Thank you for posting that.

Thankyou!! To OP - and Queen Joanne and all her sail with her

Brilliant article - thanks so much for sharing.

She's one of people that contributed to the Tories winning in 2017, she abandoned Labour.

lcakethereforeIam · 21/06/2024 22:02

Thank heavens. Imagine where we'd be if Labour had been in power when all this was going down.

Also, as influential as JKR is, that election was Labour's to lose.

Think you'll find it's labour that abandoned JKR, women and children by signing up to trans extremism and smearing anyone who tried to stand up for women's rights and child safeguarding as bigots.

Now they're frantically trying to reverse ferret but without the moral courage to recognise what they got so very wrong.

SinnerBoy · 21/06/2024 22:09

Take note an digest, Sir Keir; this is the reality of the toxic debate, where the poison drips downhill from one side only:

Is this what Starmer meant, when he talked about toxic, divided debate? A female MP in his own party being intimidated and harassed? Or was he referencing the activists in black masks who turn up at women’s demonstrations with the declared intention of punching “Terfs”, an intention that has more than once translated into action? Was he perhaps thinking of the trans activists who sang “f* you” over a microphone as women from all over the world queued outside FiLia, the feminist conference, to discuss issues like female genital mutilation? It didn’t seem so.

Or not, as whatever passes for your conscience dictates.

How did the right wing bigot J K Rowling who no one cares about and who is wrong about all this stuff have such a significant impact to cost Labour the election?

Weird. I thought no one cared about her transphobic opinions. Surely your average Joe Labour supporter wouldn't be swayed by a female previous Labour donor getting her knickers in a twist about a single issue.

Or is it her money Labour struggled without? Better morals than the Conservatives perhaps on that kind of thing <cough Hester cough>.

Rather be 'right on' than the on the wrong side of history perhaps. ⁰

I would say the Labour Party abandoned her. And me. And all women. Actually

She was one of the celebs that joined in the smearing of Corybn. I've got not time for her centrism.

RepresentMe · 21/06/2024 22:14

Wow! I was horrified at Starmer’s response to that question. Any remnant of loyalty I’ve been clinging on to was finally gone. Any thought of giving them my vote just to usurp the Tories - gone. Thanks for writing another cracking piece JKR. I proudly purchased my copy of the book from my excellent local independent book shop yesterday. I have been on the journey, stood outside Holyrood and other public squares, written countless emails to MSPs/MPs and I am so proud to see this book out in the world. I’m glad you had a fantastic book launch and I thank each and every contributor for their important work.

PepeParapluie · 21/06/2024 22:16

She always puts it so brilliantly and so succinctly. Re-reading all those ridiculous labour quotes in one place is infuriating all over again, but having them all together is important for the overall context.

Thank you for sharing OP.

Biscofffan · 21/06/2024 22:17

Brilliantly written article which expresses exactly what I, as a lifelong socialist and Labour supporter, feel. Thank you JKR.

Runskiyoga · 21/06/2024 22:24

Robert Preston just commented on this Times article on ITV news, saying it hasn't been all smooth for Starmer, and that lots of people - particularly women - might agree that she has a point.

StellaOlivetti · 21/06/2024 22:25

Agree. It’s a really well written piece, and thank you for sharing. Some of the quotes JKR mentions by the Labour bigwigs are actually INSANE.

CorruptedCauldron · 21/06/2024 22:30

JKR nails it as always. She’s amazing how she can articulate everything I feel about Labour. That question on Rosie Duffield was Starmer’s chance to redeem himself and get my X but he blew it. He sees women talking about female biology as cruel and exclusionary witches, far worse than the men in masks who literally attack, intimidate, and threaten women. Count the gender-critical women who’ve behaved violently towards trans rights activists. I can’t think of a single one, yet it’s women who are painted as the awful poisonous hags stirring up the pot.

The men in masks can’t help it, of course, they’re only angry because the nasty toxic women dared to say no to them. If the women had been kind in the first place, we’d all be hunky dory. We’d have no women’s sport or single-sex spaces or language to define the female experience but that’s ok because at least we’d have been kind, giving, and compliant, and we wouldn’t have hurt anyone’s feelings.

No. You be kind, Keir. It’s your turn.

If Labour will not support women, why the fuck should women support Labour?

ResisterRex · 21/06/2024 22:30

I think it was a planted question that's backfired.

Thank you JKR Flowers

I heard that. Even though they'll deny it, it's evident that Starmer's sudden conversion to facts and reality following Blair's unexpected and invaluable contribution to world knowledge (that women have a vagina and men a penis) is because this issue is having an impact. Otherwise he's still be wibbling on about men with a cervix.
Starmer's "it's just a culture war" and his inability to face up to how weak he's been in response to the bullying of Rosie D are making him look bad and raise questions about his character and whether he means what he says.

People aren't going to stop asking questions and he'll need better answers than "oh it's all so toxic" and using a murdered child as a shield for his own incompetence.

It's worse than that. He knows fucking well what a woman is and is too afraid to say it.

I'd almost have more respect for him if he actually believed the gender woo.

in the paraphrased words of Magdalen Berns - I'd rather he was rude than a fucking liar.

and it's so awful because I'm a public sector frontline worker and morally can't vote Tory.

tillyandmilly · 21/06/2024 22:43

Anyone who thinks this is about JKR herself isn't paying attention.

JKR says it herself.

It's about not listening to a section of women because they say things that are inconvenient. Or not reflective of a rival labour faction..

Seriestwo · 21/06/2024 23:07

I’ll never forgive them. Labour don’t care about women and children.

I have more respect for the Lib Dem’s, they speak shite in return for money from a puberty blocker manufacturer. Labour do it for free.

Mycatsmudge · 21/06/2024 23:08

Well said JKR. I watched Rosie Duffield’s interview with Andrew Neil on Times Radio and I was absolutely shocked by how completely sidelined she had been by the Labour Party and Keir Starmer. I have listened to Rosie Duffield a lot and agree with her on women’s issues including being the only owners of cervixes. Apparently the Labour Party launched its election campaign in Kent where she is the only Labour MP and she wasn’t even invited to it. Actions speak louder than words and on women’s issues. has shown me what they think of us biological women.
