If you like folksy ballards this might appeal.

But am really posting to show how LWS has gone global.

US musicians writing about events in NZ organised by UK campaigner!

"This is the Ballad of Posie Parker
Before it gets light it's gotta get darker
Down under in Auckland they thought that they could stop her
But she never loses 'cause she's the Posie Parker"

You're the one who says some trans people gaslight, try to compel speech etc

Well, yes. Everyone knows they do.

Well I didn't say that, I didn't accuse even SOME trans people of doing the items on the list and yet I'm the one who's been accused of being transphobic!
Note KJK didn't say anything like that, list any sort of behaviours, she just said T which stands for trans. If she didn't mean trans people she could have made that clear.

Yes. Did you have a further question?

I agree with a lot of what Posie says. I don't agree with everything but we all have opinions on things, some will be the same and some will be different. We listen and, if necessary, respectfully disagree. If we debate stuff we either come to a common middle ground or we agree to respect each other's differing opinion. That's how grown-ups deal with things.

We're not talking about 'debate' with Parker. We're talking about writing songs that elevate her.

This tweet is an example of homophobia. Only a homophobe could see could see a tragic story about a kid being attacked for being gay and think that it's appropriate to (1) politicise it and (2) blame it on a group that weren't in any way responsible.

So my 'further question' is this: are you the kind of person that wants to write songs elevating a homophobe?

TraumatisedGooner · 01/06/2023 20:04

FrostyFifi · 01/06/2023 15:24

She's blaming homophobia on trans people.

I've seen quite a lot of commentators on twitter expressing concern that the strong association between LGB and T is going to cause a backlash, she's hardly the only one saying it.
I mean you've literally got the LGB Alliance that has formed as a result.

If transphobia spills over into homophobia, d'you know who is to blame?

Transphobes and homophobes. You know. Like Posie Parker.

The LGB Alliance didn't form because some lesbian, gay and bisexual people were worried about transphobia. It formed because they some lesbian, gay and bisexual people wanted to be able to engage in transphobia.

Florissante · 01/06/2023 20:19

TRAs have made me more sympathetic to lesbians.

anyolddinosaur · 01/06/2023 20:23

@flaffydaffy If Posie referred to "forced itself down everyone’s throats" (and nothing you say can be believed as you misquote when it suits you) then that is exactly what TRAs do, as they demonstrate whenever they open their mouths. LGB Alliance formed because homosexuals dont want anyone tell them who they have sex with - and why should they. TRAs dont recognise logic - how could they when they start by denying reality. They promote homosexual conversion therapy, their message is frequently homophobic as well as deeply mysoginistic.

No it formed because some gay, lesbian and bisexual people don't feel that they should be grouped with transgender people, as it's not the same thing and not a sexuality.
This apparently makes them raging transphobes.

I've just read this over and over again and I don't know how to reply to it because it's a jumble of words that isn't really a reply to me because it doesn't relate to anything I said.

Sexuality is different to gender identity, yes. There's nothing inherently wrong with an organisation that exists to further the interests and protect LGB people. However we're talking about a specific organisation, not a hypothetical one. If you look at LGB Alliance's statements and actions I think it's clear they exist to exclude TQ+ rather than help LGB.

Every campaign listed on the Campaigns page of LGB Alliance's website has something to do with trans-related issues. Do they have any activities that are actually about LGB rights? They seem awfully focused on trans issues for an LBG charity.

And? They're entitled to have whatever focus they wish.

Yeah but they just don't seem focused on LGB people.

There is always one thread that brings out all the yeahbutnobutyeahbut posters isn't there!

It's just a joke now.

First they came for the threads where people write songs idolising a bigot...

Hepwo · 01/06/2023 22:37

Isn't there a safe room somewhere you can get an energy bar for the trauma?

OK. KJK is a bigot. She doesn't have a degree in comparative genderism from Cambridge and she is guilty of saying what she thinks. She ain't the sharpest knife in the drawer and she says a lot of things that she might regret on reflection. But she cares. She really cares and she will fight for that tiny space that belongs to women and children. Can you claim to be better?

I'm not traumatised. I'm trying to understand why so many in this community are supportive of Parker. The gender critical movement clearly advertises itself as being pro LGB. I feel this is undermined/contradicted by the support of Parker given her homophobic statements.

Is there any evidence that Parker regrets comments like these?

Yeah but they just don't seem focused on LGB people.

They are, just not in the way you wish. Their entire raison d'etre is to provide a non force teamed alternative to advocate for LGB people.

Funny that trans rights activism has frequently "spilled over into homophobia". Who's to blame for that? Let me guess, it's women you don't approve of, isn't it.

Why are you haranguing women on mumsnet for their perceived wrongthink, is it because the football season is over now and you need a new hobby?
