Do you already own anything by Nike that you no longer want to wear

Sharron Davis has just posted an idea - if you're really angry with Nike and no longer want to wear the stuff you've already got then send it back to them. I would love the thought of their offices being swamped.

The tweet is here:

https://twitter.com/sharrond62/status/1645015519072854017

A reply in the thread notes this as Nike UK headquarters

Film House, 142 Wardour St, London W1F 8DD

Anticipating someone pointing out the cost of living and wasting of clothes - if you're not going to wear something any more you've three choices, throw it out, charity shop or send Nike stuff to Nike in protest.

UK charity shops are so swamped with unsold clothes that it ends up abroad being their rubbish to deal with - so I reckon you can send your stuff back to Nike with a clear conscience.

And anticpating further criticism - I am not trying to Nike shame anyone who cannot afford to replace their running or gym gear - or just wants to wear what they already own. Nor am I trying to tell you not to buy Nike if it is the only thing you like or you don't care about the furore. Wear what you like, buy what you like!

But if you are angry, and don't want your Nike gear anymore then the above address is just a thought.

The real question is why didn’t you notice you’d dropped an E?
Mistakes are in the writer, not the reader. Hth.

You didn’t even read the source!

That’s deffo a reader mistake.

Anyway, we’re all over on another thread now, I’d invite you over with a link but you need to save your electric.

Have fun macramé-ing your sports bras alone in the dark!

LizziesTwin · 09/04/2023 17:54

I’d bought a pair of Nike shorts from another company on line last week. I’m going to send them back and say why. I haven’t tried them on yet.

You made a spelling mistake. So it’s on you.

Why can’t they be using transwomen to sell clothing to transwomen?

Ah whataboutery at its finest. Let’s justify the completely unnecessary posting tons of junk to the other side of the world to protest a corporations adverts by saying that email is bad for the environment too. Guess what, an email complaint to Nike is far more environmentally friendly than posting a few kilos of used gym gear.

I'm not admonishing anyone for their environmental impact. Or, advocating they change their behaviour. I think the word you are looking for is hypocrisy. You are literally killing polar bears and burning forests yourself.

Yes.

Plus hitting her twice.

Assault.
Trapping her in the building
Attempting to extort money
Demanding that the police hand her over
Trapping her and a group of police in the building for hours, who were forced to barricade themselves in during their attempt to protect her from the raving mob

You could take prosecutable offenses and go nuts with the crime sheet really, a lot of boxes got ticked.

The sources are very easily available on the threads here and on Google. Including a newspaper interview with Gaines.

There was a lovely letter though, expressing support for the protestors. Saying it was ‘peaceful’.

I mean, if that is ‘peaceful’ then what the fuck do these people call ‘not-peaceful’. Or was it peaceful because only someone who people disagree with was assaulted and terrified and the uni security, and no property, that we know, was damaged.

Why can’t they be using transwomen to sell clothing to transwomen?

Why would they do women have figures like men. Do we have lumps in our leggings do we actually look like men?

Or could they actually get an trans what actually looks like a women to do it.

London? It's not the other side of the world, well I suppose it is if I go the really long way round.

There's posters on here that say they're from the USA and Australia, it's naive to assume we're all in the UK on here.

Nike is a US company with its head office in Beaverton, Oregon.
London is just a local U.K. branch.

foxlover47 · 09/04/2023 21:00

Have always loved Nike and have a dd who has just gone into their look
But it can all be stopped going forward

I tend to agree -why can't there be adverts aimed at everyone who needs to wear one?

You argue like a TRA. I’m literally killing polar bears! 🙄

UndercoverCop · 09/04/2023 21:05

I don't have any Nike stuff, was just about to buy my first pair of airfirce 1 shadows , won't be now.
As an alternative you can also wrap a brick/phone book, send it to their offices without enough postage on it. They have to pay excess to retrieve it, are inconvenienced and probably don't want loads of phone books.

CremeEggQueen · 09/04/2023 21:01

Or wants to wear one.

I don’t understand the thought process whereby a woman watches an advert depicting a transwoman wearing an item of clothing who then thinks it’s being advertised to her and not transwomen and subsequently finds offence in one advert not depicting a woman when there are plenty of adverts for the same article of clothing that use women to advertise to women.

I don’t watch Levi jeans adverts for men and think why are they using men to advertise to me, a woman? I think hmmm advert depicting a man means they’re advertising to men.

I just googled headquarters Nike UK. And got London. I can only go by what the Google tells me. Pretty sure the original tweet that started this bunfight said the same.

If anyone is inciting a hate mob against a company could this amount to criminality?

No

Mumped · 09/04/2023 21:08

I thought you were ‘as GC as they come’ @L3ThirtySeven

So how do you not understand why this advert might be problematic for women and girls?

And why have you been on this thread all day long telling women why, when and how they are allowed to protest?

CremeEggQueen · 09/04/2023 21:09

L3ThirtySeven · 09/04/2023 21:00

London is just a local U.K. branch.

So whether you're in the UK or US then, whichever one you are you're still sending stuff around the world.
Hardly practically locally like some are coming across.
Surely if you really dont want to wear your stuff anymore, donate it to charity shops where lots would love to find a Nike bargain, and Nike dont get any more profits if that's what you're worried about?
Rather than sending to landfill or ditching at a head office somewhere where it will end up with probably the same fate?

Nike isn’t a U.K. company though…the London office isn’t even the European HQ for Nike.

fantasyhomesbythesea · 09/04/2023 21:11

Have Nike responded to any of this ?

Mumped · 09/04/2023 21:12

They issued a statement asking people to Be Kind @fantasyhomesbythesea

😂

Thankfully, what with Nike being a multinational corporation, we can all send to our own nations HQ.

Save on the airmiles and all that.
