Do people with no hair usually carry hairspray incase others need it?

Seeing as though what I was reading went poof.

'Transphobia' is a term used alongside 'hate speech' to close down women's opinions and voices. MN have been using it for years to close down debate.

The concept of 'Hate speech' is a gift to the TRAs

The other one in this case is “conservative backlash”.

hamstersarse · 11/04/2023 13:58

@Mirabai

I already take it as a compliment to be called right wing

It is interesting that MN hide behind this term 'transphobia' yet do not provide a definition of what it is. It's not just MN mind you, it is every single platform and workplace and school.

What exactly constitutes transphobia? Who gets to decide? Were women consulted on this definition, or just the men who want to transition?

The whole thing is fucked up

I don’t take it as a compliment because it’s not.

And anyway trying falsely to lump women from all political persuasions under one political banner is a lie to discredit them.

It is an attempt to paint genuine concerns of women about their rights and representation as a kind of knee-jerk traditionalist intolerance.

Ironically, this is age old traditionalist misogyny in a new guise.

@nilsmousehammer

Can you imagine the fuss if someone did an equally stereotypical, belittling caricature of a black person? A disabled person? A trans person? An indigenous person?

You know, I bet there's plenty of examples from the early to mid twentieth century of drag act charcters who are both cross race and cross sex. It would be interesting to see how they are read by moden audiences. Would they condemn the former but not the latter?

nilsmousehammer · 11/04/2023 15:43

Bunshaped · 11/04/2023 13:45

MN, if you're reading/policing here, could you post and explain the rationale to us all? Thank you.

Yes, I'd also like clarification of this, MN.

Before Maya's case, posts that said TWANW were deleted constantly.
After Maya, it seemed we were finally allowed to speak the truth.

So what is the rationale for these deletions now?

Not to mention why it should be felt that all women owe 'respect' to a male who is taking the piss out of them with zero respect of any kind?

Respect what? The superior right of a male TQ+ person to control other people's language?

Rockingcloggs · 11/04/2023 16:11

Strange that this was posted by MN on another thread. Can't seem to stick to it though when it comes to women discussing trans issues! Strange that!

Trans Men never seem to want to compete against Men or demand entry to Men’s spaces.

Nor do they endorse men’s products.

Absolutely agree 100% @BBunshaped and @nnilsmousehammer
I would really like to see a response from MNHQ as the censorship on this issue is indefensible and disgusting. I and numerous other people have posted on this thread asking for an explanation as to why our perfectly legitimate posts are being repeatedly deleted. We've had tumbleweed as a response to those posts. It would be nice for @MNHQ to respond to the women who are bewildered at being silenced on such an important discussion. I will state again that nobody can force me to refer to a biological man as a woman because a man is not a woman. Nor will I be forced to stay silent about this.

Interesting article regarding Mulvaney’s recent brand partnership with Bud Light:

Jeez. When you talk about a drop in sales as catastrophic, you know something's up.

Quoting my own post, here, @Mnhq, but it might be something you could consider suggesting to your advertisers.

There's no other way to say it.

Go woke, go broke.

Jeez. When you talk about a drop in sales as catastrophic, you know something's up.

The article mentions that the drop in sales is such that it won’t be made up by future sales this year. But the analysts aren’t certain if the customer discontent will be sustained.

I read another article that interviewed a journalist from a beer sales industry magazine who framed the customer sales drop as ‘older customers being confused by societal changes that don’t confuse younger customers’, Another marketing analyst interviewed for the piece opined that outrage marketing works. I’m not sure that either analysis is taking everything into consideration.

Bud Light’s Dylan Mulvaney controversy hits rural distributors as branding guru thinks consumers are confused

Beer Business Daily's publisher says distributors in rural areas are "spooked" over backlash to Bud Light celebrating transgender activist Dylan Mulvaney.

It makes a point I alluded to previously about inclusivity excluding the people who matter the most - the main customer base. In Nike’ sports’ bras case - women.

Why market to a tiny % of your customer base while excluding and alienating the vast majority of your consumers?

I would love to hear that Nike suffers a “catastrophic” fall in sports’ bra sales.

nilsmousehammer · 11/04/2023 22:11

Ah. It's the 'they'll be dead soon' marketing approach. Insult your current customers. Get a lot of attention for being arses. Hope that the bright young things start spending money with you instead.

Bloody hell this decade is vile.

Strictlyfanoftenyears · 12/04/2023 00:07

Why havent @Mumsnet HQ answered the questions from this thread? Why cant we say someone is a man if they are a man?

AridFanjo · 12/04/2023 02:52

I won't be buying Tampax any more for DD. Ever.
I won't be buying Nike products for either DC, myself or DH. Ever.

They are officially added to my list of fuckwit retailers who have no respect for women. I can afford to choose where I shop so I will be taking my money elsewhere <slow clap for the marketing teams>. I may not be their target demographic but at the moment I am the one with the spending power for two young adults who are.

xabia · 12/04/2023 07:40

Looking at the massive drop in sales of Bud Light in the USA last weekend should focus the minds of other companies.

SkiingIsHeaven · 12/04/2023 07:43

I find this obnoxious prick deeply offensive.

I will definitely be boycotting any products or companies that endorse this crap behaviour.

Nike have made it clear that they’re now making sports bras for men so it’s obvious they’re going to experience a drop in sales, given that most men don’t wear bras.

nepeta · 12/04/2023 18:53

@UtopiaPlanitia

I read another article that interviewed a journalist from a beer sales industry magazine who framed the customer sales drop as ‘older customers being confused by societal changes that don’t confuse younger customers’,

This is the same thing as the Owen Jones argument about them being on the right side of history, the belief that we are seeing a generational change in the West.

I can't predict the future, and so I can't tell whose side (if either) will win, but if their side wins that future will not be a pleasant place for anyone assigned a vulva at birth.

Perhaps the younger generation wants that future, but it's far more likely that they can't even see the problem because they don't have the knowledge of history and the understanding of how societies work to see what all this will mean for us vulva folk.

The woke ones I've talked to believe that women, certainly what they call cishet women, have been completely equal with men, perhaps even favoured, for many years now, and that "rights are not a pie" so that none of the changes they push for will harm boring women's rights.

At the same time, strict gender roles and rules are making a comeback, and that must be driven by their generation and its opinion-makers, so sometimes I do think that some young people actually do want a more sexist world to return, and so it's their problem to fix this mess.

UtopiaPlanitia · 12/04/2023 20:45

@nepeta To be honest, I’m not sure a lot of the younger generation(s) really know what they want, owing to the fact that substantial numbers seem to struggle with living in the real world. I think our generation did them no favours by letting the internet & TV & video games be their babysitters. All three of these are heavily masculine-coded and push very backwards/stereotypical notions about women and sex.

It seems like second-wave feminism burned bright for a time and helped improve life for a lot of women but it’s been extinguished or watered down by succeeding generations’ return to patriarchal thinking. I honestly don’t understand why.

Kiwimommyinlondon · 13/04/2023 07:22

Dylan Mulvaney is a man.

Beowulfa · 13/04/2023 12:39

There is apparently archive footage of (national treasure) Lawrence Olivier playing Othello back in the day whilst blacked up and with a cod Jamaican accent. I fail to see why Dylan's parody of womanhood is any less offensive.
