Such a shame the tribunal isn't sitting on Thursday, International Pronoun Day. That could have been fun. Justin would be having conniptions in the chat.

IcakethereforeIam · 17/10/2023 20:33

I don't want to see anyone's genderfluid 😳

Theeyeballsinthesky · 17/10/2023 20:36

Just posting this I put on another thread as I think people might be interested…..

You know we were saying about that map showing how all these things are interlinked

https://www.stonewall.org.uk/people/catherine-dixon

the new chair of Stonewall

“Cat is currently a member of the Advisory Board of the Open University”

Catherine Dixon

Catherine (Cat) (she/her) is Stonewall's Chair of Trustees.

https://www.stonewall.org.uk/people/catherine-dixon

Sisterpita · 17/10/2023 20:39

@Theeyeballsinthesky it is really scary how interlinked everyone is.

Sisterpita · 17/10/2023 20:41

@Theeyeballsinthesky OMG it goes on to state “Cat is currently a member of the Advisory Board of the Open University. Cat is a solicitor and accredited mediator and has a MBA.”

As a solicitor, is there a chance Cat gave the legal advice to keep the open letter up on the website?

Theeyeballsinthesky · 17/10/2023 20:41

Well @Sisterpita one does wonder!!!

Cat seems to have a surprisingly broad CV (or maybe mine is just very narrow). Someone who has been shunted sideways a lot, has an extremely low tolerance for staying put, or has exaggerated the roles?

Madcats · 17/10/2023 20:43

Can anybody explain to me why OU would wish to drag themselves through this £££££ ET?

I am genuinely puzzled

Sisterpita · 17/10/2023 20:43

That would explain why it was Stonewall’s version of the law rather than you know the law as written.

No idea but my goodness what an exciting entry that would make on an application for such a senior SW post.

Think of the SW personal WEI allyship points would have accrued from that.

There are not enough eye roll emoji's in the world for this @RethinkingLife

What is happening to Canada, not just this stuff but the euthanasia and the big drug problems.

Funnily enough, Deb Drake is Canadian. You can see her in action here

studenthublive.open.ac.uk/abstract/criminology

I have an entirely unscientific and unevidenced theory (not that that appears to be a blocker to an academic career) that Canada's madness is something to do with being a nation of immigrants. A large chunk of the population have arrived there escaping persecution, poverty etc. Mix that up with the national shame at how the First Nations people have been treated, and you've got a country that desperately wants to be seen to lead the world and support what they believe is a vulnerable minority.

Zeugma · 17/10/2023 20:51

Still, I hope everyone is genuflecting at the appropriate altar for this week’s Genderfluid Visibility Week

Is that the week where now you see they/them, now you don’t?

Redshoeblueshoe · 17/10/2023 20:53

😂

mauvish · 17/10/2023 20:53

April 6. International Asexuality Day.

WTAF does this even mean?

Is it a day when we should all be asexual? No shagging please, it's IAD!

BenCoopersSupportWren · 17/10/2023 21:01

I’m looking forward to April 14th. We can but hope…

No idea but I’m sure I’ll hear about it from my FB acquaintance who has previously bleated about rights for asexual people. Quite what rights asexual people don’t have has never been made clear.

chilling19 · 17/10/2023 21:34

BC: Let's test that answer.

Words to strike terror into the stoutest heart.

Or the unnamed lawyer who gave the grievance training to today's last witness?

Mother's Day.
IWD.

Is that pretty much it? Compared to the weeks and months for other groups in the UK? Reading out the names for Counting Dead Women that always attracts, what about Counting Dead Men?

@Theeyeballsinthesky it is really scary how interlinked everyone is.

It's practically incestuous

Sisterpita · 17/10/2023 22:29

@BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn of course.

WrensAreAllDinosaurs · 17/10/2023 22:29

BenCoopersSupportWren · 17/10/2023 19:29

Yeah, good luck with that…

I’m completely outclassed by every commenter on this thread. So forgive me if this analogy is ridiculous. But it puts me in mind of the romans spreading Christianity.

Keep the special dates, the pattern, but change the meaning and the focus. Turn pagan festivals to Christian worship.

Coupled with comply or die.

And yet the behaviour is exactly how the First Nations people were treated. It is pure colonialism.

'Right you lot, your betters have arrived, we're much more enlightened than you old and backward twits, so stop using your language, your words are crap and you have to use ours. Pray to our gods, at our altars, no other beliefs permitted, they're sinful and evil and make you bad people who don't deserve rights or equality with us who know best. Your culture and traditions and spaces and groups will all have to go, we'll take them all over, get rid of the bits we don't like or that conflict with our superior knowledge, and we'll run them so you learn how to do things right and better. Obviously we will lead and set all policies, and we'll tell you what your needs are, we know better than you anyway. We'll educate your children not to listen to or trust you and any of your old nonsense and only to believe what we believe, and in a generation we'll have you all wiped out and assimilated. And if you don't come quietly, we have police, brutality, discrimination, prisons and exclusion, you'll lose your job and your bank account. But we'll tell you endlessly how kind and wonderful and loving we are while we do this to you, and if you weren't so backward and beneath us, you'd understand.'

What. Is. The. Difference?

Seriously?

God is Love shouted the last lot. #Bekind shout this lot. As they batter their way over other people's lives.
