??

I think we know why it's been made "political". Because of trans-activism and the claim that TWAW. So it's tied up with people demanding political rights.

That's a symptom. I'd expect Hitler and Ghandi to both come up with the "adult human female" answer if asked what a woman was. It's not a virtue signalling exercise or loyalty test for your "side". It used to just be common sense that even toddlers understood. So what changed?

ohdelay · 04/06/2023 12:17

When did biological reality become political?

nolongersurprised · 04/06/2023 12:23

TraumatisedGooner · 04/06/2023 11:30

Perhaps the gender critical movement needs to work harder to distance itself from the alt right the likes of Walsh, Peterson, Carlson, and Parker before its too late and the trajectory of the movement is bound to the trajectory of the hyper conservative American right.

And when I say 'work harder' I mean 'do anything at all'.

Why does it have to be about “sides” though?

there’s not a single person I agree with everything about. I’m adult enough to like Matt Walsh’s and KJR’s work but not agree with them about everything.

And if it has to be reduced to sides, it’s been disconcerting to find this gender nonsense is the product of the left, and how much some left-wing men despise women.

nolongersurprised · 04/06/2023 12:25

Ideologically I would have once had more in common with the chicken lady than Matt Walsh. I mean, that’s fucked up 😀

HereForTheFreeLunch · 04/06/2023 12:31

Irrespective of what one thinks of Matt Walsh, very blood pressure inducing. These smug condescending people happily throwing women under the bus - the gender studies guy. They took women's studies and turned it all around.

And when I say 'work harder' I mean 'do anything at all'.

Like endorsing puberty blockers for children, with all the health problems that result from such unnecessary medication?

Like supporting the removal of functioning, healthy body parts from under-18s and gender confused adults?

Like signing up to and promoting the theories of Alfred C Kinsey who investigated orgasms on children and babies from the age of 5 months old?

Like that, you mean?

I think it's quite clear from my post that I'm not saying the gender critical movement does nothing, I am saying that the movemnet does nothing to distance themselves from the likes of Matt Walsh.

When did biological reality become political?

When we weren't looking.

The girl who is willing to say she doesn't exists if that's what Walsh says...
I get the metaphysical thing of what exists, what's true... but meanwhile we do have physical reality.

When did truth become so subjective??? My truth or your truth... ffs... there's the truth and there's perspective. Maybe someone's truth doesn't have the full perspective but there's also outright lies.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 04/06/2023 12:41

Is that all that's stopping you from acknowledging women's rights, promoting decent child safeguarding and understanding biological reality then? You should have said!

Ereshkigalangcleg · 04/06/2023 12:41

Sorry Gooner, meant to quote.

This is what gets me. She knows she exists, but she is so tied to her cult she will say anything. Same with Starmer, 60yr old man, refusing to say that women can't have penises. Every politician over 40 who says this is an outright liar. I don't believe they believe this, they are standing there screaming 2+2=5 like cultists because they have to.
Same with any medical professional who plays along. There have been no medical miracles or new findings on this and they have been unable to make functional neo genitalia on mice , but happily having a go on humans. When did "do no harm become", let's affirm you with some mutilation.

Of course you're not going to agree with everything anyone says. But you and the gender critical movement should be conscious of whose support you are garnering. Matt Walsh is not a single issue bigot. Signal boosting this man and his alt right network is not only going to affect trans people. "First they came for the trans people, and I didn't care because I don't like trans people". It's obvious what comes next and/or simultaneously: homophobia, misogyny, and a reversion to 'traditional' Christian values. Do not believe that the gender critical movement is going to be able to apply the brakes at the right time. The right time to distance yourselves from Walsh is right now.

NotBadConsidering · 04/06/2023 12:50

Why should I distance myself from Matt Walsh? I vehemently disagree with him on some things and vehemently agree with him on others. Plus, he’s funny. I don’t care what people think about how that’s seen as “aligning”.

These left wing/right wing purity spiral threads have been done to death. They’re so utterly trite, all I see from the “distance yourselves” purity spiral brigade who frequent them is a bunch of children who can’t have a grown up independent thought in their own heads unless it’s from the “approved” side. I imagine them to be utter bores in real life because they must go through life according to the script provided to them, robot-like, “Must. Not. Think. For. Myself.” 🥱🥱 😴😴

It's a yes or no question and the fact that even Matt Walsh knows the correct answer means maybe he's not the problem. What are you afraid of? If Matt Walsh said the earth was round would you fight him on it, cos alt right or say yes I know?

NutellaEllaElla · 04/06/2023 12:55

Funny hope the purity spiral brigade don't distance themselves from violent cancel culture activists. Hypocrites.

NutellaEllaElla · 04/06/2023 12:56

How not hope

PurpleBugz · 04/06/2023 12:56

@TraumatisedGooner

Or we could write:
"First they came for the LGB and I did not speak up because I was LGB,
Then they came for the universities and I did not speak up because I wasn't at university,
Then they came for the children....."

This obsession with calling TERFs nazis. TERFs are literally arguing AGAINT the sterilisation of mentally I'll children and autistic children- something the actual nazis literally did do.

I call propaganda

NotBadConsidering · 04/06/2023 12:56

🤣🤣🤣 we have the support of everyone on the planet who believes in biological reality. We aren’t “garnering” support, dear, we are waking it up. It will include a whole range of different people on all sides of the political spectrum because a whole range of humans across the globe believe in biological reality. Holding a political position isn’t a prerequisite for it. It just is.

”In breaking news, right wing people also believe Earth is not flat. Scientists wary of garnering their support against Flat Earthers”

Said no one ever🤣🤣🤣

MavisMcMinty · 04/06/2023 12:59

I’m as left-wing as they come and hate “being on the same side” as people like Matt Walsh and media outlets like GB News and newspapers like the Telegraph and Daily Mail. But just like Brexit, one takes one’s allies where one finds them. Doesn’t mean we have to agree with them on anything else. Look at Piers Morgan during the pandemic, one of the only mainstream presenters to try to hold Johnson’s government to account. Still loathe him and everything else he does, like hating on Meghan Markle.

Justnot · 04/06/2023 13:02

Right wing adjacent/trans suicide/pro nouns seem to be the only arguments gooner et al have got. Load of bollox basically. Suspiciously silent on the women’s sports threads etc where there is science/facts they can’t argue with.

maltravers · 04/06/2023 13:06

The health and safety of children and women shouldn’t be a political matter. I’ll take allies who will protect kids and women where I find them. The squeals to denounce MW for being a right winger are just attempts to “divide and rule” IMO. He may be a bit sexist and conservative but he knows not to cut off kids’ breasts and genitals which is the more important point. I’m quite able to agree with him on this and disagree on other matters.

Backstreets · 04/06/2023 13:08

We be here in the first place if the left hadn't distanced itself from reality

Backstreets · 04/06/2023 13:08

*We wouldn't, agh

maltravers · 04/06/2023 13:09

I thought the film was a powerful summary of where we are, which is in a bad place.

"What is a woman" is not a yes or no question.

Ultimately if I needed to find a source to argue on my behalf that the Earth is round, I wouldn't struggle to find someone that is (1) an actual subject matter expert and (2) not an awful person.

I'm not disagreeing with Matt Walsh because he's an awful person. I'm saying that the gender critical movement should avoid signal boosting Matt Walsh because you're advancing all of his causes not just one of them.

Can a woman have a penis? No.
Just like that.
I didn't need to call a friend
