quietly thrilled in being able to control the speech of recalcitrant women.

Not saying that’s what happened here, but telling someone to F off (something I hear irl many times a day with various tones of intent) hardly seems deletion worthy. On the other hand, I know of someone nearly fired/dismissed because they lifted their eyebrows in a meeting. So some folk are a tad too sensitive for their own good and that seems to be the majority of TRAs monitoring these boards.

MontagueMoo · 09/09/2024 10:09

Forgetting the wider scale monitoring for wrongthink for a moment, it's always, always been the case that MN doesn't allow personal attacks, including telling other posters to fuck off (directly or through acronyms). It shouldn't be a shock, triggering, or cause for complaint if you break the talk guidelines in such an obvious way. It's pretty easy to avoid.

That's a great point.

It was deeply misogynist reporting in the Guardian that brought me here.

It's funny how trans activists want to silence feminists, deplatform them and burn their words. But feminists are quite happy to suggest other people hear and read the words of trans activists.

lemonpepperlady · 09/09/2024 10:43

This reply has been deleted

This has been deleted by MNHQ for breaking our Talk Guidelines - previously banned poster.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 09/09/2024 10:54

Isn't it? 'Transphobic' and 'terf' have lost their sting.

I agree. Practically everyone is "transphobic" by the definition of trans rights activists.

StickItInTheFamilyAlbum · 09/09/2024 11:54

But feminists are quite happy to suggest other people hear and read the words of trans activists.

#OperationLetThemSpeak comes to mind.

And, back in the day, FWR considered sending refreshments along to support a meeting about "transphobia in the UK" aka, removing considerations about women and sex-based rights.

TrainedByDinosaurs · 09/09/2024 12:07

I found FWR through trans activists on twitter. I arrived with more of a live and let live attitude (despite awful personal experiences that I put down to me being unlucky as I didn't understand about paraphilias grouping then)

I was told to ‘educate myself’ so I did Grin

viques · 09/09/2024 12:51

Is this a picture of an extreme Quidditch team? Tuff muvvas!

Oops. Sorry, tuff persons who may or may not identify as birth parents.

Same. I started off feeling confused about why people were so up in arms about trans ideology.

I educated myself, now I'm a TERF.

EdithStourton · 09/09/2024 15:02

Yep, educating oneself doesn't always pan out as the issuer of the order had intended.
