It’s not clear what the customer said, it’s presumed she misgenders the employee as he calls her transphobic. He calls her Karen and then either grabs the phone or the person who’s filming.

These people have been convinced that misgendering is akin to 'genociding' them.

That gives them the right to respond violently in their minds, especially if the person who has committed the crime of misgendering is a woman, even more so if she dares to be middle age. I doubt he'd have behaved the same way if a male of a similar stature had misgendered him.

This is going to happen more and more often. I hope Starbucks sack him.

willWillSmithsmith · 08/05/2023 14:40

Well ‘her’ testosterone seems to be running high through ‘her’ body doesn’t it.

"You're being transphobic Karen"

Ahhhh! I was focused on the ‘trespassing’ comments.

Thanks everyone!

Theunamedcat · 08/05/2023 14:41

How do you misgender staff? All I do is order my drink pay and wait I don't call them anything?

If someone the stature of The Rock misgendered this self obsessed oaf what would they do then I wonder 🤔

Interested in the response of his co-worker who stood well back and didn't get involved. Can't help feeling that if I liked my co-worker I'd have tried to calm things down.

Perhaps they are an issue behind the counter too

Awful behaviour, Karen is a known insult and no-one should use it. Makes me even happier that my local Starbucks closed a few years ago, not that I went and gave my money to the tax avoiders anyway.

I've been boycotting them for years because of their tax avoidance, too.

Which is a shame, because it means I can't boycott them now.

RhymesWithOrange · 08/05/2023 14:47

You can also mark the google reviews as "helpful"....

willWillSmithsmith · 08/05/2023 14:48

TheNecessaryWoman · 08/05/2023 14:32

So the staff member was in a tizzy over wrong pronouns, yet the staff member called the customer "Karen". Was he assuming the customer's gender identity? It must be exhausting spending 24/7 obsessing over how you identify and looking to be misgendered.

If only she’d said, “why have you called me Karen, you’ve misgendered me I’m a trans man, apologise to me now!” He (sorry, they) can’t argue that’s she’s not as just saying you are makes it so (in trans world).

Maybe there's a transphobic "look" ?

'You're being transphobic, Karen.' Listen from 0.50.

https://twitter.com/RupertMyers/status/1655477645184835586

What's with all this 'to be fair' nonsense coming from people? This man has verbally assaulted and intimidated a paying customer and has then assaulted the man with the phone. 'Give me the phone.'

Are these the trans rights they keep going on about? The right to assault people, seize property etc?

👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
THIS THIS THIS THIS and THIS!
I don’t give a fuck about your pronouns and what you like and don’t like in your bedroom.
But maybe that’s the problem? It’s not in the bedroom anymore?
Why all of a sudden bedroom preferences are a personality???

Serve me my coffee and let me pay and let’s get on with our days.

Instead, verbally assault a customer, physically intimidate her (I tell you, if you clap that close to my face, you won’t even see it coming, but maybe it will slap that nonsense out your head), repeatedly abuse power (get out, you’re trespassing, YOU don’t get a refund, etc) then proceed to physically assault another customer or by passer, and try to seize (illegally) their belongings with force.

There is NOTHING that she could have said to make him, a “professional” (quoted marks because he wasn’t behaving as one) to behave in this manner.
He was behaving as a mentality unstable person.

WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Probably as innocuous as someone asking if she's been served and her replying "it's OK, that chap over there has my order, thanks", with the customer not recognising badly dyed hair tied in a pony tail with, "she/her" on a badge makes someone a lady with a lady penis and is therefore the customers words are akin to actual violence.

I was thinking about that picture the other day. So fucking odd, the whole premise and execution.

The photo’s still on Mermaids site, got the screen shot a hour ago.

Just shows how confident they are that what they’re doing is allowed. Just think about the production meeting where this photo background was planned and agreed. So many other visual options and stories dismissed for this one.

Personally I see it simply as an open display of the collapse of child safeguarding. No challenge from a child safeguarding authority means “do whatever you want”.

If you’ve got kids in this game, you’ll know they’re correct.

*It is an unfortunate fact that some customers are trash and should be treated accordingly. *

and what about the bystander filming! Did they deserve to get assaulted?

Nobody is trash, and the person filming certainly hadn’t done anything wrong.

the Starbucks employee looked like a man, sounded like a man and acted like a man. How are people supposed to know what strangers define themselves as? 🤷‍♀️

midsomermurderess · 08/05/2023 15:03

I am so shocked by that. I thought that Mermaids were actually closed down after the publicity , I hadn’t realised that it was still functioning. Shocking.

Theunamedcat · 08/05/2023 15:08

As the camera is flailing around you clearly see people just stood their watching one person walks past with a small child just what the fuck do they put in the water over there? Oh fight outside Starbucks again nvm need my coffee just step over the bodies darling mother needs a fix

Mermaids have a new acting CEO, Jackie Green has said on camera that Susie was ‘fired’.
Charity Commission investigation still ongoing.

Susie Green now works for GenderGP.

LizzieSiddal · 08/05/2023 15:22

What nasty fucker.
I hope that poor woman is ok!

Badgeringabout · 08/05/2023 15:32

Horrible violent man. He was a hair's breadth from hitting her and then went on to physically attack the bloke filming by the looks of it. How fucking dare he call her 'Karen' too?

I cannot see the new reviews - have they been taken down? All I can see are old ones...

Kernackered · 08/05/2023 15:32

Why do they always start clapping like seals? Reminds me of the angry new York man with his moobs out clapping at woman
