Do you know what Nike? Forget about “just do it”, as far as I am concerned you can just do one.

JFC sorry for the type. 😬

You probably already know but in case and for others, the rules used to be 3 strikes and you are out. So assuming its still the same, try to not get a third post deleted.

I did not so thank you.

Lurked for years but finally posting as I'm at the end of my tether myself and on behalf of many women like me.

Lived experience for me has absolutely nothing in common with the rubbish DM is spouting.

Lived experience for me has been abuse and gaslighting from men I've known IRL and now online.

I never thought I'd find comfort and support on an internet site but I have (I'm just disappointed to discover I can be deleted for stating my belief in biology - like many others, I suppose).

I'm bloody sick of being mocked, parodied and being made to feel that I'm transphobic because of it. The only people who think this is acceptable is men.

Oh so true.

I understand that it's not the point people are trying to make but some of the 'male' characteristics here are also characteristics shared by biological women. I have tiny breasts, that doesn't make me masculine and I have a friend who is female, was born female and yet is 6ft tall and has large feet - larger than her husbands in fact. Nike have a made a shit choice, but not all biological women fit the same mold.

Bet you both have vaginas though.

I did the moves Dylan showed us yesterday, with the grin and the head toss and everything.

DH couldn't stop laughing, pointing out that I had finally learnt to 'woman' right.

But I had a sore neck afterwards from those sudden head tosses.

😂

I do hope you sweetly, positively and femininely danced backwards into a bush.

what was that lovely quote Arthur Marshall used to love from 1920s girls fic? 'Hurrah for the holidays!' cried winsome Elsie Something or other as she capered down the drive and tackled the postman low.

That's womaning properly.

Possibly this is the answer. Girls, put on your leggings and prance!

But don't forget your non-Nike sports bra.

oakleaffy · 07/04/2023 21:14

@Maerchentante
“White Stuff “ Leggings were recommended to me by a Yoga Teacher.

I have been wearing them and agree they are very good.

The only “Downside” is that if you are very long legged they could be a tiny bit longer,
but they keep their shape beautifully, don’t “ Sag” don’t pill and wash well.
I went back and bought more pairs- !

we might not all come from the same mould but I am willing to bet that all of our moulds had vulvas not penises.

I'm really not arguing that - I just mean that I don't think it's helpful to point out features Dylan has that biological women also have. They could have chosen a biologically female model who has large feet/small breasts/broader shoulders etc. But they didn't because then the woman would simply be told her body isn't good enough to make the clothing look appealing.

nepeta · 07/04/2023 21:34

Montgomery tweets that trans people aren't even allowed to be in adverts. Totally misses the point that Mulvaney is a parody presentation of what Mulvaney thinks a pre-teen girl might be like, and everyone tells Mulvaney that this sooo valid.

It's insulting towards young girls, and it's insulting towards our whole sex where we are told that this is what our own experience of girlhood might have been like, that someone who actually never experienced girlhood knows it better and has the right to ridicule us, laughing all the way to the bank.

ArabellaScott · 07/04/2023 21:45

Recent comments on Mulvaney's Instagram are an interesting view of how this campaign is going.

Women are fed up to the back teeth, I'd say.

Into the door frame, actually, which created a beautiful ending for my performance.

Who are the nearly 11 million following Mulvaney on TikTok? Are they critics or fans? I suspect that some percentage consists of female fans, sadly.

No more Nike in this house. I control the spends.

So androgyny?

So instead of making clothing to suit every shape, apparently Nike (and others) make clothes for androgynous shapes.

For long legged posters long tall Sally cater up to 38" legs. I love their Jenny jeggings. I'm not all that tall at 5'6 but I do have 36" legs annoyingly. It's taken me years to find long enough trousers. Years of cold ankles because companies cant see that some women have long legs. Pick your choice of anatomy.

BreatheAndFocus · 07/04/2023 23:13

I’m looking forward to Dylan’s next advert where Dylan takes the piss out of disabled people by pretending to be a wheelchair user, twatting about in Dylan’s usual fashion. No? Nobody would put up with that? Of course not! That would be offensive and ill-judged - but it’s just women he’s taking the piss out of so that’s fine because everyone knows women aren’t really people anyway.

Fuck off,Dylan, you sad, attention-seeking loser, and fuck off Nike. I’ve bought your trainers for years but wouldn’t touch them with a barge-pole now because you’re hypocrites and pathetically tragic. You’re regressive and misogynistic and you’ll pay for it. I hope Dylan is your Ratner moment.

NurseCranesRolodex · 07/04/2023 23:18

Just fuck off Nike.

I'm fed up of people hiding behind Dylan as a justification for body shamed women. Not all real women are a perfect 5'3 hourglass or pear. Some are taller, less curvy, hairier, with broad shoulders etc.

The issue is that they could have used a woman for the ad, not that Dylan is 'emaciated' or has 'no tits' as is often said. There are women who also have small frames and are catching strays for no reason.

Tbh, I’ve had different styles and have splashed on the top range to the lower range (only difference for me was the mile wear). I was advised them because I had my gait analysed and their styles have a high back on the ankle and all have a foam cushioning. They work for me!

I over-pronate and New Balance were good for me when I was still running.

It seem their idea of a woman is acting like an 8yr old girl on Christmas morning, high on sugar.
I only learned about autogynophiles recently.
Is autopedophillia be a thing too?

I believed we were not allowed to reveal to the long word beginning with A which dare not reveal its name ( on mn)

Jeez they really did a number on us with the censorship on this board

Last year when I think debbie hayton stated they were agp, the rules changed and we are allowed to mention it now. However horse brushing is still not allowed afaik.

Ah so when DH, a 'rhymes with van and begins with m' says it we are allowed to say it.

But women saying it without the benevolence of DH saying it first is a no no

pumpkintits · 08/04/2023 08:52

Ignoring the fact that this is highly offensive to women, who at Nike looked at DM's ad and thought "yes! THIS will sell our clothing!"

DM looks like a windmill, I thought the whole point of advertising was to entice the consumer to buy the product by making the product look good?!

Yeah pretty much. I dont think it's only DH who can change the rules like this.
I think if any man says it first then we lowly women can continue to use whatever term.
Remember the born in the wrong body shtick we had to use forever, but then mermaids tweeted out that of course no one was born in the wrong body, and then we were allowed to say that. Jeez we've come such a long way.
