Watching Mandy Clare’s video was so enraging - those men were so dismissive and condescending towards her. Treating her like she was David Icke rather than a woman’s rights & child safety campaigner. Disgusting!

Maybe women need to start throwing soup at Stonehenge or something to get politicians to take us seriously 😏

Enraged is right. What a pair of smug wankers. Well done Mandy for shining light for all to see the contempt these men show to women and children.

Edited - predictive text didn't like wankers lol

How on earth have the kind of angry men who turn up at feminist meetings and shout abuse/threats, while also wearing shirts & holding signs with abusive slogans, managed to convince Kier Starmer et al that they are oppressed and it’s the feminists who are the ones who are being unkind to them?

I mean are the men who’ve physically attacked women at meetings also being oppressed in some way because the nasty TERF hurt their fists with her evil witch’s face?

Does Kier not have eyes in his bloody head? Can he not see what’s happening to women who speak up in public life? Is he wearing actual, in addition to ideological, blinkers?

Women’s voices are too shrill and naggy for men like KS (and others) to hear. If we try saying it in a nice male baritone then maybe they can hear us.

This is what has really hardened my belief in the patriarchy. Men can’t even be bothered to listen and understand our arguments. I would mind if I thought they understood but had a reasonable rebuttal - I don’t know what that could be. But to not even listen… that chaps my ass more thsn
anything.

Hmmm, might take Monty Python as my guide and start carrying a fake beard around with me for use when I need men to take me seriously 🙃

I understand exactly how you feel - I’ve had a lifetime of being ignored or talked down to by a lot of men simply because I’m female, and thus in their eyes not worth listening to, and I had hoped things would be better by now not worse.

JKR was right. The evidence is right there. A misogynist mob gathered in Brighton today led by a torturer :

https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/womens_rights/5103434-just-let-women-speak?page=1

Someone needs to ask Labour politicians why women are not allowed to say the same things Blair and Starmer say without a mob gathering.

Saying That women are real is allowed if you are Tory, Labour, Reform.

If you are Catholic or Muslim.

But not if you are a bunch of women. WHY?

Just let women speak | Mumsnet

Still trying to silence women. It won't work, lads. You can try and shame us and smear us and tick us off. You can threaten us and abuse us and tr...

A BBC article on Bridget Phillipson's interview today, all very predictable

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cxxx821l57go

As well as failing to commit to maintaining the new guidance to keep genderwoo out of schools (I think it isn't kind enough), I'm quoting the last sentence

I don’t believe it’s an either/or but I would say really, do judge us on what we’ve done in the past to support women.

See, Bridie, that's the problem. That's what I'm judging you on.

Bridget Phillipson

Labour avoids committing to draft schools gender guidance

Bridget Phillipson says draft guidance has some "good" parts but "other elements" are "too partisan".

But we're not voting on past manifestos & governments, are we? We're voting on Labour's offer for the next five years & it's looking worse for women by the day.

Also, what about compensation for WASPI women? Article is from 14 June. Whether or not you agree with the issue of compensation (& please don't anyone derail into that), it will be interesting to see what happens if Labour win - though I'd have preferred them to say one way or the other in the manifesto, so we all know where we stand.

WASPI women urge Labour to ‘reconfirm support’ for State Pension compensation

The ‘End Frozen Pensions’ campaign also said Labour has ‘missed an opportunity’ to level up payments for retirees living abroad.

The tories are so shit that JKR is now the official opposition.

Exactly what I think 😄

I know lots of people say this issue is still fairly niche. And be that as it may. It's still the issue that can make him look unbelievably awful. Really easily.

Agree completely.

But we're not voting on past manifestos & governments, are we?

And if we were the GRA is prime evidence of just how little consideration Labour have for women and women's rights. The current state of play stems entirely from the GRA and EqA both pieces of legislation brought in by Labour.

It's worth watching the video this refers to:

Summed up - stop making a fuss about things we leftie men don't think matter and put your efforts into doing things we determine to be worthy.

We get a lot of that here

Yes, absolutely this. Half the problem is caused by the piss-poor and contradictory legislation that Labour brought in, of which they are 'so proud'. And they tell us they will 'update' the GRA. Which isn't going to improve things, on the contrary.

Staunch Tory land full of farmers so that would be a genuine upset for that area.

My area, Ellie Chowns is very popular, a CC, was our MEP and the Greens are very close to the sitting Tory MP in the polls.
Still can't bring myself to vote for her, sadly, due to GPEW bonkers anti woman stance.

ActivePeony · 23/06/2024 21:44

Yes the Greens hate women more than the LP do. They are completely mad on this issue.

This on Twix has just made me laugh:
JKRowling;
'Labour giving the same energy as a man who's been shagging a woman from work but thinks his wife should be cool about it because he's always put the bins out.'

From the Times article

They are required to submit proof that they have changed genders, which can include official documents such as utility bills or passports, or even library cards or supermarket loyalty cards.

they could almost literally get a GRC from Tesco!
