Dan’s a bit of a stirrer I think, whipping it up to be this “absolutely horrifying” thing when really it was just “very unpleasant”.

Leftoverssandwich · 16/05/2023 17:47

He’s appalling, as is GB News.

Helleofabore · 16/05/2023 18:07

Why is GB news more appalling than other news services?

Leftoverssandwich · 16/05/2023 18:24

Did I say it was?

Helleofabore · 16/05/2023 18:56

Yeah righto. So, Why is it appalling?

TowelRailing · 16/05/2023 18:56

I don’t like the interviewing style but
I’d describe being physically carried out of the shop as worse than ‘unpleasant’.

VaddaABeetch · 16/05/2023 19:31

I’d be absolutely furious if someone picked me up to throw me out of a shop.

It’s a horrible assault not merely unpleasant.

KalimbaMoon · 16/05/2023 20:12

I did say very unpleasant. I have no intention to minimise what happened to Vanessa and her husband as it was a thoroughly nasty experience and I’m so glad it’s had sunlight shone on it. But Dan’s insistence it was “Absolutely horrifying” and attempts to put words into their mouths felt a bit like tabloid sensationalising to me. If you use “absolutely horrifying” for an attack where no injury was inflicted, your words lose impact for a more serious incident. It’s like when people say they were “absolutely devastated” about a minor thing. It weakens the words.

Vanessa Thomas and husband Mark Adrews have been on GB News.

I did like that when Wooton said would they be happy to meet Luna in the studio and talk things out, Vanessa's response was "Certainly not!"

Vanessa, you were called a transphobic Karen when you were just trying to buy a coffee. I wouldn’t bother respecting the pronouns of someone who’d disrespected me so spectacularly.

I think she was being very careful to do that so that no-one could accuse her of transphobia. I'll bet she had to practice. 😀

I agree.

I was badly assaulted many years ago and I would have found that man laying hands on me absolutely terrifying - and I'll bet I wouldn't;t be the only one!

💐ESV

You're not the only one.

This struck me too.

The expectation to respect a person choice of pronouns when they have shown no respect for your physical personhood.

Vanessa experienced being assaulted by a man.

She shouldn't have to be in fear of saying that.

Why is her lived reality less important than Luna's imagined fantasy?

This is an issue Dan should have picked up on.

SinnerBoy · 17/05/2023 02:52

That's the first time I've been able to see the video (ship's WiFi is very poor - we're alongside now). The GBN report was interesting, they were very respectful to Luna... she, her, manageress etc.

I hadn't realised previously that Vanessa had been picked up bodily and thrown out. Luna really needs to be prosecuted and to have a huge reality bump.

Who honestly thinks that they can go around lecturing people aggressively, when they work in a service industry (going on about mobiles, before the rant about transphobia) and snatching her handbag?

BezMills · 17/05/2023 07:42

Luna needs to give their head a wobble and have a little think to them self.

TheSilveryPussycat · 17/05/2023 11:54

I think they were right to be respectful of people's pronouns, even if not agreeing. Otherwise it opens them up to people saying "See! Transphobic!" and derailing discussion about this incident.

IcakethereforeIam · 17/05/2023 15:29

Gosh, I didn't expect the Spanish inquisition.

BezMills · 17/05/2023 15:41

Viral argument, criminal assault. Potato potato.

Allthegoodnamesarechosen · 17/05/2023 15:50

Also, why is there a pile of biscuits or cakes on the floor before the scuffle? Why doesn’t the supervisor pick them up,,or tell the non binary assistant to pick them up? Very untidy.

RoseslnTheHospital · 17/05/2023 15:54

That vice article reads like it's been written by a child. The "right wing media" being used as some kind of insult, or indicator of being the "baddies". And how convenient that all the accusations of transphobic behaviour weren't caught on camera. Given how calm the woman involved was being despite being harangued by the manager, it seems unlikely that just moments before she was "screaming" or "ranting" and so on.

Hoardasurass · 17/05/2023 15:54

What a surprise Ben hunte wrote that complete bs article.
I don't believe anything luna has to say about this whilst still claiming that luna is at risk from everyone, except that luna reported Vanessa to the police for transphobia. We even have video of luna refusing to refund Vanessa yet luna claims the opposite is true funny that

dropthevipers · 17/05/2023 15:54

SirSamVimesCityWatch · 17/05/2023 15:39

😆

Nobody expects the Spanish inquisition.

IcakethereforeIam · 17/05/2023 16:03

Well, its chief weapon is surprise!

I thought Vice had gone bankrupt.

Leftoverssandwich · 17/05/2023 16:09

Haven't we all accidentally broken the glass in a door when closing it?

My guess would be that the initial account given to managers was substantially different to that revealed by the recording.
