Continuation of Thread 5.

There is so much excellent information and so many active discussions on FWR that I wondered if it would be useful to have a thread to sort of "cross-fertilise" between them - airing little thoughts or vignettes that wouldn't themselves merit their own thread, to highlight other posts/threads of particular interest or to point to notable developments on fast-moving threads so that casual observers know where to look.

(For example, "the X thread has meandered onto a fascinating discussion of Y" or "Poster P's amazing analysis on thread Z might have relevance to the scenario in thread W" or "Has anybody noticed this recurring theme that keeps coming up??" or even "Random bloke asked me to smile while I was choosing onions in the supermarket, grr"- that sort of thing).

PC Watson has today been sacked by Leicestershire Police for several offences including gross misconduct, all done in the name of trans activism. He becomes the latest cross-dressing man who worked with the police who abused women.

WeAreFairCop
BREAKING: @leicspolice dismiss PC Watson without notice. We now intend to go after the Sergeant who advised him to use sock accounts. And the Chief Constable who enabled the lunatic.

Vegemiteandhoneyontoast · 27/10/2023 18:13

There was a bit more from FairCop

PC Watson found guilty by @leicspolice of:

Gross misconduct.
Lying.
Using a false identity and maintaining the falsehood when challenged.
A high degree of personal culpability.
Targeted abuse.
Disobeying orders.

His mitigating statement states that he was acting on behalf of the persecuted LGBTQI community.

Sanction will be announced when the hearing reconvenes later today.

JHFC.

Thanks for posting that @Vegemiteandhoneyontoast .

And thanks to @MouseMinge for the heartfelt writing too.

IcakethereforeIam · 27/10/2023 21:52

What happened to the Watson thread? Has it been zapped or have I misplaced it?

duc748 · 27/10/2023 23:49

Again, well said, Mouse. This is it, exactly.

The Guardian has got a long interview with Caster Semenya that from a quick read doesn't mention he's male and a good article on factionalisation and chaos at the new Tavistocks by Amelia Gentleman that I now can't find. I have to dash out now if anyone else wants to take a look.

ThisIsUncool · 28/10/2023 09:40

I’ve just filled in an online survey (usual sort of who did/do you intend to vote for, what are your views on these issues, etc), and it came up with this very reasonably worded set of options for ‘which of the following best reflects your view?’

  • All women’s services and spaces should be open to transgender women, and it should never be legal to exclude someone because they are transgender
  • There are some cases where it should be legal to provide services and spaces that are only for women who were female at birth, even if that means excluding transgender women
So I don’t know who they were running the survey for, but the question is being asked.
angelico53 · 28/10/2023 09:50

But I bet they don't define "transgender women"?

ThisIsUncool · 28/10/2023 09:59

No, they didn't define "transgender women" which they really should have. But it is the first time I've seen anything like this in a more general political opinion poll.
And the other option was "women who were female at birth" which should clarify it.

'Multiple female athletes dropped out of a women's martial arts tournament last week after being matched up to fight trans-identified males. In one of the women's divisions, the only participants left competing were men.'

This bit made my jaw drop -

'So embittered were my critics that they campaigned to ban me from even attending Fringe Festival events. At one point, the manager of Nanaimo’s Port Theatre even sent a letter demanding that my access to his facility “be restricted to public spaces,” and that, even then, I must “always be accompanied” by a chaperone. What exactly did they think was going to happen if I were permitted to attend a live performance without being tailed by an ideological enforcer?'

What the hell did they think she was going to do?

I don't understand Canada. I have two Canadian not-officially-stepsons and am confident that the one in Victoria BC (who tries, and fails, to be a politician) would lecture both of us most sternly and we would then be shunned, had we not cut off all contact with him years ago. He will have been there, baldly cheering them on. The other one, in Quebec, might do the "be kind" stuff but is probably a closet terf.

This is a very powerful post by Frood on the debate thread.

I hope the link works, but if not it's this:

And yet it demonstrates, again, the belief that women's rights are something in the gift of men to give or withhold or adapt at will. That women's resources belong to men, and men might be nice and decide to permit women some use of them up to and until the point where men want them.

It's why the boot on the neck analogy is so powerful. The unspoken assumption is that the boot be on your neck, and your willingness to lie down beneath it is taken for granted, but naice men will chat with you a bit about its exact position. And they will expect you to be grateful for this exceptional consideration on their part.

Made me think about the Righteous Clever-Clever Bros type of TRSOHers, who like to add fancy linguistic pseudointellectual clouds of ink, which in this analogy are the equivalent of how proper Good Ladies should feel joyous sensations of gratitude if the boot has a velvet upper and some lace trimmings.

Bum. That was a crowdfunder link that no one here is likely to donate to!

the Entitled American Enby who wants to reshape UK law in xir’s favour is in court on Wednesday.

Crowdfunder is about 125 grand short of xe’s target.

According to an article in the Independent this guy has a GRC because of this reciprocal 'list'. I think he got one from a state with self id. I thought that this list was going to be updated?

He has a surgically created cavity but, in a novel twist, has kept his penis. Wrong sex hormones and works in tech., obviously 🙄

His crowdfunder is over £70k short of a stretch target. How does that work? Is he personally on the hook for the shortfall or will the case be abandoned?

It's an interesting case, a man claiming to be neither/both genders is arguably no more stupid than a man claiming to be a woman. If he wins though it'll ratchet the door open a little to a shitload of nonsensical genders.

MavisMcMinty · 31/10/2023 22:17

I’ve had a great few days away, with my TERF Dad, my TERF sister and a TERF friend, who I have suggested joins MN. And on Saturday my 15-year old nephew sat quietly listening to me and my sister cackling raucously about our poor old bodies/vaginal atrophy/other unspeakable stuff, and then he said: “Men are so boring to listen to. Women are so much funnier and more interesting.”

duc748 · 01/11/2023 00:20

A good step in the right direction. The lad could go far.

Vegemiteandhoneyontoast · 01/11/2023 09:03

It's great discovering that your family are terfs. I found out my family are raging terfs a couple of weeks ago and that my step-brother is almost as raging as me. Apparently it's one of his main subjects. Haven't seen him for ages so must catch up.
