Yes I watched it, had to follow the Daily Wire on Twitter first, seems to have been some shenanigans, seemingly involving someone resigning.

Id love schools to be required to show this film.

Iafontaine · 02/06/2023 13:09

I saw the twitter controversy, I will try to watch it. Hopefully it will succeed to reach a wide audience.

ThisIsUncool · 02/06/2023 13:12

I don't have a twitter account and it played OK for me. Maybe try logging out if your twitter account is causing problems.

EdgeOfACoin · 02/06/2023 14:17

Elon Musk ended up retweeting it.

It's reached a far, far larger audience than if some of the back room people at Twitter hadn't tried to stop it from being shown in the first place.

MalagaNights · 02/06/2023 14:41

Yes Elon has tweeted it. It's racking up the views rapidly.
It's a good and challenging film. The more it gets viewed the better.

TastesLikeStrawberriesOnASummerEvening · 02/06/2023 14:46

I watched it and enjoyed it.

Adult Human female is on vimeo and free to watch. Features many British feminists and isn't made by a bloke

NewNameNigel · 02/06/2023 14:50

I am part way through this and am really disappointed so far. He starts off with a loads of sexist bullshit his son only needing a BB gun for emotional support and then just goes into him asking people to define a woman as some kind of gotcha moment. It's hardly groundbreaking.

I will watch to the end in case it improves but so far I am not understanding why people think it is so great.

I think I might switch to that.

This appears to be more focused on Matt Walsh mocking people and making himself feel clever than on the actually experiences of women affected by the issue.

MalagaNights · 02/06/2023 15:10

It's more about kids than women despite the title.

The first half is quite light-hearted with people looking foolish, the second half is harder hitting when he starts talking to Scott Newgent and revealing what's been done to kids.

It's definitely not a GC feminist film but it'll resonate with many parents in the way that many GC feminists won't.

NewNameNigel · 02/06/2023 15:13

Its gone from bad to worse - there is something horribly colonial about the scene with the Maasai tribe!

Backstreets · 02/06/2023 15:46

The gender studies professor is so exactly a character out of a 90s comedy skit. The hair. The childish repetition of Walsh's questions. Then the blue haired doctor with the "does a chicken commit suicide" bit...

Yeah Matt Walsh is a conservative sexist who looked at the radical feminists' homework and passed it off as his own, but it's a good watch.

There were many irritating aspects to MW’s film but Marci Bowers’ description of transableism as a mental health condition and “kooky” contrasted against their own glaring blind spot was worth the price of admission. The gender affirming, puberty blocker dispensing medic from Planned Parenthood was 😱.

Was weirdly satisfying watching this play out on Twitter.

It is good at exposing the knots people tie themselves in to avoid linking the definition to biology, so to avoid saying something that would get them cancelled. Shining a light on the inability to speak freely is good.

NotTerfNorCis · 02/06/2023 17:49

I've started watching it. I'm sure I'll agree with most of it, but the start makes me uncomfortable. Men can't understand women, and girls need a lot of emotional support while a boy is content with a BB gun. In his own way, Walsh is as fond of gender stereotypes as the TRAs.

I could see a bit of an “oh shit” moment in his eyes. But then he’s someone who makes a hell of a lot of money sterilising and disfiguring young people so had to follow through in othering other people who might purposely disfigure perfectly healthy young people. Obviously there’s a lot of difference in cutting off healthy breasts to cutting off and arm in his mind.

i wonder if he gets particular satisfaction in performing a blood initiation into his cult.

NotTerfNorCis · 02/06/2023 18:13

Oh my God I'm embarrassed for that 'college professor'.

onlytherain · 02/06/2023 19:24

I find it quite remarkable that a college professor insinuates we should not ask questions. I thought their job was the exact opposite.

I wonder what the parents who are paying many, many thousands for their kids to go there think?

SidewaysOtter · 02/06/2023 20:26

I thought it was pretty good. I must admit that I skimmed through the first bit but it’s quite hard hitting by the end. I hope it gets widely seen.

And what’s the betting all of the people made to look like idiots are going to complain that they were traumatised? I hope there’s enough welfare rooms/energy bars/emotional support animals to go round Hmm

Transparent2 · 02/06/2023 21:24

I thought there was more than one way to look at the first part. I presume the presentation of gender stereotypes was deliberate, and I didn’t assume that Matt Walsh approves of such extreme sexism. In his later questions he was sometimes obviously acting rather than expressing his own opinion.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 02/06/2023 21:24

I still haven't seen all of it, I'm hoping to watch it with DP shortly.

AnotherDayAnotherView · 02/06/2023 21:45

I agree that is it good that such a view is available to people who may not describe themselves as either GC feminists or radical - it reaches a more wide ranging audience - in that respect it is very successful at raising awareness of the issues discussed.
