Just let women speak

Still trying to silence women.

It won't work, lads.

You can try and shame us and smear us and tick us off. You can threaten us and abuse us and try to intimidate us. Sirens and smoke bombs and scoldings.

It doesn't work.

We won't wheesht.

JK Rowling won't 'pipe down'.

KJK won't be quiet.

Rosie Duffield won't be quiet.

None of us are going anywhere, and the more you attack us and try to stop women from speaking, the more clearly you reveal your own misogyny.

Well done to the brave women standing calmly in the face of all that aggressive noisemaking and continuing to speak.

Why don't the silly buggers organise their own event?

They could call it 'Won't Someone Think Of The Menz' or something.

BoreOfWhabylon · 23/06/2024 16:07

I see convicted violent man Sarah Jane Baker, currently serving a life sentence but out of prison on licence (again), was there, bellowing misogyny through his megaphone.

Jesus Christ, all of that (including KJK’s security standing right next to her, they didn’t until recently) because of women speaking.

What a time to be alive.

Redshoeblueshoe · 23/06/2024 16:24

The police were disgraceful.

On a Sunday too,the choir must have been struggling without him.

Mollyollydolly · 23/06/2024 17:51

I can't believe the ball gobbler hasn't got conditions on his license to keep away from events like this. And the Police are hopeless. Makes me rage.

Some of the women have had to take refuge in a shop and are now having to be rescued by the police

Surely threatening and abusing women is going to get him put back inside?!

Someone has footage? And can send to his parole officer?

'Standard Licence Conditions

All Parole Board release decisions will contain a set of standard licence conditions, which are as follows:

An individual must:
(a) be of good behaviour and not behave in a way which undermines the purpose of the licence period;'
...
Recall of individuals on Licence

An individual on licence in the community can have their licence revoked and be recalled to custody at any time during their licence period.
Where the Probation Service considers that an individual has breached the conditions of their licence, the individual’s behaviour indicates that they present an increased or unmanageable risk of serious harm (RoSH) to the public, or there is an imminent risk of further offences being committed, the Probation Service will request that the individual be recalled.
When considering the recall of individuals subject to an indeterminate or extended determinate sentence licence, the Probation Service must demonstrate a “causal link” in the current behaviour that was exhibited at the time of the index offence.
One of the following criteria must be met when assessing whether to request the recall of these individuals:
i. Exhibits behaviour similar to behaviour surrounding the circumstances of the index offence;
ii. Exhibits behaviour likely to give rise (or does give rise) to a sexual or violent offence;
iii. Exhibits behaviour associated with the commission of a sexual or violent offence; ...'

How can woman vote Labour after watching this?

the Tories are a joke but at least they’re finally putting an end to this nonsense. Labour have explicitly stated that (a) they’re bringing in self - ID in all but name (some shit about making it easier and more dignified for men to get a GRC) and (b) they are scraping the conversion therapy ban. So essentially criminalising exploratory therapy.

Respectfully, any woman voting for them, especially with children, can kiss hers and her children’s rights goodbye.

the ball gobbler

Do you mind? Some of us are eating our tea! 😜Why the hell they can't keep him in a cell I don't know.

Was Baker saying to ounch a terf again or is that old footage. If it was then back to prison.

Despicable cowards hiding behind masks as well. Hope everyone keeps safe.

The masks aren't a good look for those who are supposed to be on the right side of history.

Respectfully, this has all happened on the Tory's watch! Labour haven't been in power since 2010. If the Tories cared so much they'd have done stuff in the kast five years rather than squirmed and ignored and then chucked some stuff in a manifesto when they know they have no chance of being reelected.

I don't blame you for being a single issue voter about this but surely you can acknowledge there are many other issues, including many which disproportionately affect women, which yet more Tory rule would be catastrophic for.

Sausagenbacon · 23/06/2024 18:40

Yes, but at least the Tories halted the amendment to the GRA, and also stopped the SNPs amendments. If Labour had been in power at the time, they would have gone through.
I am just so angry with Labour. They patently don't give a f**k. If they did, KS and his advisors would have created a better response than the one he gave on Question Time. He's a clever man, surrounded by clever people, but they know they'll be in power with a massive majority next month. Labour are just sitting this out.
So Labour can take a jump.

So the police are pursuing hate crime charges?

I am getting angrier and angrier with Starmer, why can he not see that the toxicity is one side only, how can he not see the intimidation, why does he keep avoiding that rational debate that he keeps talking about but not actually having, if they are the 'party for women' - why has Labour Women's Declaration not been invited back into the fold, how is he so confident that he will solve this, even his manifesto is in bloody conflict!

I am so fed up of politicians not giving a shit about women and the issues that matter to us. Apart from being over half of the population, we are often at the blunt end of poor policy decisions. Women are often the ones that have to juggle child care and work, manage household finances, navigate the NHS (for all of our family), navigate the education system, navigate the benefits system, care for elderly relatives (imagine the cost to the Government if we withdrew that unpaid work).

And at the end of all that caring for others, we are penalised through the gender-pay gap, our pensions are lower (because we were too busy looking after everyone else), our careers didn't reach the heights they should have (too busy looking after everyone else) and now we face the prospect of not being defined in law, because...anyone can be a legal woman.

If we weren't so worried about everyone else, we'd have burnt it all down by now.

And FFS women's rights are not a single issue, they underpin every facet of our existence in a civil society and I'm not ready to give them up. That airplane instruction about putting your own oxygen mask on first springs to mind.

It's time to demand more. We've come so far in recent years raising awareness, fighting court cases, but I think the fight of our lives is still yet to come.

JKR was right. Time to speak even LOUDER. Ask why this tolerated:

Rebel Ada@DearRebelAda
At LWS in Brighton, an old acquaintance, recently released from prison.
Sarah Jane Baker. Megaphone ready.
No probation restrictions then, Mr “If you see a Terf, smash her in the f*ing face”?

Shahrar Ali
In Brighton today, women finding themselves trapped by masked protestors chanting "fascist scum". I hope & expect all candidates to condemn these intimidation tactics.

Emily Wilding Davison
The man with a huge metal flag pole, stood with menace with his pals, as they trap women in a building who they've just harassed for 2 hours, is same man who shouted to a crowd of 1000's to punch women in the fucking face. So much for keeping women safe in Brighton

Una Marie O'Mahony POW@unao66
#BrightonPolice why have you put #LWS Stewards and attendees in danger. They are surrounded

Cathy Larkman
So, remind me again about 'toxicity' and 'both sides' as we watch masked men and a male previously convicted of kidnap/torture/attempt murder surround, scream at, and intimidate women just speaking about their rights today at Brighton.
