I ‘get’ the point you are trying to make and I have every sympathy with the cause but as the parent of a blind teenager, I’d like to respectfully make the point that your comment is disablist, specifically your derogatory reference to ‘wearing sunglasses indoors’. There may be blind people who choose or need to wear sunglasses but there are many, many who do not, depending on their sight loss condition/s. Also, my teen does not use a ‘white stick’ - she does however carry a long cane. I hope you don’t mind me pointing this out: I always think it’s good to be as well informed and educated on all issues affecting oppressed and minority populations.

I'm visually impaired and I don't think that poster was being disablist at all. And I agree with the point they were making.

Just shows that we all have our own opinions as those living with or affected by visual impairment. I did also point out that I do agree with the cause.

I've posted this on one of the other threads, but i'll post it again, nasty little individual!

He seems nice doesn't he?

ChishiyaBat · 13/11/2023 15:11

Oh a total peach @WickedSerious !

I didn't read the post as suggesting that visually impaired people themselves meet these stereotypes, but that the putative sighted person was expressing their supposed "blindness" by adopting ablist stereotypes of blindness just as trans women express their supposed "womanhood" by adopting sexist stereotypes of womanhood.

Steph has made much effort to portray (not sure now I remember the rules) *self as a compassionate voice, seeking negotiations while jauntily lobbing about 'TERF', coming out with numerous concerning tweets re safeguarding and hanging out with Freda Wallace, Claire Prosho and Bernie 'Julie Miller' McClean.

No, Steph - sexual assault is never 'minor'

“ Steph” appears to the threatening to sue women on Twitter who are pointing out that “ Steph “ is a biological male , as “ Steph” has a GRC …

RhannionKPSS · 13/11/2023 16:21

“ Steph “ was spotted at the Labour Party conference this year …in the women’s toilets at one point…but that’s all fine as “ Steph “ has a GRC…🙄🙄🙄

ChishiyaBat · 13/11/2023 16:24

How did we get to the point where stating biological fact is an arrestable and suable offence? And where men with a piece of paper can invade our space and privacy?

WomenShouldStillWinWomensSports · 13/11/2023 16:25

IDK if it's been posted yet (have scrolled back and can't see it anywhere) but this was reported in the DM today: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-12742595/Outrage-charity-womens-condition-appoints-trans-woman-CEO.html
Where they very clearly point out that a transwoman doesn't have a uterus.
I have binned the link picture preview because it was that person's face, enlarged. 🤢

NovemberName · 13/11/2023 17:02

Got to admit. Didn't initially see anything wrong with a man being CEO of this charity. Same as being a sighted person at a charity for Blind people.

BUT having read all about him on this thread and his background, he's def not the right person.

Absolutely not!

Of course it was deliberate - like whatstheir face who runs Edinburgh Rape Crisis Centre.

What sector would be most objectionable to the terfs, is (conveniently!) the best for the trumpet polishing validation.

The DM has many many faults however it’s on the ball with holding up the ridiculousness and danger of the whole GI BS to its readers.

As far as media outlets go, it’s the one that shines a light to its readership of what’s actually happening

It's like making someone whose main qualification is that they're openly into the furry community into the CEO of a dog charity.

😂😂😂😂

catscatscurrantscurrants · 13/11/2023 18:06

My blood pressure is through the roof today. I've had enough of this f-ing nonsense.

Absolutely. I suffered from endometriosis which affects my fertility and was almost certainly the reason I had several miscarriages.

I was diagnosed and treated by a leading specialist in women’s reproductive health who was a man who’s whole career was dedicated to helping women conceive and become mothers.

Now if him or someone like him became CEO of such a charity, I’d applaud the appointment and say that he was exactly the sort of man who is the right choice for this role.

But a very vocal woman hating TW with zero medical experience or qualifications- absolute box ticking tokenism.

The issue isn't identity.

The issue is using a charity for women's health needs to trojan horse your own agenda and ideology with which is directly against the interests of those very women you are supposed to be centring.

If you are erasing the word woman and using dehumanising language like uterus haver in order to 'further the cause' then your primary agenda isn't tackling Endometriosis. Precisely because you are centring yourself NOT women suffering from Endometriosis. Its a massive conflict of interest.

A man could do the same job and it wouldn't be controversial for this reason - provided they were centring women and not using the charity for their own separate interest.

Thats why its not comparible with a non-blind person working for a blind charity. It would be a problem if the non-blind person was also campaigning for companies to have to comply with less 'reasonable adjustment' obligations under law and then saying that blind people who don't agree with this are just greedy benefits cheats who aren't working hard enough to overcome their disability.

This person is using and abusing the health issue of women who face huge obstacles and institutionalised prejudices to further their own position for personal gain. Thats revolting. Its actively exploitative.

Its the forceteaming and its the use of women as a tool thats an issue. Not the fact this person is trans.

Once you see it, you can't unsee it either.

catduckgoose · 13/11/2023 19:34

So it's just a very small hobbyist charity run by people who are already extreme gender ideologists? Makes sense now why they'd CEO him.

Comparable appointments would be:

BDSM enthusiast becomes CEO of pet collar business

Trans age person becomes CEO of a children's safeguarding charity (I actually think this might happen at some point - let's hope it's not Stefonknee or whatever that dodgy man identifying as a 6 year old is calling himself).

It's literally that inappropriate and for similar reasons.

I really hate to compliment the DM, but well done to them for including some actual information about endometriosis in their story, especially the little fact box thing at the side. So perhaps this misogynistic eejit has managed to do something useful for women by accident!

*I think we’ll probably find this is text book targeting and take over a small organisation by TRA’s and redirect it to validate TW

we should look at recent trustee appointments*

rip4nutmeg on TwitterX has done some digging. Looks as though this organisation was set up with a very specific focus right from the start.

A charity set up to specifically support endometriosis suffers who don't identify as women seems like a fine and laudable thing.

I may not agree with the beliefs they hold about womanhood in order to believe themselves outside it, but given that they do hold these beliefs, it should not exclude them from accessing support that is meaningful to them. And in that context, a trans woman who shares their beliefs may indeed be an effective CEO.

However, if that is what this charity's actual focus is they should be clear that their aim is to support this specific small group rather than present as a general endometriosis charity. They should make statements like "not everyone who suffers endometriosis identifies as a woman" rather than take it upon themselves to make general statements about endometriosis that exclude women altogether.
