Continuation of Thread 5.

There is so much excellent information and so many active discussions on FWR that I wondered if it would be useful to have a thread to sort of "cross-fertilise" between them - airing little thoughts or vignettes that wouldn't themselves merit their own thread, to highlight other posts/threads of particular interest or to point to notable developments on fast-moving threads so that casual observers know where to look.

(For example, "the X thread has meandered onto a fascinating discussion of Y" or "Poster P's amazing analysis on thread Z might have relevance to the scenario in thread W" or "Has anybody noticed this recurring theme that keeps coming up??" or even "Random bloke asked me to smile while I was choosing onions in the supermarket, grr"- that sort of thing).

According to an article in the Independent this guy has a GRC because of this reciprocal 'list'. I think he got one from a state with self id. I thought that this list was going to be updated?

He has a surgically created cavity but, in a novel twist, has kept his penis. Wrong sex hormones and works in tech., obviously 🙄

His crowdfunder is over £70k short of a stretch target. How does that work? Is he personally on the hook for the shortfall or will the case be abandoned?

It's an interesting case, a man claiming to be neither/both genders is arguably no more stupid than a man claiming to be a woman. If he wins though it'll ratchet the door open a little to a shitload of nonsensical genders.

A couple of screenshots and the statement from the legal firm taking the case:

NGL, I’m hoping it costs xe a fucking personal fortune and breaks the entire GRA so the government have no choice but to scrap it.

My DW was a competitive swimmer in her teens, in later life a huge fan of high-level swimming and diving, and so is absolutely raging about the damage to women's sports. Let's just say she's not a fan of that Thomas person being the female category instead of just being an excellent but not elite male swimmer

MouseMinge · 01/11/2023 13:01

Having a surgical cavity and keeping his penis seems like peak kink. Grand, you do you but a thousand bollocks to your whole GRC nonsense.

Ah, just seen the thread.

Disappointed but not surprised.

Well at least nobody can accuse Freda of being excessively self-critical.

SqueakyDinosaur · 01/11/2023 22:09

The Dunning-Kruger is strong in this one....

SinnerBoy · 01/11/2023 23:10

Blimey, what a shock to see that Málaga are now access all areas in Scotland. What an absolute travesty that verdict is.

I assume that they will appeal? Gardening gloves at the ready, here.

Also, does anyone know if it's actually true tha Kemi Badenoch hacked an opponent's email? If not, it's slanderous.

MavisMcMinty · 02/11/2023 00:33

Dear sweet zombie Jesus, Wallace is deeeeeeeluded.

MouseMinge · 02/11/2023 02:14

I had to keep scrolling through that because it reads as though a teenager has just been told they might have a future in journalism and then proves they haven't by writing that.

Fred is akin to an agp Julie Burchill with no editing skills. What a pile of total wank.

MouseMinge · 02/11/2023 02:18

P.s. I used to subscribe to Medium and had something over 100 followers through comments alone, although my guess is that many of those follows were an attempt to get followed back. I was very low hanging fruit, which Fred must be as well with so few likes. I gave up my subscription when it became clear it was well and truly captured.

MmePoppySeedDefage · 02/11/2023 07:09

Let's have a palate cleanse after that deluded w*nk, a Twitter thread about the way some women present their ideas at work in an apologetic and self-deprecating way.

No woman I work with is like this - some men do talk more than us, true, but we all present ourselves and our ideas in a normal way. But it sounds like it happens in all sorts of areas:

angelico53 · 02/11/2023 09:42

Has anyone else read Glinner's Tough Crowd? If so, what did you think?

BezMills · 02/11/2023 09:42

I've got it from my LBS to support the fella (and the LBS) but haven't got time to read it.

Britinme · 02/11/2023 09:50

I’ve read it. Quite funny in places as you might expect. More about his writing career than I was interested in. I admire the extent to which he is willing to stand up for his principles.

duc748 · 02/11/2023 10:42

I'm slowly working through my signed copy! 😀Really enjoying it, but I'm still on the 'early, funny' stuff.

BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn · 02/11/2023 11:32

Doesn't know the difference between anti trans and pro women.

Doesn't know the difference between British and Irish.

Doesn't know the difference between who and whom.

How do these people get jobs as writers?

BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn · 02/11/2023 11:35

(Or as subeditors - the latter probably made the middle mistake, and should have fixed the 3rd one.)

MavisMcMinty · 02/11/2023 11:37

No comments enabled, the gaslighting cowards.

MouseMinge · 02/11/2023 11:59

The Graun are captured arseholes. One day they'll realise how wrong they are but it'll be a while and they'll just change their editorial and pretend it never happened.

duc748 · 02/11/2023 12:05

Really learned nothing from the PIE fiasco all those years ago.

angelico53 · 02/11/2023 17:32

Quietly furious about that graun piece of shite.
