Do you know what Nike? Forget about “just do it”, as far as I am concerned you can just do one.

FFS I just bought some new Nike trainers for the summer. I’m returning them pronto.

Of all the amazing female athletes Nike could have chosen to market their stuff to women and girls they choose this unpleasant person.

What a joke.

Because, no Matt how amazing a woman is, how many challenges she's faced, what an achievement she's accomplished.... she's still less than a male.

Maireas · 07/04/2023 12:27

no matter sorry

From the other threads I've seen it was unclear as to whether Nike had actually commissioned DM to promote their sportswear?

I wondered this too, though on Instagram it has the correct @ mention and #nikepartnership so I'm convinced now.

I keep wondering if Dylan is on one massive trolling exercise and now he's got past the 365 days of 'girlhood' he's going to do a big reveal about how it was actually all a trick to see how far he could push the media and companies into endorsing him.

But I won't hold my breath.

I agree, Dylan is the Emperor’s New Clothes personified and the USA’s VP along with all the companies sponsoring/supporting Dylan are the courtiers too afraid to say what they see.

However, I think once Dylan’s 15 minutes of fame are over what will be left is a very damaged person.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 07/04/2023 12:50

I reckon Mulvaney & Jeffrey Marsh are secret agents for the GC side. They're doing more single handedly than the saddest trans activist threatening women, to demonstrate to the wider public just how offensive / creepy / ludicrous their claims are.

NeighbourhoodWatchPotholeDivision · 07/04/2023 12:52

I always wondered what kind of body Nike sports bras actually worked on.

Guess I finally know.

nilsmousehammer · 07/04/2023 12:54

I'm still baffled that a selfie type social media thread of someone prancing about barefoot in the mud in their garden and falling over a bush is sponsored by a firm that spends a fortune on their image and advertising.

In a minute I'm going to take a selfie of myself sitting on the draining board by the boiler and get British Gas to sponsor me. I might flick a digestive at the cat and see if McVities are up for this too.

RealityFan · 07/04/2023 12:57

Just like the Labour Party where the woke activists and TWAW administrators don't tell Keir "trans isn't coming up on the doorstep" Starmer about the radioactivity of TRA policies, I believe woke SJW marketing department staff at Nike and other captured companies keep this stuff from upper management.

I can imagine a senior executive sees this shitshow for the first time when we do.

yetanotherusernameAgain · 07/04/2023 08:35

There are already two threads about this.

And I also thought that it wasn't confirmed that Nike was actually part of it? Dylan's insta story just had them tagged, but didn't have #ad or anything on it. Happy to be told I'm wrong

nilsmousehammer · 07/04/2023 13:08

I suspect you're right about upper management only being told the identified as reality.

My NDN, quite unprompted, mentioned she was doorstepped by local Labour this morning, and that she told them she was a Labour voter but didn't trust Starmer and wasn't happy with Labour's attitude towards women's rights.

This whole 'it doesn't happen, it isn't happening, we identify as THIS being the real truth' thing is coming back to bite a lot of people.

TheCentreSlide · 07/04/2023 13:08

Fuck you Nike. Boycott time.

nilsmousehammer · 07/04/2023 13:10

I agree, I'm amazed this amateur vid has anything to do with Nike's marketing. But if it doesn't, Nike would be wise to share this info quick.

It could be Mulvaney trying to back Nike into a corner. Suppose Nike haven't endorsed DM, and DM wants to force them into it?

If the company makes a statement that the company is not responsible for the actions of a random instagrammer tagging its accounts, all Dylan's fans will send hatemail to Nike. Nike will end up officially smeared as transphobic.

The directors may decide it's easier to pay Dylan and gain control over what he does with the branding from now on.

IKR?

He looks like a Monty Python piss take.

I think he used to do musical theatre, Book of Mormon maybe? He's got the uber camp head bob down to a T.

I don't really blame Dylan. He's mostly guilty of being a massive sexist. But if you can make millions twat-prancing barefoot in your backyard, why wouldn't you?

It's the companies egging him on. I know it's all about the money, but for the love of God, can they not draw the line at capitalising on someone who quite clearly has a huge number of issues. Not to mention the sexism fairly radiating off the campaigns showing, as Sharon Davies says, such a disdain for women.

The campaigns like Run Like a Girl truly do inspire women. You feel good about the product - and not just because it works.

AliceOlive · 07/04/2023 13:48

No idea why my comment was deleted.

But let me say again that Joe Biden is supportive of Dylan.

And that I just learned Dylan was on Glee.

maranella · 07/04/2023 13:55

Have you seen the advert too? A scrawny bloke with, of course, zero breast tissue doing some pathetic prancing around in an insulting parody of what it is to be female. Can you imagine how it would be received if, instead of insulting women, he was insulting people of another race, or a different religion? There would be uproar. But taking the piss out of half the world' population - oh it's only women so crack on.

Nike clearly think they're such a huge, wealthy company that she can pull this shit and it won't hurt their bottom line. I hope women all over the world boycott them. I shall.

My theory is that this started off as a bit of a trolling exercise to get him exposure for his musical theatre career, but he is getting so much cash thrown at him for sponsorship by captured companies that he has decided to make a career of it.

This guy has a totally male body and doesn't even take hormones. He has nothing to do with women and Nike are total misogynists.

She has no boobs, hips, periods or menopause to deal with.
She doesn’t have a belly after pregnancy or overhang after a C-section. She doesn’t have years of being harassed in the street by boys and men for simply being a woman/girl exercising. She hasn’t been mocked for being too fat to too thin by men and boys. No one has written articles or comment on her bingo wing arms. She hasn’t got varicose veins from pregnancy which people comment on or have left her embarrassed.
But apart from that - excellent choice.

Indeed, he is not a she. Material reality does not change in accordance to a statement that it has.

Sunnysunbun · 07/04/2023 14:10

Lordy. Don’t try any sort of humour on mumsnet. FFS

HereForTheFreeLunch · 07/04/2023 14:12

What do you saying? Dylan is a joker so why aren't we laughing?

Cailleach1 · 07/04/2023 14:12

Just an addition of what that chappie is not.

Cailleach1 · 07/04/2023 14:14

Maybe a better sign of humour is to avoid the multiple F's.

highfidelity · 07/04/2023 14:18

The post is a paid ad which means Nike paid Dylan anything up to $40,000 for him to mock women, although to be fair, Dylan was mocking women for free and from day one of his journey through girlhood.

If the video wasn't a paid for ad, Nike's lawyers would have been all over this by now and forced him to remove it. But they have not.

What a joke.

have a google for how Nike treat the “amazing women athletes” the choose to market their stuff to.

alberto Salazar and project oregon
70% cut in sponsorship to a female athlete who got pregnant.
setting performance targets for another post c-sec athlete or lose sponsorship.

they have an extensive history of treating women like shit.

women like Simone Biles terminated their sponsorships because of the way Nike treated them.

this is not out of character for Nike. Women are clearly a PITA so logically they would choose a man to market their womenswear.
