Cat seems to have a surprisingly broad CV (or maybe mine is just very narrow). Someone who has been shunted sideways a lot, has an extremely low tolerance for staying put, or has exaggerated the roles?

I have an entirely unscientific and unevidenced theory (not that that appears to be a blocker to an academic career) that Canada's madness is something to do with being a nation of immigrants. A large chunk of the population have arrived there escaping persecution, poverty etc. Mix that up with the national shame at how the First Nations people have been treated, and you've got a country that desperately wants to be seen to lead the world and support what they believe is a vulnerable minority.

Still, I hope everyone is genuflecting at the appropriate altar for this week’s Genderfluid Visibility Week
