If you like folksy ballards this might appeal.

But am really posting to show how LWS has gone global.

US musicians writing about events in NZ organised by UK campaigner!

"This is the Ballad of Posie Parker
Before it gets light it's gotta get darker
Down under in Auckland they thought that they could stop her
But she never loses 'cause she's the Posie Parker"

My youngest DC (thinks they’re nonbinary and wants to change their name) sent me this one:

Farewell to Aukland
(All credit to & inspired by Monty Python’s Brave Sir Robin)

Brave Posie ran away,
Bravely ran away, away.
When danger reared its ugly head, she bravely turned her tail and fled.
Yes, brave Posie turned about
And gallantly, she chickened out.
Bravely taking to her feet,
She beat a very brave tomato’d retreat,
Bravest of the brave, Posie Parker.
She was packing it in and packing it up
And sneaking away and gramming it up
And chickening out and pissing off home,
Yes, bravely she was calling one-one-one.

Considering how traumatised many "non binary" people are by "misgendering" and generally being disagreed with, and how they need "welfare rooms" with energy bars and ear plugs laid on simply because their university is hosting a female academic to speak about women's rights, that's quite funny. I don't think they'd be particularly brave facing the misogynistic bullying and violence Kellie Jay and her supporters did.

Is this really the kind of person you want to write songs for?

And she said men should go into women's toilets with guns to protect them.

It WAS a dangerous situation that escalated into violence quickly.

Not sure what your point is?

A baying, physically threatening mob screaming threats and insults to a 5'1" woman.

Yet, "words are violence", "mis-gendering and deadnaming causes suicide" , footage of temper tantrums when people don't use the correct pronouns.

Give me strength.

No point. I thought this would be a light hearted thread sharing folk ballads about Posie Parker and her tour down under? The OP posted the perspective it was a victory, but there’s a perspective also out there that it ended in failure. Just sharing silly songs.

It's an interesting perspective. The publicity arising from the incident in Auckland has sparked off more independently organised Speaking For Women events, put the issue on the national agenda in Australia and New Zealand, galvanised hundreds of women into speaking up and acting locally. KJK will be in Vienna and Geneva next week. It really put the spotlight on the violence and intimidation of the men's sexual rights terrorists who protest women's rights events. Demonstrating quite neatly that they're last people you'd want to access women's spaces.
I'd definitely call it a win.

Exactly. They're violent, aggressive and unhinged, screaming, calling for violence, they're very scary, intimidating people who by their very fascism are not anyone who will allow free speech, debate, etc. Was a prime example of what awful people they are.

Yes. Did you have a further question?

I agree with a lot of what Posie says. I don't agree with everything but we all have opinions on things, some will be the same and some will be different. We listen and, if necessary, respectfully disagree. If we debate stuff we either come to a common middle ground or we agree to respect each other's differing opinion. That's how grown-ups deal with things.

@flaffydaffy

"And she said men should go into women's toilets with guns to protect them."

That's a mid quote. She said men should be protecting women and stopping other men going into the women's toilets. It followed a comment about I think Americans with their guns.

She absolutely did not say take your guns and threaten trans women over toilets

She said that if you're a man and you consider yourself to be a protector of women, and whether you 'carry' or whether you don't (i.e. you could do this with a gun if you wanted) you should start using women's toilets. And don't upset women and girls who are in there, but make them feel okay about you being in there.
No she didn't say explicitly go threaten trans women with guns but why mention the guns if you're not suggesting men do this with guns? Whatever it is she thinks they should be doing in there.
Saying we are against men in women's spaces therefore men should go into women's spaces is an extremely dumbass thing to say you must admit.

She's blaming homophobia on trans people.

I've seen quite a lot of commentators on twitter expressing concern that the strong association between LGB and T is going to cause a backlash, she's hardly the only one saying it.
I mean you've literally got the LGB Alliance that has formed as a result.

flaffydaffy · 01/06/2023 15:34

SidewaysOtter · 01/06/2023 15:19

Citation:
"14 year old getting assaulted in Meath just for being gay."
"Now that the T attached itself to LGB and forced itself down everyone’s throats the LGB are going to be included in the backlash."

The response is suggesting that the assault happened because of a thing "T" did. That's blaming. T stands for Trans hence she is blaming trans people. Where have I gone wrong here?

@FrostyFifi she's not the only one saying it. Does that make it a good thing to say?

anyolddinosaur · 01/06/2023 16:27

If anyone is being blamed it is those who gaslight, try to compel speech, try to force their opinions on others, try to deny same sex attracted people a choice and refuse to allow others to speak, threaten and perform violent actions. Are you saying all trans people do those things? How transphobic.

We have a massive logic fail here.

KJK: this homophobic attack happened because of "T"
Me: "T" refers to trans so she's blaming the homophobic attack on trans people
You: List a bunch of bad things that supposedly trans people are doing, I guess you only mean "some" trans people and not all. You accuse me of thinking all trans people are doing things like this. You accuse me of being transphobic.

I personally didn't blame the homophobic attack on either trans people OR a bunch of bad things some trans people supposedly do. You're the one who came up with this list. You're the one who says some trans people gaslight, try to compel speech etc. I didn't say ANYTHING like that so where on earth do you get the notion that I think ALL trans people do the things on YOUR list?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 01/06/2023 17:59

You're the one who says some trans people gaslight, try to compel speech etc

Well, yes. Everyone knows they do.
