Excellent. Shared with my daughters

She was one of the celebs that joined in the smearing of Corybn. I've got not time for her centrism.

Maybe Corbyn should have focused more on trying to win the election and less on trying to excuse and downplay antisemitism, then.

BreadInCaptivity · 21/06/2024 23:52

JC was the architect of his own undoing.

A person who failed to understand the difference between being an activist and a party leader.

That's on him and the membership that voted him to lead the party.

The interview with Andrew Neil re: the last election absolutely laid bare his inability to understand his own proposed policies. It was absolutely cringeworthy. He was deluded, inept and utterly out of touch with the electorate.

That was an election Labour should have won. JC and Labour scored an own goal.

So shove your misogyny in blaming JKR.

Labour have lost many women (former member) like me.

Starmer is a slippery toad when it comes to this issue. The question time response was terrible.

He needed Blair to tell him what Rosie said to make it ok. 👌 Confused

Then we go back to "be nice".

Labour is not nice to women.

They won't get my vote.

UtopiaPlanitia · 22/06/2024 00:04

Excellent article by JKR - as infuriating as I found the asinine quotes from Labour politicians on the subject of whether or not women (and their cervices) exist, I enjoyed reading what she had to say and hearing about her experiences of watching Starmer say sexist things on telly.

borntobequiet · 22/06/2024 00:07

Another excellent article, spot on. So depressing.

OvaHere · 22/06/2024 00:10

This was a good trip down memory lane of all the insane things leading Labour politicians have said. In two weeks time most if not all of them will probably hold cabinet positions.

LemonRobin · 22/06/2024 00:16

So what’s the better vote for women? No way Im voting for the party that caused Brexit. I wouldve gibe with Green but they also have women’s rights issues?
At this point I might go with Count Binface.

Is there anyone worth us voting for - is absolutely a question.

We shouldnt be given a chosen like this.

GreenUp · 22/06/2024 00:22

JKR's article just got sizeable coverage on Sky News Paper review. Both the journalists discussing the papers - Susie Boniface and Jake Symons - were supportive of JKR and Rosie Duffield and said Labour has an issue with women. It was really positive coverage for women - thanks JKR!

Green don't have WR issues...we are officially non-men.

Non-men who may have a dick.

Of all the parties the Greens are the most anti women. Followed by the Lib Dem's and Labour in that order.

The tories have wised up but if you are left leaning that's not an attractive option.

The SDP are good on this but don't field candidates everywhere.

For my part I'm voting for a left leaning independent standing on the basis of local issues who knows what a woman is.

Labour are hoping to take my constituency from the tories. Due to their views on women's rights they've not just lost my vote to the independent but the rest of my household also because as surprising as it might be to Labour, some men actually get also get pretty cross when when you crap over the women they married/birthed them.

grumpyfeminist · 22/06/2024 00:28

I need to use a postal vote this year and post by it Tuesday. I have no idea how to vote in this GE. All the left of centre parties fielding candidates here have lost the plot on gender. I don’t trust Labour on iota. Their treatment of Rosie Duffield tells its own story. Deeds, not words. I don’t want to vote Tory. I can’t not vote. I am considering spoiling my ballot. I’m in one of the redrawn constituencies which was strongly Labour at last GE so my vote is unlikely to affect the outcome. I can’t believe the current state of affairs. 😕

O2AreAShowerofShite · 22/06/2024 00:41

A magnificent article. I'm so pleased the Times have published it.

There are so many gems in it, but this:

"if you continue to insist that the most vulnerable must embrace your luxury beliefs, no matter the cost to themselves, I don’t trust your judgment and I have a poor opinion of your character."

.... is spot on. Starmer's conduct here is immoral. I don't want somebody lacking judgement and morals in Number 10. We've had enough of that.

IwantToRetire · 22/06/2024 01:06

Well I wouldn't normally, let alone publicly venture a critism of JKR but the article is much too long.

All that first bit is nice and cosy, but suspect many will have stopped reading before getting to the reality of the likely next PM being a two facted anti woman (censored).

When she get into the actul facts around Rosie Duffield and herself, and points out the hypercritical garbage that Starmer is still coming out with its brilliant.

Worth sending to every Labour hopeful and ask them what they think about Starmer and why women should trust Labour to safeguard women's rights.

BrownTroutBluesAgain · 22/06/2024 01:41

Well done JKR once again.
Common sense really isn’t that difficult except for the Labour Party and it’s seems so many others.

Lifetime Labour voter here but not any more.
Many people are voting Labour, not because they believe in their policies…..no one knows what they are…but just to get the Conservatives out. That’s tactical voting. There choice but
I will not be using tactical voting because I believe in voting for the only party that knows what I am and are prepared to protect my rights and if that has to be the Conservatives then so be it.

I don’t care about history, I care about the future of women and girls in this country.

The issue of our rights is being undermined in ways none of us would have thought possible even 14 years ago and only one Party has come to their senses and stopped allowing Stonewall to stonewall women.

Thankyou JKR and common sense MPs for their common sense.

dunBle · 22/06/2024 05:39

Hatfullofwillow · 21/06/2024 21:57

She's one of people that contributed to the Tories winning in 2017, she abandoned Labour.

Fuck me, how many extra votes do you get if you're a billionaire?

Nappyvalley15 · 22/06/2024 05:47

I don't blame you. Voting for independent candidates won't actually help us. Labour need opposition in parliament.

EasternStandard · 22/06/2024 06:04

JanesLittleGirl · 21/06/2024 22:30

If Labour will not support women, why the fuck should women support Labour?

Yep

AsTreesWalking · 22/06/2024 06:37

Came here to see what was actually going on, as I heard on BBC news that JKR had 'complained about Transgender rights.'
Wouldn't it be nice if they could actually read and get it right?

RedToothBrush · 22/06/2024 00:17

It's moved from holding my nose and voting for the best of the worst to now being unwilling to give any party a vote because none of them deserve it. Gone are the days of having excitement and optimism of what a political party might have to offer.

Sugarnspicenallthingsnaice · 22/06/2024 06:45

'Luxury beliefs'. Love it!

Wistfullythinking · 22/06/2024 06:52

This is Huge! I have the paper here. The article is the whole of page 4, but the front page leads with it.
Starmer still has time to read this and work out what exactly is going on. Remaining hopeful here!

EasternStandard · 22/06/2024 06:53

The DM have picked it up. Good to get a wider cross section of readers outside The Times

QueenofTheBorg · 22/06/2024 06:54

Whenever I think I can’t love her any more she writes something that makes me love her more.

I’ve written to my labour candidate on this but no reply.

I’m going to hold my nose and vote conservative unless Keir changes his stance

knittin · 22/06/2024 06:56

Thank you. Shared the article with my daughter. Going out today to buy the Women Who Wouldn’t Wheesht.
Oh and Kier - if some men don’t identify with the gender they’re born into - we demand that these men are excluded from single sex spaces.

JustSpeculation · 22/06/2024 06:59

Written punchily and to the point, as ever.

I live in a Labour stronghold, where the candidate is a shoo-in. He's one of the better ones - sensible, intelligent, with a good track record and clearly understands the issue (Labour Women's Declaration have said nice things about him). However, I think he will put Party first, because toeing the line is what Starmer's Labour is all about.

Anyway, I will vote Labour if, and only if, I hear more than one member of the Shadow Cabinet explicitly say that they will not let the December 2022 Haldane judgement remain, and that a GRC will not be allowed to trump the exclusions stated in the EA2010. That for the puposes of these exclusions, sex will remain biological sex.
