My boycott list is huge.
There are going to be no brands left at this rate.

The comment on that thread about an international 'fuck you' to women about nails it.

WhisperingAutistic · 24/04/2023 07:45

Looks like MAC as well!

Why are these brands sending him products and sponsoring him??

I'm no fan of Dylan's, but his make up always seems to be done well. I don't see anything inherently male/female about cosmetics, so unless they're saying he's an actual woman I can't get too upset about this.

BernardBlacksMolluscs · 24/04/2023 07:53

Yeah I’m not going to be boycotting Mac.

as a PP says, make up is for anyone of any sex. You want to use a man to advertise it? Knock yourself out

sports bras are a different kettle of fish

Hoppinggreen · 24/04/2023 07:57

While I think Mulvany is awful and his parodies of women are repulsive Make is worn by any sex/gender so I don’t have much of an issue with this.
The sports bra thing is very different

Teriyakieverything · 24/04/2023 07:57

Whatever makeup he wears, he always looks like a ventriloquist dummy to me, especially when he bares his teeth.

Teriyakieverything · 24/04/2023 07:58

Not a good look. Not great advertisement for make up.

Theunamedcat · 24/04/2023 08:00

I thought they identified as a little girl?

Mrsjayy · 24/04/2023 08:04

I'm.sick of the sight of Dylan mulvaneys face the "little girl" act is nauseating and sinister, how can companies hire somebody pretending to be a little girl ! I saw a thing that they were #Ad for kitchen aid I mean wtaf!

Cellotapedispenser · 24/04/2023 08:05

There's an interesting take on why all these companies are piling in to sponsor Dylan elsewhere on the internet. It all comes down to the CEI score that many companies are striving for. It's a specific part of the CSR apparently sponsored by George Sorros. I ended up down some strange rabbit holes trying to understand this but was surprised at how specific the CEI score is around transwomen and surprised my own company was heavily invested in this particular score.

This ! the were reliving their childhood or some such pish

moonspiral · 24/04/2023 08:07

There is absolutely nothing wrong with that MAC ad.

Signalbox · 24/04/2023 08:08

Trying to work out what CEI and CSR mean?

And if he was acting as the man he is, whilst wearing makeup, I would have no issue. It's that he's mocking women whilst doing it that I take offence too.

Men’s skin is different to woman’s. Women don’t generally have stubble to cover and there are (recent) photos of this one with stubble.

Although I have noticed a make up fashion with the young ‘uns to copy drag makeup.

How is the MAC ad mocking women?

ImSweetEnoughDarlin · 24/04/2023 08:12

Why him though? On absolutely fckn everything.

I boycott makeup and toiletry brands as soon as they start advertising their stuff to me on/by men. Men's skin is different. Plus I don't want things for me, marketed at me by men.

But this see you next tuesday is just insidious. I don't know what it is about him but he just rubs me up the wrong way and makes my skin crawl.

Klex · 24/04/2023 08:12

Rad fems won't need to boycott as we don't tend to wear make up anyway.

snoopyscarpy · 24/04/2023 08:17

Just a very genuine question, as I have seen a lot of hate towards this person.

What is it that everyone is upset about?

I think I'm too laid back to care about these things but I'm wanting to be educated here. Thank you!

moonspiral · 24/04/2023 08:19

I'm not trying to be awkward but as a relative newbie to the debate this is what makes me confused about the whole thing. The bra thing I got, I understood. But the MAC ad is someone openly saying they are trans and talking about a charity linked to the brand while putting on makeup. If someone could please explain why this is offensive I'd be most grateful as just as I think I'm understanding the arguement something else comes along.

Did your rabbit hole include James Lindsay? He got my cogs turning. I'm a bit conflicted because it sounds like tin-foil har time, but I also fins it thoroughly plausible 😬

I agree there is a difference between advertising products that can be used by someone of any gender, like make up, and products like sports bras where we know many women give up sport once they leave school and where the message about female participation is important. Chloe Kelly would have been a good choice (maybe not outside England admittedly).

Wtf, why does he have so much power and influence and why is he meddling?
