A particularly diligent trans identified male transactivist says there is a network monitoring “far right” activity on here.

which might explain why some
posters get suspended for saying things that some people find challenging to hear.

I’d like to keep hearing from TinselAngel. How do we protect her freedom of speech, expression, and you could probably argue association, from being limited by people who are known to harass women IRL?

'Freda', who during a discussion with a panel including Helen Joyce, had to be prompted by Peter Tatchell to put down the copious red wine he'd been quaffing because he was making such a show of himself?

I don't think the posters on here will be losing much sleep over Freda's opinion of them, to be honest.

Oh is this like when parents tell small children that they better be good because Santa's watching?
Is Fred Santa?
If so, I have a grievance about a sinister walking talking doll circa christmas 1983........

I think Fred probably identifies more as a floaty little elf.

India W once screenshotted and tweeted a comment I made on MN about cutting my long hair off (to demonstrate to my kids that a haircut doesn’t change a person’s sex and I’m still their mum, not their new additional dad). IW was apparently horrified and in utter disbelief that I would sabotage my own woman-liness in this manner, to the point I was accused of making the whole thing up.

My hair is now back to collarbone length and it’s lush and thick and entirely my natural (titian red) with very little grey (just two white temple streaks that make me look like The Bride of Frankenstein on Dress Down Friday).

No one has once mistaken me for a man in this short-lived short-haired era and my hair is better off for cutting off the highlights.

Women don’t need hair transplants/bleach/extensions whatever to be unmistakably female but I guess it’s nice to know that IW (needlessly) worried about my hairdo!

I must be a weirdo because I always engage the young Mormon men in conversation and say to them “I am in my fifties, and my advice is, go out, drink lots of beer and sleep with any consenting adult who’ll have you”. And actually I give the same advice to our self appointed Red Guards- It’s Saturday evening, go out, drink lots of beer and find a nice consenting adult to have you.

All this wasted time getting your knickers in a twist because some people won’t pretend a lie is the truth?
Get off the internet and get a life.

I also engage the young Mormon men. But that's because, though I'm not LDS myself, a chunk of my extended family are, and there's a lot of fascinating history that the young missionaries don't know because church leaders have airbrushed it.

Also, thanks to 19th century polygamy, we're probably distantly related.

The principle stands that you only learn things by engaging with people who have different ideas. That's the case here, where there's a spectrum of ideas and robust argument. It even survives most of us coming from the left. And those of us who no longer identify with the left always have reasons for it - and it doesn't make us "far right", whatever the Labour stans say.

Tmpnmc86 · 07/09/2024 20:45

I'm nearly 50. I saw young people and vulnerable older people being led down a harmful dead end in their search to find answers to emotional pain is what made me think more deeply about gender.
If seeing vulnerable people being exploited makes me far right then so be it. When Germaine Greer said "I don't care". I thought she was being a little harsh. Frankly though now, I don't care.

You post a lemon drizzle cake recipe and you will be dead to me. Dead I say!!!!!

Unless you hide it behind a sensitivity screen and put a trigger warning in the post!

With regards the OPs at least when Fred does come on here and post Fred posts under Fred's own name!

Chill, Boiled - I couldn't bake a cake to save my life, lemon drizzle or anything else. I'll say anything for a laugh and 5 'thanks'😉

Just as an experiment to see if this gets deleted as a derail:
My FWR Cake Recipe
Take one egg and beat it. 😆

Christ, that's sad. Fancy being so obsessed with an unattainable wish that you sacrifice your actual native talent to it.

Unless it's just boob implants rather than anything more radical.

I believe he’s had genital surgery from the Instagram post. I find it incredibly sad someone so young would do something so extreme.

PurpleSparkledPixie · 07/09/2024 22:09

But.. but.. but.. I DON'T IDENTIFY AS FAR RIGHT!! How dare they!

However I am a very nice person so I will tell all the monitors to open their windows and curtains and breathe in all that fresh air. Helps the brain cells function apparently.

Intrigued by the idea some of my posts may have been screenshot and shared elsewhere. Am aware that I have a rather favourable GC reputation in GPChat (prompted to check after another thread raised it): apparently I engage in nuanced and thoughtful discussion and my political leanings are not clear, which reassures me as I worry occasionally that I might actually be ‘far right’ in the current political climate (the idea of being in any way right wing, appals me, frankly).

But I do wonder whether it ends up on TRA sites where my DD might see it and work out it is me commenting.

Well that sent me on a long and unexpected online journey😂

RayonSunrise · 07/09/2024 22:22

Still? Aren't they bored and tired of looking like big standard stalkers yet?

'Floaty' is doing some heavy lifting there.

Pantaloons99 · 07/09/2024 22:45

Participating in a debate on MN regards transgenderism is what helped to shift my views significantly.

Over the course of this particular thread, I went from ' oh live and let live, no one's being hurt' to a much more vocal opposition to what some Trans proponents are pushing for.

Thankyou MN posters for that! And for giving me confidence to openly say ' no this is messed up and the implications of this are huge'

AncientAndModern1 · 07/09/2024 22:50

Can’t believe my helpful comments to any lurking TIMS have been deleted! Fucksake MN! We all know men can’t be women. Women are not a feeling in a man’s head and we can ALWAYS tell.

Hoardasurass · 07/09/2024 22:52

@Boiledbeetle I can offer a navy cake recipe if you prefer but I warn you that it's heavy on the rum

DrBlackbird · 07/09/2024 23:01

FWR goes through periods where we lose lots of excellent posters. We mourn the fallen and hope for new posters to join and keep passing the flame.

Has Tinsel been banned? The one that was the saddest was the poster who worked in safeguarding (can’t remember their MN name) and knew a lot about grooming tactics. I found her posts so illuminating.

LangCleg

She rocked and knew her stuff. I understand why the traliban had to get her banned, she was a big problem for them.

And this is why free speech and debate is an important democrat process.

Stonewall's #nodebate was incredibly damaging to womens rights and child safety. Once seen as pure misogyny you can't unsee it.
