So the ‘formal re-education’ begins

I don’t know if anyone has been following this with Jordan Peterson but he has been ordered to undergo a self funded Re-education program in Canada, having lost a recent court case.

I have a feeling he isn’t well liked on here but I actually really like him. I’ve listened to many hours of his lectures and I don’t believe he is a misogynist - I think that’s the accusation that makes him a MN hate figure.

I like him too OP. I think he’s been treated horribly. One of the first high profile pundits that I can recall having to endure the “cancellation” process. Was surprising and new at the time so I accepted that he must be a real AH and to my shame didn’t look into why he was being dragged so hard. Canada is a lost country though, absolutely crazy what’s happening there and I am baffled by Canadians response to it. My Canadian friends are very quiet and refrain from pushing anything that could be perceived as critical on SM. Makes me wonder if they’re frightened?

I have been following it, he is so very very angry.
As he pointed out just a few days ago, he is probably the best person in Canada who could deal with this. He has some means, he has a bulldog attitude and he has a presence like not many other people do (in Canada and across the world)

He talked about watching the collapse of the first democratic country in the interview I watched. Man it’s so depressing.

I think less of him as being in Pretty Woman and more about him being Obi Wan Kenobi. By striking him down he will only get more powerful.

I mean so far, he is one of the most famous Canadians on the planet.

seriously though- it’s frightening the lengths to which some organisations go to stamp out any dissent. Unfortunately they are going to off worse - bring it on.

I'm really usually not one for making this sort of post, as I realise how limited and often slightly distasteful the media outlets which are willing to publish this kind of thing can sometimes be.

But Focus on the Family are a viciously homophobic, transphobic, anti-abortion, anti-science, anti-evolution, misogynistic, fundamentalist evangelical church, whose malign influence has been actively making the world a sadder, nastier place for decades.

This scolding for using the wrong news reporting to highlight a story, when 'approved' sources won't touch them, in case they get sent to reeducation camps for wrong think is the whole fucking crux of the issue.

Of course someone will woke scold anyone posting any links to the story. They will all be wrong thinkers in some way or other.

It was a heads-up, not an accusation. They're not well-known in the UK, and even though I know the name, I didn't notice it in the URL and clicked through to the site, which also doesn't exactly shout about who's behind it. Sneaky fuckers.

Interesting to read that about Focus on The Family and fair enough. But my own opinion of JP has come from listening to what he says usually on Spotify podcasts. He is an exceptional speaker, listener, and an interesting psychological explorer. He draws stuff back to scripture because that's his bag, but he is willing to disucss properly with those who hold an opposing view. He is an important voice at the moment. I would recommend people listen to him first hand rather than via a media outlet, that will inevitably attract criticism. The fact that he is forced to lose his license or be re-educated is chilling.

FotF isn't any kind of news reporting organisation tho Alison, left, right, or upside-bloody-down. They're an obscenely powerful and influential American fundamentalist Protestant church which campaigns against abortion rights, funds "crisis pregnancy centres", lobbies politicians at the highest levels, and preaches that being gay is due to satanic influence, pretending to be a news site.
