the DM highlights some gender bat-shittery article every day to peak the nation so I support their pro woman stance. some days they have more than one 😀

I do read other news sites too!

BernardBlacksMolluscs · 14/06/2023 12:01

Merely curious about how people have formed their opinions

if they are so sure about them that they’re happy being rude to people on the internet who don’t share them, then it must be easy for them to explain how they have reached their positions? Right?

55balloons · 14/06/2023 12:01

BernardBlacksMolluscs · 14/06/2023 11:58

Also, wank rag? In what respect?

does the DM content routinely make you want to masturbate?

@BernardBlacksMolluscs crying😂😂

I don't think the Daily Mail is a feminist publication that has a mission statement on women's rights. I think it is a well run organisation that reads the public mood very quickly and astutely. They have not been afraid to be the first to stand up and say loudly THE EMPEROR HAS NO CLOTHES ON.

Because the emperor is indeed stark bollock naked, and those who insisted otherwise now look very silly indeed.

Seasonofthewitch83 · 14/06/2023 12:03

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 14/06/2023 11:58

For a paper that hates women's rights they're doing a bloody good job of defending them.

No, they have decided people love the trans debate as it gets clicks. This isnt about women at all.

Theeyeballsinthesky · 14/06/2023 12:03

I’m sure we could start an appreciation thread for all the times The Guardian has stood up for women’s rights….oh wait we couldn’t because they never do on account of them not knowing what a woman is

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 14/06/2023 12:03

Plus it embarrasses Labour to point all this stuff out and their stance on it, and if there's one thing the DM is about, it's not wanting Starmer as PM.

Being a proper feminist I’m afraid I have very little to do with my husband’s socks

you are coming over as most peculiar. Do you mean to?

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 14/06/2023 12:06

I'm not naive enough to think that ANY paper actually cares about me, whatever my rights, but to say they do it to get clicks is to imply a crass commercialism on the part of the DM that other papers wouldn't stoop to. They ALL do it for clicks.

MichelleScarn · 14/06/2023 12:06

Awaiting @BernardBlacksMolluscs to be told they are 'obsessed, OBSESSED! I tells you about other people genitals' is that not the usual go to to shut things down?

Maybe its because a stranger is asking about if I masturbate on Mumsnet? That is what is odd here.

CherryPosset · 14/06/2023 12:06

Can we also appreciate them when they show images of celebrities SHOWCASING or EXHIBITING their breasts when they're just out shopping or lying on a beach?

Let's be honest though, their intended audience is the uneducated, angry proletariat with an axe to grind.

Every publication has an intended consumer, and the DM's is unashamedly the average working man, generally working class with traditional values, a fear of progressive/diverse policies, and who is generally easily convinced that all UK problems involve immigration.
I see their intended consumer as malleable, easy to galvanise via contextless headline shockers, designed to achieve an angry/emotional response as opposed to a measured one.

The psychology is interesting if you have studied it. It isn't wholesome in the sense that it wants your kids to have an education, only that you will remain divided from the rest of the proletariat (especially those who do not conform to a very standardised, white, male centric etc) which education might actually reveal as ...problematic.

Worst of all - nationalism; unashamed and toxic. Any kind of nationalism multiplies in times of confusion and a reduction in social services (which, like poverty, is 'by design' and fully supported by the Murdoch class). The less educated one is, the more likely one can be nose-led towards nationalism, sexism and knee jerk judgement.

It's all so terribly icky, but that's just my opinion.

Bat-Shittery?
Can these words actually be topped😅

@SallyLockheart I wouldn't call the bearded man who sued the women's only nude spa to gain access "bat-shittery"..
So now he & his penis have access to the woman's only nude spa as he said he was discriminated against.. Then the DM reported his final clanger he is "an intentional woman" not an "incidental" woman like the rest of us mere women.

So thank you Daily Mail for reporting what's actually happening out there as most other mainstream media has been silenced.

Seem to recall I was accused of that on the M&S Pride thread when I said I didn't care what people did.

I am merely seeking clarification

Well isn't that what it's all about...!!!!
The power & influence of the media!
This is exactly what we need to highlight the protection of women's rights & safeguarding children from mutilation & castration.

Shall we appreciate the Völkische Beobachter and the Stürmer next? The naivety of some MNers never fails to astound me.

What astounds me is your failure to realise that this is what happens when the publications that are supposed to support women stop doing it. The news still has to come out, but this time you're not going to like the messenger.

Didn't you read Harry Potter? When the Daily Prophet refused to publish the truth about Voldemort returning, it had to come via the Quibbler. Nobody liked it then either, but what choice was there?

At any rate, much as I disagree with the Mail's political agenda overall, we should all be reading a wide range of sources, critically, to inform ourselves best. Again, look at Harry Potter. Hermione continued to subscribe to the Prophet, not because she liked it but because she knew it was important to know what it was saying.

Your knee jerk, Godwin's law reaction might be praised within student politics (although I think they're smarter than that now) but in the grown up world, it's time to think.

Just because the DM happens to align with some of ones' interests and beliefs for once, doesn't warrant it being granted "rehabilitated" status. A stopped clock is right twice a day. This is thoroughly depressing.
