Trans women are women. Trans men are men. :)

Can you explain what that means?

Only it doesn't seem to make any sense.

Can women be trans women? If not, why is that?

HidingBehindTheWallpaper · 03/06/2024 16:06

Show me on the post box topper where the crochet hurt you.

Get a grip. If it was a pride one then no one would say a word, and rightly so. So how is this different?

GargoyleOfBeelzebub · 03/06/2024 12:59

You can't be untoward towards postbox toppers.

Just had to like your post because of your handle 🤣

Trans women are women. Trans men are men. :)

Thought terminating cliches are thought terminating cliches.

Definitions that include the word being defined are logically meaningless.

EasternStandard · 03/06/2024 16:13

Well done to that woman

Priceless

PorcelinaV · 03/06/2024 12:59

Yeah personally I don't think that's the appropriate place for political messaging; and while a common sense statement about biological sex shouldn't be "political" that is what it's become.

I understand the desire to fight back with the messaging when you see institutions captured and pushing biased propaganda.

Why do you say that?

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 03/06/2024 13:04

Has it been called a microaggression yet?

Edited

Nothing as insignificant as that, it's a PTSD inducing hate crime.

Needmoresleep · 03/06/2024 16:19

Perhaps our brave crochet lady will be arrested for hate speech, and we could all crowd fund to pay for Ben and his support wren, and we could read all about it on Tribunal Tweets, and then claim another victory. It would be known as Toppergate.

SirChenjins · 03/06/2024 16:26

And in other news, the Earth is round.

Well done that knitter for stating the bleeding obvious - she/he should have covered the whole box.

I saw a lovely sticker on a lamp post recently which said 'don't be silly, women don't have a willy'. Wonder if you can buy them anywhere?

menopausalmare · 03/06/2024 16:33

To be fair, I find crochet quite triggering 😬

absolutely love it!!!

Of course you do, duck. Of course you do...

Theeyeballsinthesky · 03/06/2024 17:22

Oh gosh well we can’t have men being made upset by having biological reality on postboxes now can we

Woolly and a bit wet.

Treaclewell · 03/06/2024 17:30

What we need to do is work out Mme Defarge's knitting code and use it to put our messages up. I've been trying to work out how she did it for years though!

Waitwhat23 · 03/06/2024 17:30

PraiseTheSunshine · 03/06/2024 15:56

It's been removed and replaced with this one now...

The creator of the orignal topper has said on Twitter that hers has been removed and destroyed and that put in its place. The poor quality of the replacement (wrong gauge used and colours not quite right) has been commented on by quite a few people.

It's quite telling that it isn't a rainbow coloured replacement, isn't it? Just the blue and pink.

I agree.

HidingBehindTheWallpaper · 03/06/2024 17:35

I would replace it with something in suffragette colours. They can’t take that off without looking like a dick.

If I lived there and had any crafting skills I'd be tempted to sneak out at the witching hour and sew a crocheted knob in the centre of it.

Childish I know. 😂

Mochudubh · 03/06/2024 13:59

Not the point of the thread but it reminded me that whenever yarn-bombing, postbox toppers etc come up I wonder what happens to them.

Do the "bombers" come and retrieve them or are they just left to get manky until eventually the council pick them up and put them in landfill? I suppose many/most are synthetic yarn so not very environmentally friendly.

Sorry, don't want to derail but if I don't ask now I'll forget again.

On the other hand it's also reminded me I have reels of purple, green and white ribbons. 😀

I can only speak for the group I belong to. We reuse a lot of the animals/characters/toppers. We have been doing it for a few years now so will reuse and add for the next year. Because some do get 'borrowed' 😀

HelenaTranscart · 03/06/2024 17:49

I'm sick to the back teeth of seeing the trans-appropriated rainbow flag so well done to the Terf knitter. Labour HATE women so it's no surprise they object in case the topper offends a small group of deluded men. Knit on!

TWETMIRF · 03/06/2024 17:59

idkbroidk · 03/06/2024 15:58

Trans women are women. Trans men are men. :)

What do transwomen have in common with women that they don't with men?

Being a woman isn't about things you like so no sexist stereotypes please and the vast majority of women don't identify as one because they just are by virtue of being female.

Dumbo12 · 03/06/2024 18:33

I'm trying to work out how the second topper, with minimal work being put in, is viewed as more suitable than the first one. Also if misgendering is so wrong, how can miscrafting be permitted?
