Have name changed for this.

I'm a 6 music listener and have been for a number of years. I love it. It's a great station. But I'm seriously pissed off about this.

I'm on several of the 6 music Facebook groups too and someone has posted about this today. There's all the usual tropes about countless children with early onset puberty using PBs, so what's the difference, trans people most marginalised, stopping suicides etc etc. Any contrasting narrative re de-transitioners or the longer lasting impacts of PBs etc is handily, mostly ignored or passed off as hysteria. Lots of beards also talking about TERFs and where they've 'suddenly' appeared from...

What they don't get is that every time any debate around this issue comes up on the page, and it does from time to time, I don't comment because I know there will be a pile on, we'll be told to go educate ourselves etc etc. And I'd imagine, although clearly can't say with any certainty, that there will be others like me.

One positive thing I have noticed though, is that RM has been doing lots of appearances and gigs in the last week or so, and from the comments on the posts about them, seems to still be v popular and well received, by people of all ages. Not just the right wing, ultra conservative, supremely religious zealots that all GC people supposedly are... 🙄🙄😵‍💫

Oh dear god could you weep. A fantastic, creative woman forced to kneel in front of an ideology that harms children.

When will they see it? They will, eventually. Like they saw Savile eventually. The damage will be done, they can't just row back from this disgusting witch hunt.

Yes like Roman Catholicism in the High Middle Ages. You casually wonder whether all the thousands of 'pieces of the True Cross' on sale are really the genuine article. Then the next thing you know you're chained up in a dungeon having your toe nails pulled out while a priest shouts the Nicene Creed at you

Edited

I shouldn't lol but oh you are funny 😁

Andrew Neil is good!

He promised to spend the summer reading. It looks as if we may be seeing the results.

I really, really hope the Mail are mistaken.

Because, if they're correct, then it means this has gone much further than I imagined (and I hang out on here a lot so I'm not new to it).

For the first time I think, I'm feeling more scared than angry right now.

It is always darkest just before the dawn.

Time to stop paying the licence fee

I stopped a long time ago.

They didn't see Saville at all.

They all knew. It all came out after his death.

I’d say that’s an informed and rational feeling

RebelliousCow · 13/09/2023 09:32

I've laways loved the William Holman Hunt painting - The Scapegoat.

I've mentioned before the concept of 'stanning' in gay male culture - whereby a woman ( singer/actress) is idolised only to be villified at a later date when she disappoints in any way.

It is always darkest just before the dawn.

Stepping up the threats, rage, cancellation and intimidation is all they can do to try and contain the narrative. Because they can't win in a calm, rational discussion.

Unfortunately for them, no debate is over: bag open, cats everywhere.

This is true but they also have the law on their side

We need to change it

But calm rational discussion is just the tool of the white supremacist. All that matters is " my truth".

It's not just the Mail that is covering this story - it's on the front page of the Telegraph app also.

Biffology · 13/09/2023 09:48

@totallypissedoff45yearold

They think the music scene is their trainset. I'm reminded that infamous cult leader Charles Manson wrote a song called 'Cease To Exist..'

CorruptedCauldron · 13/09/2023 09:50

If those shows really have been pulled owing to Roisin’s leaked views on puberty blockers (which were privately-held but perfectly reasonable), then the BBC needs to rename itself as the Big Brother Corporation. These are dystopian times and the capture of our public services - including the state broadcaster - has gone beyond the pale.

Let women PEAK.

I'm going to cancel my licence fee too and tell them why. Spineless captured cunts.

WarriorN · 13/09/2023 10:10

The only caution I'd say with this is that the donations to charity thing that was reported in a Canadian paper ended up not being true or certainly not in the end happening...

We need bbc to verify exactly why her previous shows aren't playing (is that usual? I can't play some others) and why little simz is now on instead of her on the 26th.

Biffology · 13/09/2023 10:11

That programme was on from midnight to 5AM - let's see if the success of this album is reflected in the BBC's output, with programmes at a more normal time of the day.

If their programming amounts to 'fingers-in-ears', that will be difficult to attribute to 'just scheduling decisions'. The ball is in their court. And we're not going away.

JustHereWithMyPopcorn · 13/09/2023 10:12

Wtaf BBC? The sooner we all cut this authoritarian broadcaster out of our lives the better.

WarriorN · 13/09/2023 10:12

This was the outcome of the trans charity claim
