Do you know what Nike? Forget about “just do it”, as far as I am concerned you can just do one.

Odd that Dylan isn’t wearing shoes

Does anyone know if Dylan has actually ever met a woman? It seems like maybe not, based on what he seems to think one is.

If Dylan wants to ‘feel like a woman’ he can try getting up through the night every hour for two years.

I'll try again...

If she has she clearly has no inclination to behave like one.

I wonder what the women she knows really think.

MotherofBingo · 07/04/2023 15:44

I understand that it's not the point people are trying to make but some of the 'male' characteristics here are also characteristics shared by biological women. I have tiny breasts, that doesn't make me masculine and I have a friend who is female, was born female and yet is 6ft tall and has large feet - larger than her husbands in fact. Nike have a made a shit choice, but not all biological women fit the same mold.

MrsMurphyIWish · 07/04/2023 15:45

If I ever met a woman with her penis out I would her to put her bollocks away because I’m old and pissed off at the world.

If my Yr 7 daughter met a woman with her penis out she would be scarred for life.

Are you me?! I have AA breasts so don’t wear a bra unless to run. My BF is a 6’ 1” woman of Nigerian descent!

Nike aren’t trying to be inclusive to women - they could have used me. Middle-aged, slower than what I was, sweat more than I did but I do have tiny breasts (and a mum pouch).

SoNoWrecksToday · 07/04/2023 15:49

Less than 1% of sports sponsorship in the US goes to women.

Thank you DM for whittling that tiny percentage down a bit further.

My niece is. By the time we got to the toilets the flasher was long gone. I think my sister would also have put her bollocks away for good.

It’s SUCH a serious insult to women to use this awful un- sportslike person to promote bras for WOMEN.
Nike must have done it to be controversial.

Idiot move.

So why haven't they chosen a female model with a broad back? Or a female model with small breasts? To model women's clothes?

Or you know, an actual athlete?

Not a pretender jumping about like something out of In The Night Garden?

That's what I was wondering too. If only Nike actually made shoes of some sort too!

But there was a thread the other day that “Women’s Health” that had that woman from “Love Island” sitting astride a bike with a tight leotard … it’s like women can’t desire to be heathy anymore. The vast majority of women will be gym goers - why is it so sexualised? My daughter has grown up in a family of team sports (not me!). Her aunt played hockey and now rugby, my daughter plays football. They don’t care about image but unless you’re into team sports, that’s the image projected.

faffadoodledo · 07/04/2023 15:56

Bye bye Nike.

Plenty of other good brands out there for women

It's just an instagram sponsorship, they probably have some low-level idiot handing these out like candy to whomever they personally like. And now Nike won't know what to say, they are painted into a corner.

My post re: Nike was deleted but lets just say this is par for the course. I am so tired of corporations pretending like people matter for anything other than their money.

It's been reported he got around $50-75k for it...

PopGoesTheProsecco · 07/04/2023 16:06

An absolute dick move by Nike.

I saw that, I think it's kind of typical for influencers and brands like Nike, though?
It's nothing to them. I think they base the $ on number of followers, reach, etc?

This person is a hot topic right now and has the backing of Joe Biden, Kamala Harris. The US is a very weird place now. It's Emperor's new clothes on steroids.

AliceOlive · 07/04/2023 16:08

Just looked and Nike spends about $3B in advertising annually. The janitor probably has approval authority to spend $50K.

Probably because actual athletes are now refusing to work with Nike because they treat them like shit.

Over the past several years Nike has faced a number of scandals over how it treats female employees and sponsored athletes. Women have spoken up about a toxic atmosphere at Nike’s headquarters in Beaverton, Ore., andabout sponsorship contracts that penalize athletes who become pregnant. Also a Nike coach was accused of verbally abusing female runners and was suspended by the U.S. Center for SafeSport.

She knows her stuff, is she on here? Idle musings.

Anyway I used to buy Nike airs. No more. So sad, it really helped with my plantar fasciitis when it flared up. But I'm certain there is some other trainer out there that will have the same cushioning.

I've got PF and wear Brooks trainers, can recommend them. Mine are Brooks Ghost.

I'm doing well today. My second deletion!

You probably already know but in case and for others, the rules used to be 3 strikes and you are out. So assuming its still the same, try to not get a third post deleted.

I may not be the target market for Nike, 53 and menopausal. But I am the purchaser of Nike trainers for my 3DDs who have been told today I will no longer be buying Nike products.

That's it for me. It's just making a mockery of women.

Same here, 3 DDs with Nike trainers, leggings, hoodies etc.. no more, they can find a new brand to like and wear.

RealityFan · 07/04/2023 16:15

Dylan sainthood by Nike yet another example of woke capitalism covering up their inequities with virtue signalling. So much easier for them to wrap their #Be Kind and #Be Yourself corporate arm around Dylan, and immediately show that they care. At a stroke it absolves them of the shit that they and every other corporation is guilty of. Because if you look like you care, then you do care.

Same malarkey as Met Police running up the Pride Flag while being guilty of misogyny and homophobia in industrial quantities.

Nike and other companies however rapidly need to come to a decision. The inflection point on all this is coming fast, homing into view. Women are not staying quiet, they're voting with their feet and credit cards. The men (hi everyone) are catching up too.

And Gen Alpha look like they might en masse turn right against all this.

Do you really want to be yesterday's news, pandering to a fragile brittle aesthetic? Or do you want to actually really be an ally to all your consumers, and stop pandering to an imaginary base?

Right now, the company that starts showing they're with women, with gays, with treating kids with respect and maturity, will be the company that develops a base that will be long lasting.

Nike deserve to really hurt, and be hurt, by this decision.

Bunsandtophats · 07/04/2023 16:19

Obscene and disgusting. That's my penny's worth.

Cheers, had a look, some ok looking ones. Decent prices, heres hoping for a sale sometime soon so I can try them without spending a hundred plus quid.
