Employment Tribunal starts next Monday, not sure if it is available for remote viewing.

I have sent a request so we will see.

@Puddlelane123 we've all been booted out now so hopefully you'll get in when they let us all back in.

LarkLane · 06/10/2023 11:24

JM KC's other so-called specialism is Sport. She does a lot of advising and representing in that field. Say no more!

She was also key in the Manchester investigation into the s.a / Barry Bennell saga.

She's got nothing substantial here to work on for the OU except to try for character asassination and to break down a woman she knows has PTSD.

That's pretty low really. I suppose you need certain character traits to do that.

ickky · 06/10/2023 11:24

Why do they keep booting us for the 15 minute break, either put us back in the lobby or just mute. Honestly, it must be easier than booting and readmitting everyone.

Surely most LGBTQ+ networks aren't important for research either, unless perhaps the research is sociology or sexology? The purpose is for academics/staff who have something in common to have a space to discuss this. If it's relevant to research outside the research field, it's as networking - which will be true for any network and any broader socialising outside of one's immediate work group - so intrinsically beneficial to research?

GCITC · 06/10/2023 11:25

I've rung. Apparently I have to email as they can't do anything over the phone 😑

MyLadyDisdainlsYetLiving · 06/10/2023 11:25

@Signalbox it all comes back to objections to the basic concept of researching the impact of gender and sex in society. There's no name that would be acceptable, because what the TRA really object(ed) to is the mere existence of the research network and what it is trying to do.

MyLadyDisdainlsYetLiving · 06/10/2023 11:29

Before the break I counted FOUR clerks online. Perhaps they all think one of the others is doing the online meeting management?

The Judge said to ring or email about tech issues.

The OU case seems to be you are a hateful aggressive transphobe, do you agree?

The same question over and over again, framed slightly differently.

Someone is typing right next to a microphone I think? Irritating.

Mmmnotsure · 06/10/2023 11:39

Is anyone still waiting to join?

katmarie · 06/10/2023 11:39

2 waiting in the lobby apparently

Mmmnotsure · 06/10/2023 11:40

Thanks.

Looks like the chap sitting next to OU counsel, he’s typing and it could be picked up by her mike.

And this is what noise suppression technology is for, it's even in Zoom settings. There will be a setting, somewhere, that eliminates paper turning, the sound of typing and chairs scraping and so much more.

Rural courts in the US have a better handle on technology than this. The ET has plenty experience to build upon and should be able to get this sorted.

JM proposing the JP not upset by the open letter, she just doesn't like people disagreeing with her view. Accused of being aggressive again.

So she's simultaneously not upset enough but too aggressive? Is there a permitted list of emotions and a guide as to how much emotion is acceptable in a given situation? Jesus wept.

The OU don't seem to have much of a case beyond "Some people didn't like your views and we took their side". The barrister's approach just seems to be trying to provoke Jo into saying something where they can point the finger at her and say to the Court, "See! She's a MASSIVE TRANSPHOBE so our client was right to punish her!!" But since they haven't been able to do that, they've just made her cry instead.

I know defence barristers and it's an important part of a fair trial, justice being done etc. but this just seems deliberately unpleasant.

Puddlelane123 · 06/10/2023 11:52

Good grief, is Basil Fawlty in charge of tech. It beggars belief

MyLadyDisdainlsYetLiving · 06/10/2023 11:53

🤐

@SidewaysOtter

I know, how many times have we seen after a suicide "they seemed fine, never said anything was wrong" Also as a leader of the group, it would be inappropriate to put that on them. People do not routinely broadcast their devastation and distress to all and sundry.

Well. Some people, the most oppressed of all time type people do.

ickky · 06/10/2023 12:01

JP ploughing on even though she is upset and crying. Probably just wants to get thought it as fast as possible.
