Man Friday was one of the first things that led me into my current GC stance. I wish they make it a lot clearer that there are three ponds, and currently men have access to all three, not being content with men-only and mixed sex. Which means some women have access to none.

HeartofSaturdayNight · 22/02/2024 16:18

I was coming here to.say the same @Tallisker

Tallisker · 22/02/2024 16:47

Oh yes the council binned loads of responses to the consultation. Edward Lord and Meg John Barker? (I'm supposed to be working and can't Google)

ArabellaScott · 22/02/2024 16:48

Yep.

PriOn1 · 22/02/2024 16:58

Some Muslim and Orthodox Jewish women have said they feel they can no longer use the ladies’ pond since the ruling in 2019.

I suspect it is going to take a court case to resolve this. I have no doubt it would be perfectly legal to exclude males, however while those in charge are transactivists, there’s little chance of a change of policy.

I hope some of the women who are now excluded will consider legal action. They would find plenty of financial support on this board, I believe.

As others have said, this was one of the cases that made it crystal clear to me that this was about invading exclusive women’s spaces, given that mixed sex bathing is available.

Apollo441 · 22/02/2024 17:02

It isn't illegal and they are just spinning that lie to stop criticism of the policy. Keep complaining. Even if this vote is lost then push for another one as soon as possible. Never stop pushing back. They cannot force this societial change on unconsenting women, many of which can no longer use the pond.

SamphiretheTervosaurReturneth · 22/02/2024 17:07

Are we to understand they took advice from Robin?

And is the men's pond now also open to women, given it would be equally illegal to have a male space that was explicitly only for those men lucky enough to have been born biologically male?

IcakethereforeIam · 22/02/2024 17:10

I would presume the men's pond should be open to tm and any woman who self identifies as a man. Does anyone know if this is the case?

I think the Man Friday laddies tested that theory and were escorted from the area by the police.

Some very stupid men in the DT comments making their usual ill-considered and ignorant points about 'wimmin wanted equality ha ha'.

Indeed.

AdrianPimento · 22/02/2024 19:21

Do any of you actually swim there?

if not, please just butt out! This is a total non issue. I have swum at the pond for more than 20 years, often daily, and it is a welcoming kind gentle place. I don’t spend my time peering at genitals - nobody there does - and I have NEVER experienced any problems or trouble.

Just leave us alone, we are a happy place.

Nice of you to speak for the Orthodox and Muslim women who would like to swim there but can't. How many did you check with?

Jewish and Muslim women have said they don't/can't go there. Nice and inclusive of them, isn't it, @AdrianPimento - especially given that men have 3 places to swim, and women only have 2 (since they're not allowed in the men's)

Do you "inclusive" lot ever listen to the utter piffle you spout?

JackieQueen · 22/02/2024 19:28

Do you think if they called it a female rather than womans pond would that make a difference? In a legal sense I mean.

Theeyeballsinthesky · 22/02/2024 19:45

Men have access to 3 ponds, women who want a single sex pond fir women have access to none

and you think that’s inclusive @AdrianPimento

also why the fuck don’t TRA ever follow their own advice. The set up was perfect before with the much vaunted “third space” ie mixed sex pond but trans activists couldn’t bear for women to have something of their own so they decided not to leave women in peace. Why is it only ever women who have yi beeeeee kind and not TRA?

Does anyone actually, really, really think there are male women as well as female women?

Well, that’s that then, wims. A man has spoken to tell us why we’re wrong (again! IKR…) so we can consider the matter closed.

Hmm
AlisonDonut · 22/02/2024 20:24

Why do TRAs always accuse women of 'peering at genitals'?

It's like a script.

To distract from the fact it's usually obvious to know what sex someone is

They like to operate under the illusion that no one can tell who is a trans person. Especially somewhere where people are wearing fewer clothes

StephanieSuperpowers · 22/02/2024 20:31

Yes, they fondly imagine that they are physically indistinguishable from women except for the genitals. They also recognise that looking at genitals is highly unusual behaviour in women (but not in men), so they're trying to suggest if you twig the sex you must be a very strange woman indeed. Most unladylike.

Occasionally yes I have previously swum there.

It's an issue when women (cunty ones) cannot swim there.
I've been swimming there longer than you, do I get a bigger say now.
It was a welcoming place until recently when men could access the women only pond. Not welcoming now.
I dont know how you make it through life never knowing the sex of anyone. For info it's not needed to peer at genitals. We can all tell who's a cunty woman and whos a penisy woman by
Hand size
Gait
Height
Adam's apple
Ratios
Head
Hair/hairline
Voice
Smell
And other subtle clues like 5oclock shadow.

There have been the odd incident previously, minor troubles.

Not planning to ever come back until men are banned from the womens pool.

Hows that gonna go for trans women when eventually they are the only ones there?

I used to regularly and would like to be able to go back. 🙄

AdrianPimento · 22/02/2024 20:47

Shouting at me won’t persuade me any of you are right.

Men don’t swim at the women’s pond. They aren’t allowed.

Male-bodied people who identify as women can swim there (though as I say I have never ever seen one). Female-bodied people who identify as men can swim at the men’s pond. All can swim at the mixed pond.

its never been a sufficiently private place for some Muslim women to swim - there are places where spectators can hang over the fence and observe.
