So the ‘formal re-education’ begins

I don’t know if anyone has been following this with Jordan Peterson but he has been ordered to undergo a self funded Re-education program in Canada, having lost a recent court case.

I have a feeling he isn’t well liked on here but I actually really like him. I’ve listened to many hours of his lectures and I don’t believe he is a misogynist - I think that’s the accusation that makes him a MN hate figure.

I like him too OP. I think he’s been treated horribly. One of the first high profile pundits that I can recall having to endure the “cancellation” process. Was surprising and new at the time so I accepted that he must be a real AH and to my shame didn’t look into why he was being dragged so hard. Canada is a lost country though, absolutely crazy what’s happening there and I am baffled by Canadians response to it. My Canadian friends are very quiet and refrain from pushing anything that could be perceived as critical on SM. Makes me wonder if they’re frightened?

I've got relatives in BC who regular post anti-woke memes on Facebook. Definitely unfair to group all Canadians together. I think doing that in Canada is braver than in doing it in the UK given how far gone it is, and yet they still do it.

I was told over and over by certain sections of msm that JP, or is it Peter Jordanson? My short term memory is shot due to lack of sleep, but I know his face 😄
Anyway, I was told he was a total douchebag and raving misogynist. And then I decided I had to listen and watch him to hear what all the fuss was about. Aaaand I found him reasonable, intelligent and articulate. I like this guy.

I think this might be a very good thing. Jordan Peterson exposing the content of the court ordered “re-education program” to all his followers might help some ordinary Canadians finally wake the fuck up. Fingers crossed for powerful sunlight.🤞

Good thing I didn’t then. I qualified by drawing back what I said, to MY friends, not all Canadians.

See it’s this constant need to tell everyone off (scold?) for not clarifying every thought they have in a way that the individual listener/reader/viewer approves of. It’s all so tiresome and draining. No wonder people just withdraw entirely from any discussion.

FotF isn't any kind of news reporting organisation tho Alison, left, right, or upside-bloody-down. They're an obscenely powerful and influential American fundamentalist Protestant church which campaigns against abortion rights, funds "crisis pregnancy centres", lobbies politicians at the highest levels, and preaches that being gay is due to satanic influence, pretending to be a news site. It's not a right-wing news site, or a Christian news site, or any other kind of news site from a different perspective, which I have every confidence in all MNers being capable of reading and critically appraising in that context. It's a church. But I suspected that most people wouldn't be familiar with the fact that they're actually a church, and a particularly nasty and powerful one, because that's not clear on their site.

So?

No matter how nasty, or against your personal aims and objectives, are they not entitled to publish their thoughts on the matter without a 'warning' popping up just in case feminists catch something from reading their words?

I’m a fan too - I really enjoy his interviews and they often make me think about things in a totally different way. I listened to him talking to Douglas Murray recently and I found it so entertaining

He did a podcast ( I think, not sure what qualifies as podcast v video) with Russel brand. Jesus, it was brilliant, but I had to rewind often and keep a dictionary nearby.

I don't like Jordan Peterson much but I absolutely disagree with him or anyone else being subjected to re-education.
We all need to start standing up for free speech. We find our way forward by making arguments and counter arguments. Shutting down different points of view - even if they are bad ones - is incredibly dangerous and detrimental to democracy. I am horrified by this, but glad there is more sunlight on what is happening.
