'Could a non-trans person be CEO of a trans organisation?'

'Yes - the head of Stonewall isn't trans'

'Stonewall is not a trans organisation'

What a tell that Steph forgot that.

Ooh, poor wee Stephy will be getting telt off for that one!

sniggers

ArthurbellaScott · 15/11/2023 10:37

'why not say women' - Emma

Lolapusht · 15/11/2023 10:37

Emma is being AMAZING!

ArthurbellaScott · 15/11/2023 10:37

'we use the word everyone' - Steph

WinterTrees · 15/11/2023 10:37

Emma is incandescent with silent fury and it is POWERING her. This is a barnstorming interview.

ArthurbellaScott · 15/11/2023 10:37

'you're happy to use the word woman, but not when you're discussing endo?' - Emma, paraphrasing

29 cases in men! OMG he's gone there!

SamW98 · 15/11/2023 10:38

Steph is getting rattled and Emma is doing a brilliant job

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 15/11/2023 10:38

Ooh, "As ever you are pushing the issue," says Steph to Emma. Steph is getting angry!

Bringing men into the conversation!

26 men suffer from endo, ladies. Please think of the men.

CriticalCondition · 15/11/2023 10:39

Steph- there are 29 cases of endometriosis in men, let's not forget them.

Emma - stunned silence

WinterTrees · 15/11/2023 10:40

Taking a second to marvel at how far we've come since the days of Jane Garvey when this wouldn't have been covered at all, but if it was it would have been couched about with 'some would say... accusations of transphobia...'

Emma Barnett is a powerful force.

Jodie is on the verge of tears.

GlomOfNit · 15/11/2023 10:40

Jodie sounds a bit thick TBH.

Steph is coming across as weak, uncertain and unscientific.

I can hear thousands who idly tuned in shouting at the radio at the moment! Grin

And EB is being strong and pressing her points. I would LOVE for you, Emma, to read out even a tiny fraction of the emails and tweets we KNOW you have received on this matter.

NeighbourhoodWatchPotholeDivision · 15/11/2023 10:40

Did Jodie really say that all the opposition was coming from women in other countries?

Lolapusht · 15/11/2023 10:41

Emma - ”You have to have a womb, Steph”

OMG…this is brilliant.

Emma - “We’ve got to re-brand something that men can have in order to be taken seriously in a male dominated area?”

wherethewildtbingsgo · 15/11/2023 10:41

My god those two were as thick as two short planks.

I can't believe anyone would offer Steph a CEO role in anything tbh.

CriticalCondition · 15/11/2023 10:41

Jodie - you don't have to have to have a womb to have endometriosis.

Emma - You do. That's a fact. Are these 'alternative facts'?

Waitwhat23 · 15/11/2023 10:41

CriticalCondition · 15/11/2023 10:39

Steph- there are 29 cases of endometriosis in men, let's not forget them.

Emma - stunned silence

As opposed to the 176 million women who have endometriosis world wide -

And I still bet those 26 men are taken more seriously than any of the women.

GlomOfNit · 15/11/2023 10:41

YOU HAVE TO BE BORN WITH A WOMB JODIE

Grin

Unfortunately, this will be framed by the Be Kind brigade as Emma heartlessly bullying poor Jodie who is writing a PhD and is a SINGLE MUM. Emma, who has had horrible struggles with endo and knows damned well what's involved and what you have to be in order to suffer it.

Jellycats4life · 15/11/2023 10:42

Jodie sounded like she was close to tears of rage over the idea that endo is primarily a gynaecological disease.

WinterTrees · 15/11/2023 10:42

Wow - what an ending.

Emma let the last word go to Steph. 'The trustees of Endo South Coast appointed me, and they can fire me.'

Emma. Pause for effect.

'Thanks for your time. Now, moving on...'

SamW98 · 15/11/2023 10:42

Jodie - we have to step away from the gynaecology

WTF??

A fine example of let them speak being the finest way forward - they always show exactly who they are

Flickersy · 15/11/2023 10:43

CriticalCondition · 15/11/2023 10:41

Jodie - you don't have to have to have a womb to have endometriosis.

Emma - You do. That's a fact. Are these 'alternative facts'?

Jodie is technically correct here to be fair. Men can suffer from endometriosis even if it is in very small numbers. I thought Emma wasn't being careful enough on that point but otherwise she was fantastic.

WarriorN · 15/11/2023 10:43

Well done Emma!

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 15/11/2023 10:43

Jodie is totally out of her depth. I am thinking this is a charity run as a vanity project for her. Sorry she has endo, but that doesn't make her a good spokesperson or representative of the majority of fellow sufferers. She is far too focussed on being an ally and inclusive to give out clear, factual information. It's going to be all about rainbow celebrations and star studded charity events for this one. Too many "inclusive" charities do more harm than good (as we know from all the trans charities) - they are dangerous, because the uninitiated and vulnerable will trust them for guidance, and it will not be good guidance.

LizzieSiddal · 15/11/2023 10:43

God Emma was on fire.

Thank you Emma!!
