A past episode with RM on 6 music was "in their own words."

There aren't actually many artists available to hear again for that programme at all. Amy winehouse and Marvin Gaye mostly.

So it seems to be the upcoming episode on the 26th that's been changed or pulled. Which was the "playlist" as here for a previous episode with blur.

Eg

BBC cancels Roisin Murphy

Looks like myself and Steerpike are in agreement.. If Roisin isn't cancelled by the BBC, can they tell us when she'll be on tv & radio ?

And can they explain why nary a peep of this story has been on the BBC News/Culture website ?

That latter question might be trickier for them to answer.. I mean, all the newspapers have been following developments..?

Awful behaviour from the BBC. Just bought her album in support

Me too - from the store that hosted her live performance last week. I was sure it would be cancelled actually so kudos to them. I wonder if they were under pressure to cancel?

Tangential to this, but just reading on the BBC Culture page (I was looking for something on Roisin, but for some accountable reason, there was no mention of her) about some random complaint to Ofcom about sub-titles on Casualty:

An episode of TV drama Casualty has breached broadcasting rules after swear words appeared in subtitles before the watershed, Ofcom has ruled.
The watchdog received a complaint about offensive language in the subtitles of a repeated episode of the hospital drama shown by the Drama channel.
A word that viewers consider among the most offensive was shown twice at 10.30am on 12 June.
UKTV, which owns the licence for Drama, apologised over the incident.
The company explained that subtitling of the show is outsourced to Red Bee Media and the subtitler, who had not followed protocols, had been "disciplined and withdrawn from subtitling duties until they have been through a thorough retraining process with their line manager".
It added that it was the "first issue of this nature UKTV has experienced".
It also said that both UKTV and Red Bee had taken action and put extra processes and training in place to stop it from happening again.
Ofcom said that while it took this information into account, there were no mitigating factors such as an on-air apology.

(my bolding)

I dunno, but it seems to me that's just something about the tone there...

Musomama1 · 13/09/2023 12:53

I'm livid about this.

Have they banned Alice Cooper? Have they taken The Office off iPlayer, or any Graham Linehan related shows eg Motherland and The Fast Show?

Always, always a witch hunt.

The BBC are meant to represent the public, who have made Hit Parade a hit.

I've a feeling Radio 6 is populated by wokebros and I will be turning off.

LondonLass91 · 13/09/2023 13:00

Apparently it's all over twitter that there was a staff meeting in Monday where the decision was made to pull her. BBC staying silent, the fucking arseholes.

WarriorN · 13/09/2023 13:05

Fuck!

RealityFan · 13/09/2023 13:08

Amazing, really. As a female artist, criticise the abusive Catholic Church in the 90s, and the roof caves in on your world.
As a female artist, criticise the abusive medicalisation of totally healthy teens in the 2020s, and the roof caves in on your world.
What goes around, comes around.

No way can the BBC hold this line. Expect the corporate apology soon and "as purveyors of the truth in a fake news world, we are blameless here, but should realise how our actions could look" blah blah.

Róisín must look at all this and wonder just how little her so-called colleagues and peers in her chosen profession and vocation think of her. If she wasn't aware of this poison, she is now.

Let's flip woke back on itself.
"I saw prejudice and discrimination and aWOKE from it. I'm WOKEn up to the iniquities of the world".

Maybe she's woke now, she'll have aWOKEn to just how the industry was prepared to not just run her over, but reverse back over her body.

WarriorN · 13/09/2023 13:10

You've got BBC newsnight querying PBs, Hannah Barnes writing a book that's long listed for huge prizes, the nhs stopping all prescriptions unless within a study and now the bbc main news demonstrating that children don't always know what's going on and they pull this stunt on a woman who's agreeing with the all of them and the NHS?!

By staff meeting, you mean overpromoted bullies? Let me guess, anyone taking Róisín's side, ie the side of artistic freedom and rationality, was either shouted down, or GCs would have felt unable to speak freely.

The BBC are over powered and captured

TragicMuse · 13/09/2023 13:25

I have bought Roisin's album this morning and it's bundled with some promo socks. Looking forward to them.

I'm not listening to 6music at the moment. It's appalling behaviour.

I am peaking and peaking and just where will it fucking end? Will we ever get our spaces back?

I'm sick of being told that MY OWN SAFETY AND EXPERIENCES ARE SECONDARY TO A FUCKING MAN AND HIS FUCKING LADYFEELS AND WOMANFACE.

PISS OFF DYLAN. PISS OFF ALL OF THEM.

Farmageddon · 13/09/2023 13:42

So when are we going to march in the street about this shit?

If everyone who comments on these newspaper articles about how terrible this is came out to join us then it would be a sizeable crowd.

All of this.

They'll play tracks by male paedophiles and abusers but a woman saying vulnerable children shouldn't be experimented on is beyond the pale?

FUCK YOU BBC.

ArabeIIaScott · 13/09/2023 14:38

They will promote males, no matter what the male does. Rapes his own daughters? No probs, mate.

But women must stay in line. They are to know their place. Be decorative, entertaining, and/or useful.

Any woman who deviates must be made an example of. Make her repent. Tear her apart. Unperson her.

ArabeIIaScott · 13/09/2023 14:39

Well, this is fucking depressing, isn't it? Hey ho, time for the school run and another loud play of Hit Parade with the bass turned down from Defcon 7.

TheGoddessFrigg · 13/09/2023 15:09

It's so bloody obvious as well. 6music have always played and promoted Roisin Murphy A LOT- as they should because she is a hugely talented and stylish performer.
And now she has a new - very successful album out- there is complete silence. In fact she is not mentioned at all, by any of the presenters. It's practically Stalinist in its effectiveness. Not even disagreeing with her- she has just become a complete non person.
But it's very effective isn't it? Will certainly give anybody else thinking of stepping out of line pause for thought

Biffology · 13/09/2023 15:16

They need listeners, though.. And credibility..
