Rishi Sunak - "a man is a man, a woman is a woman"

..and how we shouldn't be bullied into believing somebody can be any sex that they want.

https://vm.tiktok.com/ZGJcxUehh/

AIBU to want to give him a round of applause?

I know, it's convenient timing and obviously a strategy move but how good is it to hear that straight from the horses mouth when the country has spent the past god knows how long bowing down to the loud and often disturbed minority.

I still can't stand the Tories and won't be voting for them but cheers for acknowledging the insanity, Rishi.

I’m not anti women though: I’m a feminist 🤷🏼‍♀️.
i just refuse to accept that trans people are a thread to women as a group. I think transphobia is routed in misogyny and a threat to women.

evidence, evidence, evidence. I don't care what you think. I care what the evidence says and if you actually cared about women, so would you.

Absolute joke that you have read my posts and think my tone is the issue. I stand by my posts and I stand by those on other threads (which you keep bringing up). Yes I’m not perfect and I get angry sometimes; I get angry at the prejudice towards a very marginalised group of people , because i find it cruel and unjust , and I get angry about the personal insults and belittling I receive for speaking my part.
but for the most part I’ve done my best to be constructive, focus on this issues, and avoid personal or ad hominem attacks. Meanwhile I have been one voice in the face of many who have repeatedly insulted me, twisted my words, and attempted to bully me into silence.
so , yeh, I’m a-ok with my tone. Perhaps you could return to discussing more interesting things - like the subject of this thread- and focus less on me?

Yep. Stating by your second post in a thread how transphobic people are is never a sign that you wish to actually engage.

And have you got any evidence at all yet that the group you are discussing is more marginalised than the women you are determined to ignore are negatively impacted?

Can you produce evidence today that a male person changes to being non-male to back up your constant declarations that human sex is not binary and transitioned males are not male?

Do you understand the fundamental issues that basing laws and policies on your personal opinion that is not based on material reality creates for women and children?

So therefore, can you start today with actually evidencing your statements please? Let’s have that discussion rather than your accusations of hate and transphobia and misrepresenting feminists positions.

absolutely Tandora. they will see your misogyny, attempts at emotional manipulation and complete refusal to engage in actual conversation. they will see that you think that vulnerable women not wanting males in their space is alleged transphobia and they will see that you can't refute the evidence which shows that men who demand to be called women offend at at least the rate of all other men. they will see you.

Sure thing, your opinions about me have been repeatedly stated and well noted. 👍🏻

I could of course share my opinion about you and your posts. I don’t really see the point and it hardly advances the actual conversation here.

You've dodged every inconvenient question you don't want to answer.

How do men magically turn into women because they say so?

Just as you make accusations based on your personal definition of transphobia, which you then expect women to accept, you should be just as willing to accept that feminists think you are anti-women.

Do you see how that works?

You really do seem stuck in a hypocritical circle.

Wow, I read the first page of this thread then skipped to the last and omg! This escalated fast….

to respond to the og post - I don’t believe Sunak has any interest in womens issues beyond causing the exact reaction I’ve seen in this thread.
If he cared about women he’d prioritise childcare and subsidised nursery places, shared paternity leave/pay, he’d address the misogyny in met police force, in the medical profession, he’d listen to lawyers, barristers and judges who advocate for specialist juries for sex offences and he’d fund actual research into endometriosis/fibroids/etc that actually debilitate lots of women

he only cares about women when it benefits him and his party. That guy can do one, he’s awful and I don’t trust him as far as I could throw him

Thats my view as well.

There are soooo many easy things the tories could do to help women and girls (and children in general) but what he has done is cut the funding for SENDS, i was out yesterday and saw the child i know who will be affected by this, its so wrong, they need this additional help, its also so short sighted.

Sunak could make good the funding from his own pocket and not notice it at all.

Its also good Labour winning yesterday in Scotland.

It’s not my personal definition. I explained it clearly up thread using definitions of words.
if you can find a trans person who doesn’t find this entire thread disgustingly transphobic and beleive your platitudes about “supporting trans rights” I’ll eat my hat.

lifeturnsonadime · 06/10/2023 08:11

Has Feminism taken on an alternative meaning?

No feminist I know would refuse to answer simple questions on women's safety from males.

I’m not going to accept it, because it’s not true. But, yes, you are welcome to think that if you want to and I accept there’s not much I can do about that except clarify that I am not anti woman, I am a woman and a feminist 🤷🏼‍♀️

The actual conversation here is that Sunak made a statement that you don’t agree with but you are unable/unwilling to support your argument with facts.

Yes we get that. Women having boundaries and refusing to believe everything a man says about himself is disgustingly transphobic.

This is why posters are calling you anti women.

Well you self identify as a feminist but don't care to protect biological women and no amount of patronising shrug emoji is going to square that circle.

People can read my posts and see that I have meaningfully engaged on a range of substantive issues throughout the thread .

If they think you have ‘meaningfully engaged’, I suggest they look up both words in the dictionary. You have not meaningfully engaged at all.

To do so would be to produce factually based discussion and evidence to support it. And then discuss how that works in reality and discuss the impacts and solutions.

Again, many people support the rights of trans people. You commented how that made you sick with and immature emoji for emphasis. Do you believe that is a mature approach to discussion?

You call people ‘nasty’ when if it was a personal attack and genuinely ‘nasty’ it would be deleted.

No. meaningful engagement means answering challenging questions and finding evidence that will support your thoughts and claims.

I have seen no sign of that on this or other threads when you post.

ArabellaScott · 06/10/2023 08:17

Mrspenguinsschoolforfreaks · 05/10/2023 23:56

Saying “cis women’s bodies have very significant biological differences from trans women’s bodies” is not the same as saying “trans women aren’t women”

It is though. Once you get past the sloganeering and pat phrasing.

Males and females are different. That's all women here are saying, really. Different bodies, different needs.

That's why women need specific rights and protections.

OvaHere · 06/10/2023 08:18

40 pages and we still haven't had an answer to how men turn into women.
