Awful behaviour from the BBC. Just bought her album in support

WarriorN · 13/09/2023 07:20

So - I did some tests of other greats on the same shows such as Debbie Harry and Blur. You can't actually listen to previous episodes of theirs either so it could be to do with music licensing on listen again regarding those recordings, and potentially also on WH.

Need to find another singer who's been on wh recently

Thanks, that's helpful.

I think the BBC need to make a clear statement on this.

Summerslimtime · 13/09/2023 05:32

@TragicMuse

And I finally deleted the guardian app
Out of interest, where do you get your news now?

Well there's the conundrum! I'm still puzzling it out. As a socialist it's difficult since so many other papers are so very tory. And I just can't give my money to the likes of Murdoch et al.

I mourn the BBC of my youth, which ‘spoke truth to power’. How weak and dishonest it has become. Like the Guardian. Where are the campaigning liberal news media that I used to trust and admire?

I have more respect now for the conservative media I used to despise.

Not trying to have a go at you but has the BBC ever really spoken truth to power? It didn't speak much truth when it knowingly harboured a vicious sex offender in its ranks for decades.

I think the BBC has always been the organ of the Establishment. That is its purpose. But I do accept that its standards of reporting, researching and questioning used to be far higher than they are now.

Helleofabore · 13/09/2023 08:13

”So cancelling must get harsher.”

It is currently at levels I would never have predicted.

The over reaction is particularly brutal considering that Bragg has got away with his ridiculousness about how a woman bravely smiling while being harassed and abused is not a ‘harassed’ woman. And don’t they still platform Tatchell?

The current era is going to be seen as just as hypocritical as the last eras.

Can anyone signpost to an email to complain to BBC?

They make it very difficult to find the correct people to complain to. They only hear what they want to hear and any dissent is lost in the abyss.
The employees all feed in the same pond...have group think, and are never wrong. We, the sensible public, are the outliers.
The BBC is self righteous in its fervour.
And this is from an ex employee who despairs at what the once cherished organisation has become!

Time to stop paying the licence fee

But the BBC has us in a chokehold - we have to pay it if we watch any tv via Sky, Virgin etc. It's absolutely despicable, bastards.

WhereAreWeNow · 13/09/2023 07:45

I'm so angry about this. I can't believe that all my favourite presenters on 6 are happy with this.

This ! Lauren Laverne still follows RM on Twitter ( hope that continues , as maybe seen as 'all thoughts her own ' type thing)

Does anyone know of an email address to complain to?

Needmoresleep · 13/09/2023 08:20

The Mail article seems to rely on the word of a couple of anonymous members of staff and the fact that the programming had been altered.

Which does not mean that it is wrong. It sounds credible to me. If I worked there I would be furious and would be phoning the Mail.

It is worth noting that the article appeared later evening and was pretty much top of the Mail's news feed, which I assume was because if was gathering plenty of clicks. Comments then stopped. And now the same article has gone from the main News feed and is only appearing in their specialist film and TV section. I wonder if, when the main shift arrived, they decided to exercise some caution. Perhaps they are waiting for a response from the BBC. Who in turn may be banging some heads together in R6.

If it is really true, and again I think it probably is, it is really shocking. Pure misogyny and bullying.

AlisonDonut · 13/09/2023 08:22

People mention Big Pharma and are told they are 'conspiracy theorists' and yet...

AlisonDonut · 13/09/2023 08:25

I stopped listening to 6 music when every song was bracketed by some waffle about LGBTQIA hands knees boompsadaisy nuttery. I had listened to 6 music since it started, after the demise of GLR and the shift of the DJs from one to the other. I was even on Phil Jupitus' breakfast show back in the day.

I hope this brings the 6 presenters to their collective senses.

Floisme · 13/09/2023 08:25

I really, really hope the Mail are mistaken.

Because, if they're correct, then it means this has gone much further than I imagined (and I hang out on here a lot so I'm not new to it).

For the first time I think, I'm feeling more scared than angry right now.

Watch out for any laws criminalising misgendering within remit of hate speech

We’re all up for it on here if so

We won’t get to post as we do

OldCrone · 13/09/2023 08:30

Complain to the BBC here.

One more nail in the coffin of a once great broadcaster.
One more addition to the reasons why The Beeb should become a subscription service. Let people choose what shit they wish to pay for

EasternStandard · 13/09/2023 08:34

I’m ready for it to be subscription

The captured power they wield is too high

ImGoingThroughChanges · 13/09/2023 08:37

Kind of glad it’s Roisin Murphy because I started listening on Spotify just to give her hits and the music is really good.

I hope she gets a ton of new fans out of this.

I hear a Coo coo…

Complaint made, thanks for the link.

Let’s see if any of the craven fuckers at the BBC have the guts to play her stuff anyway.

(Spoiler - they won’t).

The word that comes to mind is vindictive. A woman worries about the effects of medication on children and the response is ‘we’re going to show you who’s boss here’?!

Theer is no middle way with trans ideology. You have to be a true believer. Questioning one thing inevitably leads to questioning others - and cannot be permitted.

Yes like Roman Catholicism in the High Middle Ages. You casually wonder whether all the thousands of 'pieces of the True Cross' on sale are really the genuine article. Then the next thing you know you're chained up in a dungeon having your toe nails pulled out while a priest shouts the Nicene Creed at you
