So the ‘formal re-education’ begins

I don’t know if anyone has been following this with Jordan Peterson but he has been ordered to undergo a self funded Re-education program in Canada, having lost a recent court case.

I have a feeling he isn’t well liked on here but I actually really like him. I’ve listened to many hours of his lectures and I don’t believe he is a misogynist - I think that’s the accusation that makes him a MN hate figure.

I should point out that this isn't re-education, its a pretty standard offer to provide mentoring, from a professional body, as a way of dealing with a breach of professional standards without going to a disciplinary. If Peterson doesn't want to do it he doesn't have to agree.

I have no clue if it's fair or politically motivated because I have no clue what he's being told off for saying.

The article is very one sided and there simply isn't enough info to reach a conclusion- let alone some of the more hyperbolic posts.

He routinely speaks on politics and has never breached professional standards before. Does anyone know what he said?

Yes we do know what he said.

If you go onto his you tube channel he will tell you.

It all stems from (redacted) when he said (redacted) and then people who were not clients pretended they were and put complaints in.

One criticism of his Chief of staff
One criticism of an Ottawa civil servant
General criticism of the current political climate/wokery etc.

Off to the Gulag he goes to be re-educated by their social media specialist.

This is one of those things that anyone who hasn't been paying attention will go "but there's got to be something else. He must have done something really wrong as well as all that, because otherwise the world had gone bloody nuts!"

Whilst we all sit there going "why yes! Yes it has!"

My Granny came from Canada and was very proud of Canada's contribution to world culture. I'm not so sure that she would be proud of her nationality today.

I also am quite fond of JP though don't agree with all his views, but he expresses things very clearly and his use of bible stories (about which I know nothing) to explain his point is very interesting.

He talked about watching the collapse of the first democratic country in the interview I watched. Man it’s so depressing.

This is where we see one end of Canada as the ‘liberal and progressive country’ circle meeting the other end of Canada as the ‘authoritarian country’ circle.

It is utterly depressing and yet the inevitable conclusion of compelled speech/thought in the service of #bekind (to everyone except the wrong thinkers).

On the whole I like him, I don't agree with all he says, but he does talk a lot of sense. I think any re-education programme would be water off a ducks back with him, he doesn't strike me as a man who would be easily swayed. He should attend and report back in detail.
