Continuation of Thread 5.

There is so much excellent information and so many active discussions on FWR that I wondered if it would be useful to have a thread to sort of "cross-fertilise" between them - airing little thoughts or vignettes that wouldn't themselves merit their own thread, to highlight other posts/threads of particular interest or to point to notable developments on fast-moving threads so that casual observers know where to look.

(For example, "the X thread has meandered onto a fascinating discussion of Y" or "Poster P's amazing analysis on thread Z might have relevance to the scenario in thread W" or "Has anybody noticed this recurring theme that keeps coming up??" or even "Random bloke asked me to smile while I was choosing onions in the supermarket, grr"- that sort of thing).

“Put TERFs in their place”, huh? Christ. These people must actually believe they’re the “most marginalised and oppressed people on earth”.

duc748 · 04/09/2023 21:47

I think they do. But the enablers, the Starmers and all the rest, they don't.

MouseMinge · 04/09/2023 21:49

He's been suspended according to the Reddux article. Thankfully. The fact that he was ever given that position in the first place is horrific. It wouldn't have taken more than a glimpse at his social media to realise he was a real danger to women. The SNP are a joke, a very bad joke but a joke all the same.

dunBle · 04/09/2023 22:11

Is that the "witch witch witch" one with the wheely seat walker thing?

Boiledbeetle · 04/09/2023 22:19

i think so, paints a completely different picture of the person when you compare the nice photo with the screamer

IcakethereforeIam · 04/09/2023 22:32

Nice photo? Who is he looking at? And the whole 'God told him to transition'? Interesting conversation

God 'Although I'm omnipotent, omniscient and, essentially, omniomni, I've put you in the wrong body, lol. So, I command you to transition. I realise that wearing women's clothes, especially underwear, might be diffic... Wow, me almighty, that was fast. Fortunate, that you already had a cupboard full.

Boiledbeetle · 04/09/2023 22:42

Yeah I don't quite get the God thing and wrong body thing. i mean one or the other OK, can kind of see where you might be in your head, but both?

I think this poor child's ordeal has been mentioned on previous threads. The blokes that raped and trafficked her knew a female when they saw one. Her parent is suing, I hope she wins, I hope she gets millions, I hope the people who facilitated this child's abuse never know a good night sleep. I hope Sage finds peace and lives a happy life.

Virginia mom sues school over daughter Sage Blair's secret transition

The parents of a Virginia teenager who was socially transitioned from a girl to a boy in high school without the school informing the parents are suing the school board.

Loved the riff on Happy Valley on that thread, though! 😄

Next up: religious leanings of heads of churches, and favoured locations for ursine defecation.

MouseMinge · 06/09/2023 00:01

Why aren't women happy? I just can't think. Maybe they can't afford pretty handbags and shoes. Maybe some ags have bought all the lacy bras. Maybe we're still treated like second-class citizens and every time we make some progress in equality the patriarchy finds another way to grind us down again. Nah, can't be that. It's the handbags. Probably a lack of quality fruity cocktails too.

MavisMcMinty · 06/09/2023 08:18

I remember reading decades ago that unmarried women are the happiest people and unmarried men are the unhappiest. Seemed logical to me!

Maybe if more of us had wives instead of husbands it’d be better.

Hahahahahaha.....massive eyeroll....quote extensively at OH with much lip-curling disdain.

Tldr: Women should be OK cos we have it all but are unhappy cos how society views us. Top solution, try some therapy.

Oh my!! (Puts wash on, cleans toilet seat of men's badly aimed morning wee, gets breakfast).

SqueakyDinosaur · 06/09/2023 10:47

I'm going to post an archive link in a separate post to a Times article which is about Dr Aidan Kelly, late of the Tavistock, who is setting up a private clinic.

My eyes were drawn to the line "The clinic, which operates from above a chicken shop in east London..." So totally un-dodgy and above board then.

IcakethereforeIam · 06/09/2023 11:41

Six appointments at £275 a pop!

MouseMinge · 06/09/2023 11:48

That's the second chicken type reference within gender "care". The other was from Dr Julia Mason on Gender A Wider Lens. She was talking about a gender zealot in the What is a Woman film. Matt [surname] saye that we know a chicken is a hen because it lays eggs. Her response, "But can a chicken cry? Can a chicken commi suicide.". Dr Julia Mason now calls her 'chickenwoman '.

A clinic above a chicken shop is less bizarre than that but it reeks of dodgy af. It probably also reeks of hot oil and grease.

MouseMinge · 06/09/2023 11:50

That should read " ... The second chicken type reference I've come across this week." On my mobile so can't edit myself out of mild inattention.

artant · 06/09/2023 23:59

“My eyes were drawn to the line "The clinic, which operates from above a chicken shop in east London..." So totally un-dodgy and above board then.”

I wonder whether they picked east London because of the census showing Newham as having the highest proportion of trans people thanks to a (deliberately) badly worded question.

duc748 · 07/09/2023 00:32

Heh! That would be funny. Sort of. 😀

IcakethereforeIam · 07/09/2023 10:03

Rosie Duffield has an article in Unherd, I've used this months ration though. It's been archived but they've got wise to that and now the login message obliterates half the article instead of decently obscuring some of the comments.

It's about Starmer's reshuffle, comparing it to a new term at a (wizardy) school, who fits...who doesn't. It's quite scathing and completely on the nose..

angelico53 · 07/09/2023 11:55

Just delete the cookies for unherd, if you're desperate. But the guilt ...

duc748 · 07/09/2023 12:41

I read it OK. Don't know how many I've read lately; a fair few.

IcakethereforeIam · 07/09/2023 12:52

I think if I copy the address from the page without opening it first I can read it okay in archive.ph. Thank you.
