Surely It's all on the CCTV?

Leftoverssandwich · 17/05/2023 16:13

Possibly not the bit when they went for the phone?

What a surprise Ben hunte wrote that complete bs article.
I don't believe anything luna has to say about this whilst still claiming that luna is at risk from everyone, except that luna reported Vanessa to the police for transphobia. We even have video of luna refusing to refund Vanessa yet luna claims the opposite is true funny that

The video clearly shows Vanessa asking for a refund and Starbucks ex-manager replying "You're not getting a refund". Ex-manager now claims that ex-manager offered a refund. Ex-manager is lying.

Because ex-manager has lied about offering a refund, we cannot believe anything else that ex-manager has said.

If Vice have seen Vanessa saying nasty things on socials, why haven't they taken and published screenshots? This looks a lot like baseless smearing to me.

And how convenient that all the accusations of transphobic behaviour weren't caught on camera.

There's in-store CCTV footage, surely? Ex-manager can submit a data subject access request for it and publish it.

Ready to dig if Vanessa is taken to court and crowdfunds a defence.

Would there not be in store CCTV ?
If so, it would be simple enough to put the record straight.

BezMills · 17/05/2023 17:01

Corporate Starbucks want no piece of this. Luna is on thems own.

I did say very unpleasant. I have no intention to minimise what happened to Vanessa and her husband as it was a thoroughly nasty experience and I’m so glad it’s had sunlight shone on it. But Dan’s insistence it was “Absolutely horrifying” and attempts to put words into their mouths felt a bit like tabloid sensationalising to me. If you use “absolutely horrifying” for an attack where no injury was inflicted, your words lose impact for a more serious incident. It’s like when people say they were “absolutely devastated” about a minor thing. It weakens the words.

How do you know no injury was inflicted? Even if no physical injury, the psychological injury could be serious.

I was once dragged off my bike by a nasty man. I wasn't physically harmed but it severely impacted my life, I was fearful and struggled to leave the house. Was on antidepressants for several years. That's just as much an injury as any physical damage.

NotTerfNorCis · 17/05/2023 17:52

No idea if Luna concocted a story. Luna certainly had a lot of thinking time to do so.

The video shows the customer insisting she wasn't transphobic. Would someone who'd just repeatedly called a transwoman a man and railed about gender woo do that? It sounds like she said something pretty innocent and it all blew up.

As for the comments supposedly made afterwards on social media... could be true... but it's natural to go over the top after an incident like that and say things you wouldn't normally say.

That vice article reads like it's been written by a child. The "right wing media" being used as some kind of insult, or indicator of being the "baddies". And how convenient that all the accusations of transphobic behaviour weren't caught on camera. Given how calm the woman involved was being despite being harangued by the manager, it seems unlikely that just moments before she was "screaming" or "ranting" and so on.

I agree - and if she had been it would all have been caught of Starbucks internal cameras, wouldn't it?

Emotionalsupportviper · 17/05/2023 18:15

OldGardinia · 17/05/2023 16:28

A newt?

Look!

A road can identify as a newt if it wants to - if it feels that all of its life it has been a newt in its very essence then IT IS A NEWT!!! 😡

You're just a transamphibiphobic bigot!

IT JUST WANTS TO PEE!!!!!!

Emotionalsupportviper · 17/05/2023 18:17

*toad - not road

(I hate you autocarrot, with every fibre of my being . . . )

Believing that TWAM isn't transphobic, at least according to the majority of posters on this board. We might however agree that voicing that opinion in an inappropriate setting, such as a coffee shop, would be transphobic.

Yes, if a dispute over paying in cash really did escalate into 'you are a man' rhetoric, that might be called transphobic. It wasn't the time nor the place to debate gender identity. It wasn't relevant.

But even if that did happen, and we have no evidence it did, Spain's violent reaction wasn't justified.

NotTerfNorCis · 17/05/2023 21:27

Although having said that, it sounds like the manager introduced the subject when the customer referred to a female member of staff as a 'lady'. I can imagine how that might go if the customer was already wound up.

Sorry you went through that - and you’re quite right that psychological effects from violence can be extremely damaging. I also sympathise with PPs who commented they’d have found the Starbucks incident very traumatic due to previous experience of violence. My point really was that I felt Dan was putting words into the couple’s mouths in a way that tabloid journos so often do. I wanted to hear them speak for themselves without his stirring. Phrases like “Absolutely horrifying” are classic tabloid fodder. But yes, I do accept that saying it was actually just “very unpleasant” was unwise when people are affected by violence in so many different ways.

DerekFaker · 18/05/2023 17:49

Thia doesn't add up does it?

Vanessa was shouting transphobic rhetoric, but even though she had her back to outside, she stopped when her partner started filming.

Luna said they asked Vanessa to come to the till for a refund but she just continued to shout - but she was AT the till in the video. And she asked for a refund and Luna told her she couldn't have one.

'Witesses' but only in anonymous one was quoted - where did Vox find these witnesses? It's all a bit "A source close to the actress said..."

Surely Starbucks will have viewed the full CCTV.

Still, nothing justifiea the violent reaction from Luna.

IcakethereforeIam · 18/05/2023 17:56

IANAL but if Luna's not being honest in the Vice interview then Vanessa's been libelled, imo.

I'd LOVE to see the Starbucks security footage.

Luna is desperately back-pedalling now. Them would be better to just admit they's bad behaviour and accept herm's punishment.

Just wondering if the glass doors shattered when someone high-pitch whistled for their dog, and Luna storm-flouncing out of the shop with xer's coat and slamming the doors, as reported, had nothing to do with the damage. 🤔

NecessaryScene · 18/05/2023 19:57

Sorry, I'm just dying to know this super-important information. Wasn't they non-binary earlier? I thought we'd established she had they/them earrings and everything. Or is he fluid?

(Were there some frilly knickers that override the earrings?)

NecessaryScene · 18/05/2023 20:01

Or did he just slam the door so hard he accidentally swapped genders with his co-worker?

Or did she take over his gender along with the Starbucks when he quit?

Sorry if I sound like I've just woken up and am struggling to follow the plot. I missed may have zoned out at some point.

It's like an action movie with too many explosions - so much gender going on you kind of get desensitised...

Emotionalsupportviper · 18/05/2023 21:41

Twilight-zoned in, more like.

I keep hoping we'll wake up and it's all been a hideous dream.

No, the ear-rings were someone else, I think?
