So the ‘formal re-education’ begins

I don’t know if anyone has been following this with Jordan Peterson but he has been ordered to undergo a self funded Re-education program in Canada, having lost a recent court case.

I have a feeling he isn’t well liked on here but I actually really like him. I’ve listened to many hours of his lectures and I don’t believe he is a misogynist - I think that’s the accusation that makes him a MN hate figure.

I'll actually really appreciate watching the process, I've no experience of HR or diversity people interfering in my head, no training, no rules beyond my own rules - it's my company, I can do what I damn well like within the law. The only place my words are censored is here on mumsnet.

Or better still post up the sections of the article which contains the propaganda and explain how the section/ article is being used to push their agenda.

TRA are all about twisting the meanings of words and ideas. If you beleive that the people objecting to their aims are doing the same to achive a different outcome explain and educate the reader. Teach them to think about what they read and to not accept it or any article as gospel.

THAT is the point of free speech. It can't just be for your approved publications.

Free speech is free speech. You have to allow people whose views distress and repulse you to speak too, not just those in your comfortable bubble.

Challenge their views. Argue. Discuss. Ignore. Mute. Block.

All viable options for the individual.

Can you imagine going into work and being told he was your next "project".

No "normal" person is going to want that job because you would know that it is going to become front and center in the whole debate and no matter what you do it will be wrong. And then you get a complaint and you get sent for re-education.

I think he'd likely re-educate his re-educator.

The irony of people complaining about linking to a publication, because they hold different, but legal and common views, which differ from your own, on athread about a man being persecuted for his free speech.

You do know many people view your views in the same way you view Focus on the Family: bigot, prejuduced,harmful, soemthing ist or phobic, dangerous, shouldn't be shared.

And why do you assume everyone on the thread would agree they are views we all think are dangerous/unacceptable/something ist or phobic?

Who are you to censor what we read or link to because you don't agree with it?

I'd like to offer my session plan for JP's reeducation.

Aims: To reeducate JP.

Activites.
Get JP to switch off his mic/audio/video equipment.
Tell him this is all a load of hogwash and can we discuss off record at a later dates how to get this hogwash out.
Get him to sign a form to say he had his re-education to end this nonsense.

Session ends. Duration: 5 minutes.
