It’s not clear what the customer said, it’s presumed she misgenders the employee as he calls her transphobic. He calls her Karen and then either grabs the phone or the person who’s filming.

So, let’s get this straight.

Trans-identified coffee shop employee has a violent meltdown over alleged misgendering from customer. Uses misogynistic slur, threatening and intimidating behaviour and assaults a man filming the incident.

India: I blame the Mumsnet Mafia.

This would be hilarious if it wasn’t so utterly depressing.

women are blamed for everything

Yep!

Since the Garden of Eden, women have been made the scapegoat for men's rubbish behaviour.

Look Gents - we'll take responsibility for our own wrongdoings, but yours are yours. Nobody pulled a gun on you and made you eat that apple, Adam.

Ooooh, please can I join?

Me too, can we wear spats, sharp suits and trilby hats in a totally gender neutral not taking the piss honestly m’lud , way. And Bugsy splat guns, we must have Bugsy splat guns.

Waitwhat23 · 09/05/2023 15:25

I was thinking we could have earrings with our star signs on and aggressively shake them every time someone in a coffee shop didn't say 'oh, you're such a Sagittarius/Taurus/Virgo! etc'.

I'm already swollen with pride at this accolade . . .

Well done ladies! Tea and Really Nice Biscuits all round, I think.

But…
Are they biscuits from the Right Side of History?

Sadly, tea isn’t. Colonialism and such. (Sorry to bring that up so close to the coronation 😬).

But biscuits are a fresh opportunity, especially if they are Nice!

Just to check (I've been caught out before), Nice biscuits (slightly disappointing coconut thin things) or Nice biscuits (a selection of special biscuit tinny biscuits such as Gold Bars and Viscounts)?

Tea, coffee and a selection of herbal teas for all!

turbonerd · 09/05/2023 15:29

I’d like a Disintegrating Pistol.

There's been a bit of a debate, should we all just be pleasant and social, and use these pronouns just to rub along. And in some ways, this really can be argued. It means a lot to certain people, getting along means being as polite as possible in some social situations.

But the way I see it, pronouns are also a desensitising tactic, a gateway drug. By kowtowing to a practice you deep down know to be fake, inconsistent and against every logic you normally run your life by, you weaken your self belief, your natural principles.

And of course, it's gets easier for the TRAs to then get you into harder drugs...beginning to accept men can genuinely become women, looking the other way when Austin Killips, Adam Bryson etc invade reality, falling hook line and sinker for the whole BeKind DontJudge BeYourself TransWomenAreWomen on-message branding.

And so I've moved from live and let live on this to the attitude I had when extricating from organised religion as a teen...you live your life as you want, don't force your beliefs on me.

There’s been a bit of a debate, should we all just be pleasant and social, and use these pronouns ….’

@RealityFan I’ve just been thinking about this and remembering back to the first ‘sex changes’ as they were called then, and the way it was reported and how people generally behaved.

There was enough media coverage such that people knew it was ‘a thing’. Social transitioning happened further down the line, (not just ID), but colleagues, friends, and family absolutely used the new name and pronoun without being exhorted to ‘be kind’.

Of course there wasn’t much choice of pronouns so that was different.

I'm confused as to why the GCMM would be in a Starbucks anyway (or in Southampton). Surely we'd be in a nice teashop or pub somewhere lovely? Or a posh restaurant in a smart city, if JKR's paying...

WallaceinAnderland · 09/05/2023 15:41

IW is running out of insults because, funnily enough, name calling is not working in IW's favour

Used to be TERFS - pft
Now it's Nazis

Used to be accused of 'literal' violence
Now accused of genocide

It's not working dammit. What else can I call them? I know, Mafia, yeah, that'll tell 'em

Oh I wish I’d been there.

I especially wish I was the person he assaulted.

nilsmousehammer · 09/05/2023 15:44

India's only muttering what every misogynist ex has muttered about women finding other women, sharing information, supporting each other, escaping male control. It makes them uppity and with ideas above their station and then they get out of their box, which is bloody inconvenient to some men.

Women getting increasingly pissed off, resistant and blunt would have happened anyway, but MN has helped women talk and get to this point faster.

Go MN.

howdoesatoastermaketoast · 09/05/2023 14:43

Bloody women. Sneaking into coffee shops and meanly doing things that provoke innocent males into becoming unhinged and assaulting people.

Like that utter cow who bruised that man's fist when he was only innocently fracturing her skull to make her stop wanting equality.

slowquickstep · 09/05/2023 15:48

So what of the woman called the worker he or him, she was right, the worker has obviously gone through male puberty ( although hasn't grown up yet) and that makes him ( or it if they prefer) a male. Glad he was sacked. The customer was well within her right to raise her voice to him as he was being aggressive. I hope she is ok after being verbally assaulted by an angry and entitled bloke.

TutiFrutti · 09/05/2023 16:03

I don't like Starbucks anyway so can't boycott but there's part of me that would love everyone to ask for Karen to be written on their coffee cups 😉

Are you misgendering? At no point in the video did either person say what pronoun they were.

I love this idea, in fact we should it everywhere we can and take back the name Karen from the loons

Obviously I make my own nettle tea from non-colonial nettles gathered from the Right Side of History . . . . (the Left side of History is next to the park and alsatians pittle on the nettles there, so I don't touch them.)

Yesss everyone do this!! All women choose to be called Karen until the slur dissolves??

I don’t like Starbucks either @TutiFrutti so unfortunately I can’t. But I’ll do it elsewhere if it helps

The second sort of Nice. Perhaps, for clarity, we should label them "Naice".

(Stop trying to change "Naice" to "Naive" autocarrot - I'm watching you! 👀😠)
